  5. yup, I know a few, where abouts do you live exactly? Tom
  6. what tyre pressure do you lot run on the road? im always scared the sidewall will fold on the tyre going around corners, whats the lowest pressure thats safe to run on the road? also, what pressure is reccomended for riding green lanes? All the best Tom
  7. Nice one, sounds like a wicked bike to wheelie. back in the 80's it would have cost you a fortune to film a 10 mile wheelie! I love it when the wheelie just go's where you want it to. Nice to hold it in 3rd then tap the front into a rock and up you go! or hit it wrong and end up on your a*** hehe. at the end of the day, wheelies are a base skill for most trials. Ralphy, The long wheelies I do are off road but im not saying I dont wheelie on the road, alot of people would call me an irresponsible rider, and they would be right! the only reason I dont do long ones on the road is because im bound to come across someone and I find it quite embarrassing because I know they are all thinking "what an idiot!" but at the end of the day, I dont drink (never touched a drop of alcohol in my life), dont smoke, and dont do drugs, I just eat too much crap, ride bikes too fast and do too many wheelies and stoppies. Everyone has their vices eh? All the best Tom
  8. Cheers Billy, dont drink coffee though mate, that stuff can seriously mess with your body. My mate had some right problems, all dissappeared when he stopped drinking coffee though! Tom
  9. nope, the 3.6 miles was done on a friends track on his farm, I have to slow down to turn around and come back. To make the 10 miles easier I know a guy who has access to a disused airfield. and as for "whats the point in this?", whats the point in anything? why do you ride up hills and over rocks? seems just as pointless as doing a 10 mile wheelie, I enjoy all aspects of motorcycling, a long wheelie requires concentration, simultanious throttle, clutch and rear brake control aswell as balance. All these things are essential In trials so why not try to push my limits in them? Thanks to Bowerz for the constructive comment. to those who were rude, forget I posted anything. And if Mark is reading this, chances are he is laughing his head off..... Tom
  10. This year I want to attempt a 10 mile wheelie on my Pro 300 but I have some concerns... I have done a 3.6mile wheelie before which ended when I ran out of road but even at this point I was starting to get pain in my hands but I think this can be sorted with a pair of proper road gloves and some pre-wheelie hand-care. The main worry is the engine, with bigger bikes (usually 4-strokes) the engine can be damaged due to being starved of oil because all the oil rushes to the back of the gearbox, would this be the case with a trials bike on such a long wheelie? Im not worried about the rev's as Ill be doing it in 5th and 6th gear using fairly low revs. All the best Tom
  11. Thanks for the help everyone, got it sorted now =] just got to wait for the Doc's to come through now (or the letter saying they want to see the bike!) Thanks again Tom
  12. I have a V35/4 form from the DVLA sitting in my lap at the moment. Im wanting to register my 08 GasGas 300 but the questions on the form are extremely confusing! what does everyone do about answering these questions? I cant see myself knowing the max net power of my bike or the "NOx g/km or g/kWh" (what the hell is that!?) I registered my beta which wasnt a problem and I cant remember ever having to answer questions like this? Any help much appreciated!! All the best Tom
  13. No but she probably has something Brazillian about her..... Tom
  14. carole nash gave me a quote but it was fairly high, might end up having to go with them anyway =( only need the bike for hospital, I only have a van for the road and I cant get within walking distance to the hospital so im driving most of the way and doing the last 5 mins on the bike, plus I get free and easy parking! I need to go 3 times a week for the next 10 weeks so its going to be a pain without the bike! Tom
  15. Cracking boots, I recently bought some. they are 100% waterproof but as regards to sizing. I found them ALOT smaller than my hebo's in the same size, definatly go a size up and I think you will be fine. I can only fit thin socks inside mine at the moment, which presents a problem. In all seriousness, I think if the sump came down and landed on my foot while I was dabbing, i think it could quite easily break it! Buy them though, really nice boots. All the best Tom
  16. Can anyone reccomend some good insurance company's that will allow me to insure my bike on a frame number temporarily whilst I get the registration sorted with the DVLA? Ive had some really good quotes but when I ask if they will insure it on the frame number they say "yes, but your premium might go up a little bit", A little bit is more like triple what my original quote was for a week of being insured without a reg plate...... another alternative I thought of which is a bit naughty..... would it be possible to take out insurance at silly money, then cancel it during the 14 day "cooling off" period under some sort of condition like " I didnt realise i wasnt insured for competition use" etc. then once I have my registration, insure it like any normal bike. Any advice much appreciated. All the best Tom
  17. is the adjuster of the lever wound all the way out? the reason I ask is: unless there is NO pressure on the master cylinder it wont let fluid back into the resevoir, which is why I think there is pressure against the syringe and the pistons were popped out. to be sure, take the lever off completely and then reverse bleed it with a syringe. In theory the fluid should pass straight through into the master cylinder resevoir with ease. dont forget to take the excess fluid out of the resevoir though.... try that and see how you get on. All the best Tom
  18. I might be interested in some cable drums, what sort of price would they be roughly? also, which firm in chesterfield do you work for? I live in New Whittington so its probably just down the road! All the best Tom
  19. Where abouts do you live? might know someone who can weld it for you. Tom
  20. buy a whole new clutch pack with the steels and fibre's. They are measured to very very fine tolerances to make sure the pack height is perfect. Hydraulic clutches are not infinatly adjustable, all the hydraulic system does is push against a series of "fingers" which in turn puts pressure on a spring which allows the clutch plates to slip, if the clutch pack height isnt right, these "fingers" can sit too low in the clutch basket and they will not put pressure on the spring when the "top hat" of the slave cylinder pushes on them. All the best Tom
  21. Managed to find dudwood farm, went looking today when I went to burycliffe, I didnt go up because it was about 8 o clock and thought it might be a bit late to be bothering him! Cheers =] Tom
  22. Does anyone on here ride at Dudwood farm? Ive ridden at burycliffe alot and have heared alot of good things about dudwood. Id like to nip down and have a chat to the owner of the land (is his name Barry?). I know he runs YMSA and from what people tell me he is a really nice bloke so id like to go down and see if he would let me ride there. also, where abouts is it? im not 100% sure on it! any information about the place would be much appreciated =] All the best Tom
  23. If you put bolts through it that will happen very easily, they come with clips in them that should just pop out, I bought a load of these from gas gas UK and some washers to fit. also, as the main bolt I use registration plate bolts, they are plastic and snap rather than snapping your mudguard. I break mine off about 3 - 5 times on a good days ride, and so far im on my same mudguard doing it like this. ive had the bike about a year now I think. if the side holes become too worn its time to start on the cable ties! All the best Tom
  24. where abouts are they breaking? Tom
