Msa Approval For Road Trials?
The problem with the acu exemption format is its dancing around a grey area, this will only become black and white when someone is in a big pile of the brown stuff. I totally understand why pete is trying to do it legit, I will be doing the same for the Cleveland. If both trials end up getting cancelled then so be it. I got into trials for the fun of it, started helping out because I realised it was required. Sadly with all the extra paper work and responsibility the fun is diminishing, but would still rather do that than possibly end up in court or watching every rider get fined for being part of a illegal event. What I do ask of the ACU is, if this is the way we have to do things in the future GET IT SIMPLIFIED. christ I fit carpets for a living I just want boxes to tick.

Msa Approval For Road Trials?
That happened to me with the Cleveland last year pete, I replied word for word the same as you. The police were happy with that and we didn't get a visit. We have made downward facing rear registration plates compulsory you wont start if you don't have one.

Thanks Pete. At least I have a slight idea of things to come. Cheers. Paul.

Msa Approval For Road Trials?
Well that helps no end. Pete when you sent your list of officials did this have to include observers, really hope not as we are usually still getting the last couple the week before.

Msa Approval For Road Trials?
You have slightly disheartened me with this one Pete. I'm seeking permission for the Cleveland on March 24th. So i am a couple of weeks behind you in the process. Thought I had done most the hard stuff already, looks like im wrong. I hope you get it all sorted.

Exid 11 Trials Light Weight Trousers
They are not baggy like MX pants, but they are not really tight like cycling shorts. Snug I think is the best word to use. Comfortable enough I have had the full kit for a year and have no real complaints.

Exid 11 Trials Light Weight Trousers
Yes they have a little zipped pocket. The jackets are good also.

Easiest Twin Shock To Ride?
What about a 4 stroke scorpa or a Gas Gas radonair. A few years back I got a rear puncture on my Gas Gas setting out the Cleveland, so I borrowed a 125 4 stroke scorpa to ride round the course, it got me round. Not a lot of grunt in them but would be adequate for easy clubman trials, and the long ride seat was fantastic on the road and moor track runs. Tried the 170 version a year later and it was a much better.

What Did You Do To Your Gas Gas Today?
Add one more to the brotherhood. Haven't done nothing to the bike in a while as it's cold, wet and I can't be a***d. Will do it in the new year.

Fuel Type / Mix Amount.
70 is fine thats what I run. High performance fuel wont make much difference, keeping the carb clean will be better.

Southern Experts Trial
Observing everyone the same is ok in theory. But if observer on section 1 is strict, and observer on section 2 is lenient. Rider A has a momentary stop on 1, rider B has his momentary stop on 2. A =5, B = 0. Thats not really fair neither. Ideally Consistency across the board is what is needed, but getting that is always going to be difficult. Arguing with observers and blatant cheeting need to be clamped down on. Many of us have been far to lax for far too long on it, and I include myself in that. On a personal note when I drag the bike out on a weekend I couldn't give a toss what the rules are, as long as I enjoy the day I dont care, and the odd dodgy score isn't going to affect that.

A Different Approach
John, i couldn't agree with you more. we had a few riders turn up at one of our events this year for their first ever trial, unfortunately they picked one of our toughest venues to start at. Thats when i realized how hard it can be to get into this sport, they all struggled, none finished. 1 in particular had only had the bike a short time (1st every bike) things we wouldn't look twice at were a challenge for this gentleman, thankfully he didn't let it put him off forever and has continued to ride and knows what to practice now. so i was thinking that next year at some of our smaller Saturday night trials to get a practice permit or similar and advertise a conducted practice for beginners of all ages, whilst some of us put the trial on the other lads can take anyone who turns up off to learn what it's all about, Rules, scoring, routes,or anything else they want to know without the whole trial being there. then if they want to ride the trial they can or just stop to watch. And as far as a beginners route i wouldn't care if they went through the start cards and out the ends taking whatever direction they liked (let them decide how hard/easy to make the section) as long as they enjoy it, on a non award basis of course. On the subject of what the manufacturers should do with bikes, can i have a cup holder (for beer cans), better make it 2.

Superb trial. Thankyou to all involved. If you have never rode this trial before it is really worth a bash. Very enjoyable day.

I've Got A Leak Help Please
Go on YouTube and search the Gas Gas usa vids, they will be a massive help to you. I think it is the clutch repair vid that will show you how to remove and replace the clutch cover and kickstart.

A lad on here, user name cursed, has just had the same problem. Might be a good idea to Check his latest posts or message him.

I've Got A Leak Help Please
Ok if thats cracked you must check the kickstart gear & idle gear, they will both be worn which is causing the kickstart to twist whilst in use, which then causes the clutch cover to crack. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but if you dont replace them it will happen again. There is another post on here about the same problem. Have a read through it.
