These sort of things really make a difference, I was into skateboarding and snakeboarding from a young age and I came home from school one day to find my dad had built a half pipe in our back garden, This kept me interested and practicing and I later went on to get sponsors in both sports. I was fed up with being told off for skating in the street and had it not been for that half pipe id have jacked it all in.
keep up the enthusiasm and hopefully Gavin will do the same!
A tip for ramps. If at a later date he wants something a bit bigger, maybe a curved ramp or a hump.
Take a sheet or 2 of inch thick ply (can get away with 3/4) and cut out the sides of the ramp. then screw in peices of 2x1.5 inch wood between the 2 peices making a frame. make sure the wood fits flush up against the curve of whatever shape your making. then screw in (or nail if your feeling lazy) thin plywood (or MDF if its treated) to the top of the ramp. it will follow the contour of the ramp nicely.
for a basic ramp though yours is awesome. looks really professional.

Cheers Nige, Love the pic of the spaniards biting the gold hehe.

I think we should be seeing it around the same time as the raga, about may? would be interesting to see one in SSDT but i doubt it.

there is something to take into account though, some pegs are TOO grippy, nothing worse than going for a dab and then finding your feet stick to them!
-
Raptor's are cracking pegs but not indestructable (no pegs are!)
I think without spending stacks of money, Trialcast's "Ghost" pegs in my experience are great.
you can get them from www.trialcast.co.uk

I would say the master cylinder seal has something wrong with it. either than or or the seals around the pistons in the calipers could be worn.

Ello Matt, Best peice of advice I could give you is make sure you dont put your feet down and you will go far!

Trialendurodirect.com is a good one, its Basically GasGasUK the importer for all GasGas bikes. they are based just outside buxton, they sell all things GasGas and alot of other stuff too.
drop me an e.mail about sunday to HornyHondaHornet@aol.com

Ello Rob, I Live in chesterfield and ride at Buxton mostly which shouldnt be far away from you. your welcome to come along and have a good crack on my bike (2008 GasGas 300). Plus I can show you where to ride and answer any questions you might have. I ride every sunday, let me know what you think.

I put a flywheel weight on mine, made it lovely, it was really quick and nasty before putting that on.

wicked, would be interesting to see how it go's, at the end of the day, they all look the same caked in ****, and all thats left is how well it performs!

hang on a second....arent electric bikes silent? a big part of riding is being able to hear the engine and know what its doing, if we cant hear it, how are we supposed to know what the bikes doing?
ill reserve judgment until ive actually ridden one, but at the moment, doesnt the idea seem flawed?

Id disagree with sam about the schoolboys, riding a 125 is a completely different style when it comes to steps, though they are able to get up big stuff, having a bigger engine would make it a damn sight easier for them.
as for the 200, ive ridden an 08 200 breifly and it felt like a really nice well rounded bike. i cant comment on one 11 years older though. also, the 200 isnt really a very popular bike because its inbetween a 125 and a 250. and because of this they can be hard to sell on.
my personal advice would be to get a 250, if its an older bike your buying it should be fine for you to start out on. the power wont be too much and if you fancy getting something newer at a later date you shouldnt have much problem selling it.
if you dont mind me asking, whats your budget? a few people on here may be able to suggest alternatives to help you get the best for your money.

In short, been riding bikes on the road since 16, passed my full bike test at 17 (before my car test!) and rode several bikes on the road, after passing my car test at 20 I decided to keep going with the bikes but only ride them when I wanted and in nice weather. Bought a ZX-6R which turned out to be fast but boring. got a stone chip in the radiator after riding it for 2 hours which cost me 600 quid to repair. The weather turned crap shortly after repairing it and I decided I was fed up and sold it to buy a trials bike (figured it didnt matter what the weather was like!).
Bought a 2006 Beta Rev 3 250 and had some bad luck with that, mainly the previous owner didnt tell me certain things about it. after fixing everything I decided I wanted a new bike so splashed out for a 2008 Gas Gas 300. Been riding trials a year now and absolutly love it =] hopefully gonna make it to the SSDT next year.

I was just this second discussing white alpinestars boots with my friend on the phone. I wanted some and he has gone out and bought them before me. personally I like them, but if they are considered a bit poofy in the trials community I think ill just make out that I tricked him into buying them and get a pair of black ones....
how are they though? compfy and waterproof?

I wouldnt agree with a Beta Feeling as light as a GasGas, I went from a Beta to a GasGas and found the feel of it to be alot lighter. we can go on forever about which bike is best though hehe.
personally I would say if you like to hop the bike around and like doing rocks etc go for a GasGas or a Sherco, I dont know much about Sherco's though, the only thing I do know is that ive never heared anyone complain about them?
Beta's are good bikes for clubmen, stuff that involves tight turns but I dont like how the suspension feels, I rode an 08 and the engine felt alot perkier than the 07. the turning circle on them is amazing too as you already know!
4rt, ive had limited time on one of these but when ive been on one I think it could be a cracking bike once you get to grips with riding it, definatly suited to older style riders where smoothness is the key (I wish i could ride like that!!), My only gripe is that it felt heavy.
Scorpa are bombproof, very good bike for the Novice rider, dead forgiving and very smooth, If i was just looking for something to jump on and go, id get a scorpa. carb is a bitch to get off though...
as for Xispa, you could buy 10 and just throw them away as you break them! this is based only on comments ive seen about bad build quality though!

Someone suggested to me that the carb on my 2008 GasGas 300 might be running lean, after the bike has been revving it starts to make a strange noise from the head, kind of like the noise you get when its running out of petrol.
is this because the float height is set wrong? if so, how do I correct it?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply pete, ill take a looksy at it.

I have had the same thing that you described, started about a month after I bought the bike new (Gas Gas 300). doesnt seem to affect the riding, just annoys me alot so im interested to know whats wrong.
mine only happens when the bikes hot though, is it the same with yours?
