    Olle shock

You can freight it to Lampkins in the UK and he would freight you a replacement. Or you can order a Beta rear shock rebuild kit if you can find a shock absorber technician to do a rebuild for you....
  2. You need to set your bike to 1/3 sag wen you stand on it (with your riding gear). Be mm accurate! Then adjust damping to suit riding style preferences...

    Olle shock

The Paioli shock is your only option...... It is a very high tech shock specifically designed for the Rev3 link-less rear suspension. The shock you refer to is for the newer Beta bikes. Talk to the Beta importer ...... he does rebuilt shock exchanges for your bike. Ralphy
  4. Go to the bicycle shop and get some tyre sealant goop (Stans is one brand), put it in the valve stem and re-inflate. No more leaks. Done
  5. Been here a little. Get some coaching at a local trial (get a top rider to look at your stance) to make sure you are stood correctly. Check your leavers. Lighten the leaver pull by using the end of the leaver rather than the bend(??make and sense).....Move them inboard as far as they go and readjust them for your finger reach. Lube the leavers Replace the little leaver bushings Have the leavers just below horizontal. Rest the problem rather than spending midweek trying to strengthen the wrist.

    Rear brake help!

Right-o Ben Have a bottle of brake fluid, an empty catch bottle, clear tube to send excess fluid to the catch bottle, & 8mm spanner ready Adjust the brake leaver so there is a little clearance to the master cylinder piston. Really important. Remove the fluid reservoir cap/lid. Carefully force the pistons back into the calliper body and jam some wood between 'em to keep them still. Remove the pads - pads become useless with a drop of brake fluid on 'em Hang the caliper so the bleed nipple is pointing up hill. A - Undo the bleed nipple while applying a little pressure to the brake lever...... (put the tube over the nipple to take the excess fluid away) B - Close the bleed nipple and release the brake lever and check the reservoir is full Repeat A B A B A B A B A B A B A B A B quite quickly until air bubbles stop coming out of the bleed tube. With the Beta be prepared to do this for 10 minutes or more so keep recycling the fluid. Nip up the bleed nipple put your pads back in a try it out. if that doesn't work (it does every time for me) you may need a master cylinder rebuild kit from the Beta parts man. Wash up with a water rinse. Good luck.
  7. Word is very good at getting traction. Probably a lot to do with the VERY high tech rear shock.

    Smoking Beta rev 3

Your 'fluffy' running bike is probably because it is running rich and you likely have old/excess oil in the pipe. Go find a HUGE hill and really work the bike. Smoke will spew out of the pipe but that is good. Do this a few times unitl it stops. Or remove the whole exhaust system. Remove the muffler packing. Flush inside the tubes with petrol a few times. Let the excess fuel evaporate over night (important!). Put in new packing. Re assemble. CLean and properly oil the air filter. Check it doesn't 'fluff' while riding now. If it does post up here again.
  9. Sometimes the 4T bikes are hard to start when warm.... typically after a stall, cough, or tip over..... due to a little too much fuel going into a non firing cylinder. The hot start knob and a slow/gentle kick start and it will normally fire it up dead easy. Ralphy
  10. Adjust the suspension static sag to 1/3 sag front and rear when you are standing on it - be mm accurate!. Jetting is lean in the mid range to pass Euro emissions so raise the needle (i went all the way up). Get a Jitsie fuel mix screw and try lots of different settings to get you fav pick-up & anti stall setting. Keep up with the greasing of parts - do one area every other month and it isn't a big task (wheels pop bearing seals off, swing arm, head stock, linkages etc etc)
  11. It could be. I may have read the translation wrong. Hell last time i was wrong was a few years ago now so i must be due another error.....
  12. After doing the mod to two bikes..... i'd do it to every bike i'd own regardless of brand of clutch.
  13. Yes...... I have and I did.... it worked fine. You will have to get a smaller rear disk and (I think) the spacers may be different lengths - what ever, you can use the spacers off the wheel you have now and compare.
  14. Beta 4t is a lovely smooth bike. I'd never have a 2t as long as these are being made.
  15. Have you checked the coil lead...... remove the lead from the coil and cut off 10mm then screw it back in to the coil..... bad connections will stop a spark.
  16. Yeah saw that. All that is saying is Xispa won a court charge by Sherco of unfairly dumping stock in France????? Doesn't say much about the bikes or how well they are doing.
  17. I used the original NGK platinum (before they went to Iridium) plugs on the old fantic and they were great. It really helped - nice strong spark just off idle.
  18. FWIW All the bike models are in NZ - Most are available to order with a rare occasion of stock in NZ. New prices are fair v UK prices dependent on the Euro exchange rate. Gear and spares are available here in NZ, again prices are Ok, but if you have a favorite discount product that you like in the UK - bring it/one out with you.
  19. Yes brilliant. And the sun is out!
  20. You may have a damaged crankshaft oil seal.
  21. You may find the brake pistons are sticking and needs new pads ?!?!?
  22. Nope. Wrong. If you compare standard Beta exhausts you are wrong.

    2003 Rev 3 270

Many years of the beta's have had the water pump problem. It can be fixed with parts and the correct coolant. The bike is 8 years old so expect everything to be warn out a fair amount and if you are really fussy it'll be costly to bring it all back to 'nice'. Check wheel bearings, swing arm bearings, throttle slop, head bearings, rattle in the engine. Heck check everything and take a friend to look at it. The 270 really is a powerful bike. Beware it can be difficult to ride. Many 'big' guys get on fine with a 200 or 250cc bike.

    Smoothing it our

Yeah mate i remember all of that and some. I used to think that was a good bike. Good motor but basically POS it was. Model 243? I remember tuning up to the Pems in park ferme a bit (lot) late and saying bring me them parts..... and watching the visa card get drained - it needed a new shock on top of it all! - but i got it done and finished in time. I distantly remember the Pems boys could not help (rules) so we did our own wrenching. I thought it was fine and just got on with it. I took my bike into park and walked out chuffed at what i had just done. THEN!!!!! I saw a prominent rider had a team working on his bike in the park. Right miffed i was. One year was the huge floods and bikes/riders late. We near enough swam some rivers. Ha, the army worked with Roy for the fuel and it was great. Brilliant service. I turned up for a fuel stop and chocolate bar and had a peat fire under the the exhaust mid box gawd did we all have a little panic - I was parked next to the fuel tanks!. I thought i biffed the shiny bike the year after? Down a drainage ditch beside the road at high speed. Feck i hurt my finger - broke it actually. Three years I did the SSDT and finished em all. Now probably getting sedate Sandra and i have the BMW adventure bike for weekends and hols. Still doing a bit of trials.
