Anyone replaced the Reikon bars on their 08 Beta for Renthal fatbars?
I can't seem to access the Reikon website to look up the dimensions on their bars to compare with the spec that I can access on the Renthal site, so if anyone has changed their bars for Renthals I have a few questions.
Why did you change?
Is the bend much different?
Any difference in the height/rise/sweep?
Can't get a comfy position with the Reikons so am thinking of trying the Renthals but would appreciate some feedback before splashing the cash.

Not sure that "spooning" with a corpse is illegal as yet.......... not in this county anyway!

It failed its MOT, too much play in the ball joints......................

With Boyesens you just get the reeds which are dual stage. The original reeds in the Beta are single stage, ie one reed on the top, one reed on the bottom. Boyesens have two reeds on top and two on the bottom. The first reed opens at lower revs and the second as the revs build. They come with a reed plate which is different than the original one. The original reed plate is shaped like half a semi circle and limits the reed travel. The Boyesen reed plate just secures the reeds where they screw onto the reed block and is a flat plate. This happened to a vehicle of mine a few years ago. As you have probably figured out, they are stealing bits to repair another similar van with front end crash damage. If a number of vans have been done in your area. there must be a place specialising in that kind of repair not too far away. All depends how far the villains are willing to travel.
Make sure the cops check any CCTV or traffic cameras in your area that might capture any image of the villains or their vehicle. They are obliged to do this but are generally lazy and wont bother.
If in future you catch the baddies in the act, make sure you give them a severe battering as they will have spanners and screwdrivers and that ups the anti as far as defending your property. (other forms of self defence are available)
At the end of the day make sure you are adequately insured and fit plenty of PIR lights.
Oh and check the local pikey site.

It doesn't look 'right', doesn't sound 'right' so it probably isn't right. Right?
Just looks like every other hatch, Mazda 323, Seat etc etc. Subarus effort to try and take on the mighty sales of the Golf is what a Subaru dealer told me. Once the rally version comes out I am sure they will tweak it to look better and those looks may get incorporated into the 09 version.
I am sure it is fun to drive but it has lost its soul and its iconic looks and sound.
May be a grower though?
In closing, how to be a car designer; Take a wax model of last years car, place it close to a roaring open fire until it starts to melt a bit. Remove from heat source. Hey presto, what next years model will look like.

Get a new metal gasket you cheap skate. Even though it looks ok it will have compressed slightly when it was used before. That is why it is there.

Snr Greeves,
Extended front exhaust pipe, not frame down tube. Exhaust pipe looks longer at the front than standard?
Frame tubes at rear straightened where they meet rear mudguard.
Lovely bike and what a beautiful setting to take the photos.
-
Ok let's see;
Rear box modded to single outlet
Front pipe extended
Modern footrests
Chain adjusters moved inside swing arm
Front mudguard stay
Extra cylinder head support to the front
Different carb
Gas assisted rear shocks
Thinner seat
Chain guard
Sure there are more goodies internally and probably more externally that I have missed.

Worth watching alone for the closing scenes.

Lampkins recommend a 5. The number represents the heat range. On a 7 the firing end stays cooler and dissipates heat quickly and hence is a cooler plug than the 5, suitable for the Italian weather. The 5 is a hotter plug, firing end heats up quickly, dissipates heat more slowly, better suited to the weather here.
Result, less oily plug.
This was the case for the 06 and 07 bikes anyway. Give them a call to double check for the 08.
Begs the question, why don't they come with a 5 as std in the UK?

Baddies read these sites too. Go into detail and you let them know what they may expect when they try and break in. Better to share this sort of info in person, not on the World Wide Wotsit.

From the 199b handbook;
front/rear fixations 1.5Kg/cm2
The four others 1.8Kg/cm2

They keep the weight down the same way as I keep the weight down when I buy bananas in the supermarket. When you put them in the bag and then onto the self-service scales for that little label to be printed out, you juuuust keep hold of the bag handles and take a smidge of the weight with your hand. Allegedly.
It's my way of getting back at them for price fixing milk and getting rid of their over packaging.
Also when buying broccoli, tear off the stalky bits, no-one eats that so why pay for it.

In what way is the "upgraded centre muffler" upgraded over the std item?
What were the noticeable differences when fitted?
Is it mostly the placebo effect?
Not so interested in weight saving as cleaning the mud from underneath the rear mudguard and from the front area of the sump between sections is the cheapest way to keep the bike light. That and not brimming the tank. Or chucking 6th gear in the skip.

Anyone splashed the cash on one of these works/handmade looking Ti front pipes yet?
Looks like a nice bit of kit. As well as lightening my wallet, is it much lighter than the standard item?

For you guys across the pond there now follows a quick guide to this seemingly unnecessary chore.
Us English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh* like to fettle/tinker/preventively maintain our bikes whilst drinking tea/scotch/Guinness/leek juice* as it gives us a warm glow inside and gives us an excuse for not mowing the lawn/hating the English/cutting peat/chasing sheep*
Most of the time the carb is found to be clean inside but unless you have a look, how can you be sure?
Bit like the light inside the fridge, does it really go out every time you shut the door or is it on all of the time, you can never be really sure so now and again you have to have a look.

A man who looked Health and Safety in the face and laughed out loud and poo pooed Risk Assessment. Always wondered why he chose to do jumps on a bike with less travel than a steam train and so heavy it had it's own gravitational field. Would have chosen a nice motocross bike myself, maybe it was the all American Stars and Stripes Harley thing.
Cowhorns on racers, that brought back some memories, we had to cut about 2" off both ends to get over the footbridges round our way.
The Legend will live on, RIP.
