Change the Gearbox oil. This would be the main cause of clutch drag. There maybe a build-up of muck on the plates that will stick them together. You can also take the plates out and clean them in a solvent like petrol, allow to dry then reassemble.
  2. Put it on Ebay and let the buyers tell you how much it is worth.

You could always come to Australia in October for some good trials. 1/2 Victorian State Championships 9 Australian Masters Games in South Australia followed by the Australian Championships in Queensland. Two or three weeks of trials in Australia, what could be better than that. If anyone wants to come drop me a line and I'll see if I can organise bikes.

Regarding the sump guard bolts replace them with Socket Head Cap Bolts (Allen key bolts but with a dome head) and if the thread becomes a problem (never has happened to me) get some Helicoil inserts in there. But all said and done the Beta is fantastic. but I am biased which is very easy to be when it comes to Beta's.

You would need to machine out the top tripple clamp and saddles to accept the Fat Bars and there would be no going back. Ensure there is sufficent clearance between the bolts but I think that should be OK.

Yes it will but you will need to machine down the spacer on one side or change it from the rev3 when you need to use it.
  11. Who the hell are the Purple Helmets? Sounds like a gay Swedish band, not that there is anything wrong with that.
  12. Sounds like a poll is required for this most important fact.

  18. With Takahisa Fujinami taking the win last weekend only the 3 listed riders above have any chance of winning the world championship. Standings are, Takahisa Fujinami 250 Dougie Lampkin 226 Adam Raga 222

And it will fall over when it's left alone now.
  20. 1st 20 points 2nd 17 points 3rd 15 points 4th 13 points Fuji 193 Raga 179 Dougie 174 Cabestany 141 If Dougie wins all 5 remaining days with Fuji second Dougie will not win. I think if Dougie does not win the next two days he season will be sunk if Fuji places ahead of him at those days. Better start learning Japenese.
  21. Might be the only way you get to see anymore World round trials Ringo.

There must be a thriving Trials club somewhere in Africa These are the emails from a person trying to buy a bike from a local person here. I received the same email as the first one for a Sherco 200 that I had for sale at the same time. Dear, I am interested in your 1975 Montesa Cota 247. I want to purchase it. If this is still available for sale kindly get back to me with your final selling price. Let me hear from you.David.-- Dear, I am very sorry not replying earlier. Thankz for your email, I really appreciate. I am still interested in your Montesa Cota 247. The price is okay by me. I have a client who is owing me, i will instruct him to issue you the payment of the Montesa Cota 247 on my behalf. I spoke with him this morning and he promise to send you a cashier check on my behalf. So you do me a favour, when the check clear in your bank you have to send the balance to my shipper. They will take care of the shipping of the Montesa Cota 247 to me.If this is okay by you please get back to me with your contact information where my client will send the payment and also your address where my shipper will collect the Montesa Cota 247 for shipping. Infact, what is very vital in this transaction is that will whole hearted trust each other, thus enabling a smooth business. You know i don't know you facial. So get back to me with the information required from you. best regards,Dave.
  24. I would say he has dismounted so I would give him a 5 but being the observer you may not see how far off the bike he was if it was quick so he may get away with a 2. Easy to sit here and see he is off his bike but possibly not so easy onsite in real time.

I always checked the oil level with the dipstick not screwed in. Next time you you change the oil make sure you use the 650ml and then use the dipstick and see where it needs to be to show the correct level.
