I didn't think these bikes needed anything done to them, aside from making sure everything is up to snuff.

From what I understand the 627 is just a part of the 600 series. Amal parts are extremely common from a wide variety of vendors. If you are uncertain about details most any vendor should be able to assist you.

AHRMA will go twinshock, just a matter of when. In the meantime stock up on the $300 SWM and Fantics!

I have to say that from your description this does not sound good. I can't imagine the wheel came from the factory like this. What do you know about the history of the rim? Depending on just how far out of sorts the wheel is will determine a possible fix. Can you post a photo of the wheel? Sure, replacing the rim wouldn't be fun, but it doesn't sound ridable as it is.

Maybe get a new rim?

As nice as these guys may be, their spark arrestors are not USFS approved and could get you in trouble in the wrong places.

Finally a real trials bike!

Which model number is that? Where did you have to source the seat from?

He's just jealous that the KT might beat his Honda. Besides at this point it would be mostly parts and they could fit anywhere. Heck, probably need to toss everything but the frame.

What interesting is how similar that bike looks to the new Montesas. I know they are related, but they sure don't look like they've changed much.

I thought I saw one belt drive that was pretty thin. I think the belt was about an inch wide. Is that what you were looking at?

I have new alloy with rubber molded rim locks. I think they can take a bit of pressure without losing grip on the beads. I had some old steel and rubber/canvas ones in there before. Totally old-school. And rusted and not working. So I'm definitely at an improvement stage.

So just how tight should they be?

All magnesium and titanium 500cc pre-65. See if I couldn't get it down to 100lbs...

There are a couple good thread on this forum about modifying the KT. You even responded in it. In addition haven't you talked to Jay yet? He apparently did some modifications "back in the day". Are you going to ride the Honda or KT at Chehalis?

Well, it wasn't a pinch flat, the stem tore away. We don't get too much thorny stuff, the worse we might see is some blackberries and those won't do any damage. I probably shouldn't have tightened the nut on the stem so tight...

I recently had a flay tire on my Bultaco, which resulted in a DNF. Luckily it a low-key event and besides I didn't feel like fixing the tube in the hot sun. I assume I pinched a tube. With these low pressures I believe it's not that uncommon. Has anyone ever used Slime in their tubes? I believe that it's a little messy if you have a tubeless tire but I'm thinking that it might no be too bad with a tubed one. Might be good enough to get me through a trials if I get another pinch.

Why are you worried about a good seal? What's going to get out?
