  1. 200 - been there done that, now on a 300.... However, back to insurance. A few years ago NU changed the wording on the certificate to imply trials were not covered. It was all to do with track day boys fiddle claims. No point talking to the broker - I somehow managed to phone their underwriter bods. Explained road trials, sent in a programme etc & it was absolutely no prob for reworded certificate. Later I change to Carole Nash for insurance & now my certifcates come with correct wording, unprompted.
  2. Nov 1st Horsham Riders Trial, Rome Woods Rusper http://www.hrc1.org/ Also on the 1st South Coast Group Trial - Eastbourne Club http://www.peacharno.co.uk/EDMCC.htm And on Sat 7th Witley at Kingsfold nr Horsham. ACU centre trial http://www.witleymcc.org/
  3. Castrol MTX - the non synthetic version. Works good in Revs & Pros
  4. Angela Redford & Bootle Traditional trials are excellent and well worth riding. There are a few good Long Distance Trials at that time of year - these need a Pre65 or trail bike......
  5. Thanks guys for a wonderful trial. Sections spot on. I changed class to ride the (slightly) harder route & throughly enjoyed it. I only found one marker missing on route, your backmarker wasn't sure so I went the wrong way. Maybe us modern trials riders need to read a route sheet now & again..... I & a few others seemed to need more time though - an 20 mins would have been ideal! Have to argee with Jordi & Woody - keep the champ classes all on the one route. Results are on the Western Centre Web page.
  6. The local clubs - Horsham Riders, Worthing, RRND all have club trials with 3 or 4 routes through the sections. The easiest route or next hardest would usually be okay - depending on rider skill of course - for a pre-65. The easy route usually avoids sharp ditches & logs, so shouldn't upset a rigid bike too much. These are AMCA trials & all clubs have a monthly event.
  7. I had 5 Betas, followed by 3 Gassers. All ridden a lot & in some of the more interesting trials. Both marques needed same maintenance, both equally reliable & durable. The Beta's I had had thin stickers that needed replacement a couple of times a year. They are better on the new bikes now.
  8. TS - I'm still running my 280 Pamp from 03. Mods - Pull rad grill down to cover rad fully. Boyesen reeds are well worth it. Grind steering lock stops back loads... I run 10T gearbox sprox for trials & 11T for LDT type events. Rear-set foot pegs are an essential mod - they transform the bike's handling. Using a Keihin carb with the reeds, my 280 is better on fuel than my mate's 250! Up to 60 mpg on a dry day. A great all-round bike.
  9. I've had 5 Beta's & now 3 Gassers. Gas Gas need no more maintenance than any other bike. Also just as reliable as anything else - I've a 6 year old GG Pampera that's done 90 events & never let me down.
  10. M27 x 1. Same as TXT, but Pro needs longer bolt. As small socket does this - if you have the TXT puller.
  11. Updated entry list now posted on HR club web page
  12. There seems to be a mains issue with later Rev3s now. Not sure why, older engines were okay. However don't confuse the noise with the primary drive whine. All Betas get this eventually. Some sooner & louder than others. Apart from the noise, its nothing to worry about & pricey to fix if you're a perfectionist...
  13. Horsham Riders Club is running a round of the South Coast Group Trial on the 10th May. This differs from the other rounds in the series in that there are no entries on the day. Regs are available from the HR website: www.hrc1.org There will be 12 sections with three routes set in 80 acres of Surrey woodland. Early entry gets early number..........
  14. The newer top of range Hebo jeans now come with seperate knee pads. However, you'd be better getting knee pads seperately & then jeans to fit over. Much better preotection.
  15. Charlie is still around! Try contact via RRND : http://www.rrnd.co.uk/

    Main Bearings Gone

Mains on Betas - were never a problem, until recently. I wonder why. I had 5 Rev-3s with no probs. Sherco went through a period of running mains - are they cured now?
  17. Fred, Try Graham Knight at www.xpress-services.co.uk/ He prints for a few local clubs - Horsham Riders, Bognor etc. Cheers, Mike H.
  18. LDT list There are only few LDTs in the SE - 2 in Kent & one in Hants. See list above. There are some excellent trials out there but all are a fair distance from SE centre.
  19. I've seen a report on motocrossdigital.com. Todotrial claimed it was testing Bou's bike. And Steve Saunders apparently rode it too. But no more reports? All rather odd - was some wonderful new technology accidently divulged or is there another reason? I think we should be told!

    Chain

Chains - all makers sell different grades of the same size chain and different prices too...... So a std or trials chain, say
  21. Find a lathe.............make a drift the same profile as the top hat spacers so it fits inside internal hub spacer. Then insert & knock out opposite side bearing. Some use expanding bolt fitted inside tube & hit that. sonuds messy.
  22. Pete, You forgot the mcc bit in the link above ....
