  1. Looks like your present exhaust would not have any significant back pressure,Stinger(tailpipe)is far bigger than even a 500cc two stroke would need. When I was a kid we'd yank the baffles out of our trailbikes and have dad weld a washer with a 3/4" hole at the end of the exhaust, they'd run fine(not better than originally baffled, just louder!)If you want to keep the cool old Greeves look install a J.C.Whitney baffle into the tailpipe and experiment with different size washers to adjust the back pressure,be cautioned that if it starts to run great with alot of top end zap it may overheat the piston and kill it. I'm no two-stroke exhaust expert as far as design engineering but I'd try gutting that muffler into a open chamber and then integrating a conventional two stroke silencer core inside a big tailpipe for a vintage look. JCW has these specifically for two-strokes(made by pertronix)1 1/2" outside diameter Conventional Expansion Chambers are not necessary, and might be counterproductive as they are tuned to specific power ranges, personally, when I rode Harescrambles the only time I noticed and power loss from a dented pipe was when I mashed my KTM headpipe down to a half-inch wide against the ignition cover
  2. Seems like just having a forum for classifieds would be better, then we could all slag on each other for how much we're asking for our junk! Could be divided into separate areas. Possibly available to site supporters only?

    Fantic 201

    Fantic 301 say "Fantic Monosystem"
  4. Tryalsshop is a good source for Fantic is USA,call Mike,http://www.tryalsshop.com/ You can also call Bob Wright or Bill Pye,Bob Wright Bill Pye Or with some creative hacking you could likely booger a Gasgas rear fender to it...
  5. You might contact AllBallsRacing and see if they can match them up.
  6. I'd like to run the VP C10 100 octane, but my local guy would have to get it just for me,and as such would cost double the VP-110,Think I'll try the 50-50 mix as that's the most easily available non-oxygenated fuel that won't bog me down with excessive octane and may not require much rejetting.
  7. No hurry, things are running just fine with the E10 as I'm taking all precautions,I just want to protest the damn E10(and they're pushing for E15!)
  8. Oh Man! Say it ain't so! Been missin' you guys at events,I just helped out and worked the Stoney Lonesome event, was wondering if you'd show up. My Brother works for FedEx in Memphis,if I ever go down to see him I'll havta look you up. I may make it to a Paris Tn vintage event next year as we also have Family in that area,we'll keep in touch. I was gonna bump to senior class next year on my Gasser so we could run the same line and compare scores BTW,I assume this was because of finding a job down there so congrats
  9. Got my silencer, and it's very sweet, but I've noticed the standard gusset cracks in my frame(really just the paint is cracked as of yet) so it's time for a major rebuild of the 240,I'm bumping up a class so I won't absolutely need to ride the 240 at every event so I think I'll drop silly $$$$ on her and make her look nice in addition to working well.
  10. Trying to decide what fuel to run, here are my choices: Vp-110 leaded- easy to get. The fuel distributor across the street from my house keeps in stock, reasonable price. Any VP unleaded would cost me alot more and I'd have to buy more than I could use quickly. 93 octane(us pump) has alcohol, comes from a station that uses separate hoses for each grade,so I get 100% premium each time I buy 2 gallons,My Grand Cherokee runs great on this fuel, and it has very aggressive knock sensors, runs like crap due to oversize tires when octane isn't up to snuff.been running this fuel ok in my bikes as I only buy just enough to use in a couple of weeks, just don't like the Idea of alcohol in my 2 strokes,so I'd like to change. I can get premium without alcohol, but it's twenty miles out of my way each time I need fuel, octane is a bit below the alcohol premium above. Grand Cherokee ran the same on this as premium above. I can run a 50-50 mix of the VP-110 and a alcohol free regular grade fuel that the fuel distributor keep in one of the pumps of a local gas station for all the guys running landscaping businesses,it's specs indicate it may actually be as high as 92 research octane but it's motor specs bring it down to 87 us pump,I'm guessing a 50-50 mix would be about 98 us pump. VP-110 CountryMark Fuels specifications US Pump octane=research+motor/2 Bikes are: 2003 GasGas 280TXTEdition(aluminum fuel tank) Fantic 240 (some sort of plastic fuel tank) Fantic 309(plastic fuel tank that is paintable, don't know what it would be)
  11. And the scary thing is the government is pushing to go to 15% alcohol, which will damage all the fuel handling equipment out there. It's fooking idiotic, putting our food supply into our gas tanks. politician are all criminals I do find it ironic that the farmers who cry for Ethanol plants to sell their crops to have to buy special fuel without their products in it...
  12. 1OldBanjo- Just west of you CountryMark Fuels sell a premium without Ethanol,it'll be marked 91 Octane on the pumps and have no Green leaf on the identifying sticker on the pump,if it's marked 93 or 94 octane it's got ethanol. CountryMark gasoline specs Only Race Fuel my local distributor sells has lead in it,thinking about running it anyway, might just run it straight without cutting it with any crappy "Gasohol" and see what happens.
  13. ...My wife wants a new kitchen so she has too go... Hope she doesn't see this post and read it the way all of us would Maybe you could just sell off the front wheel and brake backing plate and finance her project...
  14. 4:58,that's me in the orange shirt ,gray haired old guy,we were right next to the Taddy cheering section,Big Fun!
  15. Cafe Racer?-Wrong forum! Seriously, just put the shifter directly onto the shaft without the linkage.

