  1. nearly free, only 3 quid a bike!
  2. Just bought a pair of Oiled Gaene's (thanks to everyone for the advice on getting them). not had chance to ride in them yet but so far a gaene 42 is a hell of alot smaller than a hebo 42! the thick socks are of no use anymore! however, being as I spent a small fortune on them, whats the best way to look after them and keep them waterproof? Any tips much appreciated! All the best Tom
  3. love them. the only bit of critique i can find is something i see in lots of photo's. I always think they look better when you can see the whole obsticle they are going over. looks much more impressive. but obviously you lose out on the close up, would be cool to incorporate both into 1 photo! to have taken them from your seat is a very good job, keep it up =] and if you ever fancy coming and taking some pictures im free most sunday's but dont expect anything spectacular (other than falling off....) All the best Tom
  4. Thanks for the input everyone =] bought a pair of oiled Gaerne's after many many people reccomended them. one thing Ill never understand though.....they are meant to be such a good boot, but I never see anyone with them on! Ill chuck up a review on them if I have time Thanks again! Tom
  5. I just clean it after every ride when I clean the bike, then I run the bike in 6th gear and open it up while its on a paddock stand, this flings any water off thats left on the chain. the I stick it in 1st, and spray the chain on the top and the bottom, rev it again to spray off any excess and then spray it again with 3 in 1 spray lube. does the trick and never looks messy =] Tom
  6. Im pretty sure this is normal, mine and all my friends bikes are the same, let it tick over until its warm (fan comes on) then ride it about a bit, steadily increase the revs more and more over 5 mins riding or so, then just "clean it out". I dont think you have any fault with your bike though. All the best Tom
  7. I have a problem with the clutch on my gas gas, can I fix that with a bit of inner tube and super glue? Sorry....Couldnt resist....... Tom
  8. I tried some of these on at GG UK a couple of weeks ago, all the GG UK team riders have them so I thought id give them a shot, wasnt overly fussed on them, just didnt seem to fit me right. the overall quality of them was good though, just wish they fitted me better! Id like to try on the Gaerne's, are the brown oiled ones actually waterproof? I dont think ive come across a bott that is fully waterproof. I use sealskinz socks with another pair of normal socks undernief (to absorb the sweat!) but they dont take away that squelchy boot feeling you get, just keep your feet dry. All the best Tom
  9. Im Impressed! keep us posted on the progress =] Tom
  10. Im looking to get some new boots, most of all I want some waterproof ones! Ive had hebo boots before and I like the fit, so the question is, are these boots worth the extra money? has anybody used them before? http://www.trialendurodirect.com/products/..._boots_670.html All the best Tom
  11. hahaha, thats awesome, I love it! We should mass produce it, could be a market for it! Tom
  12. wicked, let us know how you get on, I think you will be surprised how quickly she takes to it. do you have any pictures of the seat you have made? would be interested to see it! Tom
  13. I would agree with getting her a 125, stick it in a higher gear so she can get some sort of speed and stability, with it being a 125 she will find it hard to flip the bike which has a big scare factor for someone learning. Also, like others have said, but as good of a bike as you can afford, you will get the money back at the end of the day. The only down side to using a trials bike is that there isnt any seat which can make things a bit more difficult. Im sure you could make something that would do the job though! also, heres a little tip for teaching her how to use a clutch that I discovered when teaching my girlfriend how to ride. rather than trying to get her to balance the clutch and the throttle at the same time, just turn the tickover up, it will rev a bit but she can set off using just the clutch, once she knows how it all feels, turn the tickover down to normal, and get her to hold steady revs with the throttle and then concentrate on the clutch. Good Luck! Tom
  14. ahhhh, sorry I misread it, im sure there is a way to add links but for the cost you may aswell replace the chain I think. Tom
  15. Was the guy you bought it off the only previous owner? if so, get in touch with him and ask why he didnt tell you about it. then explain to him that you are going to take it to a workshop to get the studs out and send him the bill. I think it would be possible to do the job with the forks still in, dont take my word for it though, I may be wrong! the bolts are pretty thick so an Easy-out should do the trick I think. as for the chain, if you get a chain splitter you can remove some links. All the best Tom
  16. Bloody ell Jonny, hurry up and save up for your own bike already! in answer to your question, Im not sure, If I were you id ring up the club and ask them directly. Tom
  17. Ill swap it back for the original hose and see how it go's, the thing that baffles me is why does it only do it when im pushing the bike into a rock? why doesnt it cause any other problems!? Tom
  18. Ive put a new clutch pack in. new slave cylinder seals and new master cylinder seals and its still got the same problem! any other suggestions? All the best Tom
  19. Ive seen this video a few times before, you posting it was a good excuse to watch it again =] Tom
  20. I was surprised how easily it split too, I ground it down with a small cutter on my air compressor, then when it was thin, used the flat edge id ground out to get a grip on it. and bobs your real dad, it cracked =] Thanks for the help Tom
  21. Ive been changing the steering bearings and found the bottom on was absolutly nackered. problem is its so nackered that its seperated itself from the inside race which is now stuck. any ideas how to get it off? tried WD40, heating it up but it just doesnt want to budge! Tom
  22. It would be good to see a few more. get the thread started and see who shows up! Tom
  23. Only been injured once. came up a steep hill and then up onto a rock, all was going well until I was ontop of the rock and needed a small dab to steady myself. that small dab tore the cartilage in my right knee! One other comical one was when my van was parked on a slope, I opened the rear doors and proceeded to roll the bike down off the step, however a bit of wind caught the left door and it blew shut easily because it was on a slope. The door caught my left bar, and promptly sent me over the bars before id even got my lid on! And then theres my wheelie crash on youtube.... All the best Tom
