  1. does anyone know where i can a rev tachometer for my 4rt so as i can check and set tickover. I know there is a draper one on market but no good as you cannot get the unit round the ht lead to take a measurement. Please help
  2. i changed to four stroke 2 years ago and wont change back. Personally so much easier to ride. You cannot say which is best for everyone you gotta just get on one a see how you like it. I will say its totally different and does take time to get used to it. Have a go, you got nothin to lose, but everything to gain
  3. Seems loads of people on this site use it for help on fixin, maintaining there bikes, perhaps it would be a good idea to have a forum specific to this. Any thoughts?
  4. suspension is a funny thing. In essesnce its personal preference and there is no hard or fast rule to how it should be set. Some people like it hard others soft. To be honest if your 13 stone its not a million miles off for you. Perhaps try winding the shock spring a turn and see what you think. Perhaps adjust the compression screw and see what you think to that. Mess about with it thats what i would do and go from there. I dont think in the beta manual it gives suspension set up unlike montesa manual
  5. Work on a sunday, you must be mad or unlucky. Believe me fella you missed a great trial, it was like summer.
  6. sounds nasty dj, dont think you have damaged engine do you? I aint that clued up on em really but give sandifords a ring monday mornin see what they reckon, im sure they will know, or suspect better. Hope to see you at charltons next week. PS Time you moved up a class as well.lol Great trials today wan it?
  7. yeah rode colonial today it was a mint event, sections for inters spot on and i hear clubman loved it. Weather i was told from an observer at one point 17 degs by end of my trial 3.45 about 9 degs. The sun was warm the skys clear. PERFECTION. If you missed it. UNLUCKY. At time of leavin brown on 1, phillipson on 6 wigg 10
  8. i heard dealers were being asked to put them up 10%, but may just be speculation. Lots of people seem to be snappin em at the minute. I guess it means your tryin i suppose.lol
  9. Gosh some people speak some crap on here. Im not going to pass opinion on here how good doug is on a 2 or 4 stroke, or whethere a beta is better than a mont.as i if i do people will try and shoot you down with there opinion. Simply put - LET HIS RESULTS DO THE TALKING. Thats where he's at this minute, it could change, but he has been a ,multi world champ. That speaks volumes and despite what people think me included you cannot take away historical fact.
  10. spend a bit more and get an 05 mont, there the business. Well thats my opinion i guess. I have one. To be honest its what you can afford i guess and what problems you are prepared to put up with. You hear so much s h ** t about people sayin dont buy this because this and that. Have a go on a few and go with what you like, its that simple. We cannot choose for ya fella.
  11. From scarborough dmc website YOUTH NATIONALS: UPDATE FRIDAY 17.30. At time of writing, both trials are still on, but we have had snow this afternoon. Please watch this site for further news, or telephone Youth Trials Secretary Anne Wilkinson on 01944 728301 or Dave Wilkinson on 07831673627. www.scarboroughdmc.co.uk
  12. im sure the beta pune is on and jack Challoner is TTT. Doug i guess is full on factory rider for beta. Not 100 per cent but not far off. To be honest i dont think there is much difference in bikes as they all come from same place. Probably just set up different for each rider.
  13. After the first round on the indoor world championship, what are peoples views on dougs performance? Is he past his best? Just not used to 2 stroke yet? Is his best to come? Are we simply convincing ourselves his best is to come based on his early days performance on a 2 stroke? Or perhaps he's just not up there with the best now? Whats your view?????????????????????????? One things for sure you can't knock him for his enthusiam for trying.
  14. dude, its dead easy, firsty get a plain sheet of a4 and make your template, takes 5 mins each side, then place the template on the technosel and draw round. Then get a hair dryer and gently heat the casing your applying to. This needs only to take the cold out of casing, be carefull no to heat any plastics in surrounding area. Then peel of your plastic and apply. Working from the middle brush to outside with sweeping motion, then then neat bit is gently heat with hairdryer, which will melt the plastic covering and make the glue wetter thus enabling a really tight stick. THATS IT. GOOD LUCK
  15. i use valvoline, its great nice quality oil and smooth. Have used it last coulpe of years without any problems. Go for it.
  16. despite your title best two stroke, have you considered four stroke. There awsome mate, so easy to ride, maintainance a doddle, and you can really bling em up especially the mont. However to answer your original question, i would try them all and make your own decision, its whats best for you. If you like the colour then thats best for you, if your influenced by mates then thats best for you, it all depends on your criteria. Here in uk it seems up north (best trials area) more people ride beta and down south there into Gas Gas. Dont ask me why but i have an opinion on that. Just get to your local dealer and ask to test the bikes you like.
  17. What an awsome event. Today (sun 13th jan) has seen a truly great event, with some really good sections taking in Low north camp in scarborough, followed by sections at ravensgill (as used in EY2DAY) For anyone who either competed today well done, those moor crossings were wicked, and the sections entertaining. A credit to scarboroughdmc for laying on the trial and a big thanks to the weather, not a drop of rain and quite mild. Oh yeah and well done to the winner ian austumule, a sensationsal ride. Will wait in anticipation for next years regs which im sure will fill up very quickly indeed. Roll on colonial.
  18. go for the mont 100% you will never look back, 4 stroke is the way ahead.
  19. to slim a 4rt down is hard without spending money. What exactly do you want as regards slimming her down? I put mitani exhaust system on which is the dogs b******, that slims here down but is costly, i presume you take the lights off and that. Cannot really think or suggest any more. You gotta remeber the 4rt is a bit fatter than other bikes but i presume you did your research before purchasing, or like an ever increasing band of people turning 4 stroke you were just mesmerized by her sexy looks.style. Bet you cannot guess what bike i ride.lol.
  20. sounds like you need to lay of the crosser cause that wont do you any good at all. That in fact will be worse for you. Secondly only ridin once a month or 12 times a year aint gonna help. You need to be riding more if time allows. Rest your back from crossing, do more riding on trials bike and build up core muscles by general excersises. just google it and see what you come up with.
  21. This im sure is going to be an awsome event, heard today over 100 riders expected and with some great prize money on offer its sure to be a bumper event. Taking in some great sections in the ever popular Low North Camp, the trial leaves the camp to take in some fine sections some people experience during the East Yorks 2 Day. With new sections being planned in and around the camp there is every chance this event is gonna prove a success. Get your entry in fast and enjoy what im sure is going to be a great event. PS. DJ with all that bling on ya bike im sure your capable of cleaning most sections mate.See you all there.