    Usa Ebay.

Looks like it's the one being parted on gasgasusa classifieds
  17. "regarding trial bikes we are thinking about but it will take time"<----- In the Email I received from dr. Federico Fregnan,General Manager a week and a half ago(I was trying to buy a few of the cool "Broncco" shirts from them, but they were out of stock. Doesn't sound like they are ready to start developement of a trials bike just yet,I'd say they'll have to sell lots of playbikes first. While it'd be fun if they could bring out something like the Ossa I think if they're smart they'll wait and see how well they sale,I wouldn't mind if they started with Yammie engined bikes if it got them back into the mix,Hell, they could just rebadge the Gasgas japanese market prototype without the electric start and a smaller tank and I'd be happy, then possibly step up with a watercooled model a bit later, offering four stokes when everyone else drops them might be a way to get a secure slice of the market. 2 stroke 300cc Caballero? fark, maybe I'll sell my LC4e,sounds like fun!

    On Any Sunday

We were there that fateful day in '75,surrounded by pirates,They were surely p****d off when they announced the winner(At the Indy Mile you can't see the bikes going down the front straight from the Grandstand seats---lame) he was in forth place all race long, the Wrecking Crew would pull him bad through the first half of the straights then he'd hook up and pull right up to the back off the lead pack just as they pitched it into the corners. I read somewhere that he had a kill switch wired to #3 cylinder and would hold it down until the bike hooked up on every straight then let it go once she did. Actually it was more fun watching him ride the underpowered XS650 based bikes the previous years,he would run wayyyyyy outside on the cushion and pitch it absolutely sideways like a speedway bike,no better show on earth... I apologize for participating in the corrupting of this thread
  21. Walk your line like previously stated but don't watch any riders before you unless they're on your route, don't even look at the other routes at all.
  22. Make sure you clean out all passages in the carb completely, but I bet it's the float,A new float is only about twenty bucks ,Call Herdan Corp or go to Dellorto direct, best solution is a OKO,but I wait until you get the other stuff on the old bike sorted before spending the dough on an OKO(saw your post on ADVRider) but when you start getting her working good you definately want the OKO.
  23. And then there's guys like me,I bought a TS,then a Air Mono, and nowI'm hot to buy a modern bike,Trying to justify a new "Econo" model but hoping for that bargain 5 to 10 year old bike,I just want to do things my Fantic seems to struggle on, For me,once I get my AirMono through something I can then figure out a way for me to ride it on the 240.I don't think I'd risk a XPA with my money though...Don't have that much to burn...
  24. No problem to do it in the swingarm,I just converted my Fantic 240 to a tubeless rear rim that way.Either order OE spokes or send samples to Buccannons. I think truing it in the swingarm works fine as you can center it easily. If you've not done one before take multiple pictures of the lacing pattern before you cut it apart.Mark the hub for the spokes that lead to either side of the valve stem, you want to make sure the valve stem stays between the groups of 4 spokes so you can reach the valve stem to air it up. Make sure you use "spoke prep" on the threads(an antisieze from either a bicycle shop or Buccannons)
