Before condemning any electronic component I clean all ground points, including ignition to engine case(requires removing flywheel)and engine to frame. Ohms is a ok test but you need a good enough connection to flow small amounts of current and voltage to signal the spark to happen. )Zero ohms with the amount of electrical pressure provided by the multimeter may not be zero ohms once real current starts to flow.

I vote that all us Fantic guys have a get together at Gary's place sometime...
-
Looks gorgeous, just like all your bikes!
Upped the pics you sent me to my photobucket
Now out to the garage to make some progress on my 309!(but gotta put fork seals and rejet the SuperSherpa first before getting back to the 309 )
-
White looks very sharp,I like it with the red frame too.
-
Donate to local club to make trophy.

I've got a alloy kickstarter on my 240

You're in So.Cal? best to deal with:
Buchanan's Spoke & Rim, Inc.
805 W. Eighth Street
Azusa, California 91702
-
Go to RYP website, look through dealer list or just call RYP,Ryan is great to deal with and a tremendous ambassador for the sport.
I'm like you,and prefer to make my orders from the comfort of my recliner,I make many more impulse buys that way but there is no "Bike Bandito" for trials bikes,so just call them.

Bar risers make for a more natural position when you roll you bars forward, high rise bars seem to do weird things with the angles when rotated forward from a trail riding position, but he might try lowering the footpeg mounts to get down into the bike, then use less rise at the bars. BTW,That 200 is beauty!

So your the one who bought the 200 listed on Harrisburg craigslist? Man,it was all I could do to not call on that one when It came up(I use Jaxed Mash to search all USA Craigslist) My garage is full right now with seven bikes, just couldn't get myself to jump on it.Gonna clean up that TY350 and sell asap,I've let a few other fantics slide by,I've nae bloody interest in any other trials bikes!(Except my Gasgas TXT!)
Gumby,
P.M. me your phone and or email and we'll yammer about Fantics sometime

I have a 240 and a 309,I freakin' love the 240,has a CT OKO carb and a Stefano silencer and it just absolutely snaps when I twist the throttle yet will just pottle along and pull when I need it to. It may be different than traditional trials bike operating characteristics but it's super fun,I'd like to put the 240 engine onto the 309 frame, opposite of conventional wisdom . I haven't ridden a 200 or even seen one,or a 300 either.
I do have a Yamaha TY350 that I have been attempting to tune in,(a Previous post mentioned them)It's not turning out to be my cup of tea,too heavy of flywheel, seems to slip out sideways where my 240 tracks straight, but yet the weight feels too far back at the same time. just can't turn it as well,I am a beginner but my 240 and Gasgas don't cause any trouble with full lock turns. I'm Gonna sell that TY and try to pick up another 240 someday and stuff it into the 309,can't bring myself to sacrifice the 240 I have.
Is a 200 significantly lighter? Is a back kick as reliable as a forward kick? I had Minarelli powered bikes (50's,75's and 100's) when I was young, didn't really care for their clutch action, maybe they improved the trials models?
What piston supplier is everyone using for their 340 conversion bikes? My 309 is a bit rattly, won't be ridden again until I replace the piston, but I guess they have a reputation for quick piston wear(doing a complete restomod of her)

I don't know for sure but I doubt the top ends just swap, besides,My TY350 is a big smoothy, very controllable.Ride it before you get any fancy ideas.
-
Yea,can't imagine a "Washington's Birthday Sale" would bring in the buyers over there...
-
I sometimes will move my heels up to the footpegs between sections on the fourth loop, changes the muscles that are holding you up and keeps the proper muscles fresh for the parts that count
-
Yea,like mono to twinshock conversions!

Indianapolis Aug 26th
Our club may attempt to build a track this year, have races year after.
-
Heh heh,I know, but my family was a Broncco minibike dealer for awhile in the early '70's they were made by Fantic.
As far as 4 trials manufacturers being the realistic choices in the USA,I hate to see the small US market cut any thinner, people have to make a living at it for us to have any choices at all.
-
Make sure your engine to frame and coil and condenser grounds are clean and strong, points don't like resistance anywhere in their circuit!
How do you wash your bike? Might be worthwhile to remove the cover from the ignition and spray it out with contact cleaner after washing then allow to dry before refitting the cover.

Countrymark fuels specifications
Looks like countrymark has two grades of ethanol-free fuel,a 87 octane and a 91 octane,to which they add ethanol to bump up the rating. Not available at all their stations, not a national chain, but check with the local farmers and I bet you can find something comparable.
I think we had this discussion recently.
Ethanol really only causes trouble if the fuel sits for awhile.

Great pics,That's the way I want to use the Sherpa,I'll do a few mods to trialsize it a bit more(move footpegs, trials handlebars) and just putter around like the Grandpa I have become,I get my competition jollies from trials now,My KTM 380 EXC days are behind me,But I'm having more fun riding now than ever!
-
Thanks,I may call him and see if I can run down and see one when they get the shipment in,He stated in his forum when I asked about them that he was attempting to get them exempted so they can be registered, here in Indiana we can get a ORV registration and the local counties around where I live allow you to ride on the county roads. I can easily wait until his next shipment as I have no desire to make time payments on toys anymore.
-
If you don't mind what kind of price range did you get quoted on the T-Ride?
I just bought a used Super Sherpa to ride 'cause I just got tired of the bigazz 640LC4 in the woods.
One lap around my tiny backyard before the inclement weather set in convinced me that I've made the right D/S choice, may take some work to fit a trials tire to the rear, but that's not really important for how I'm gonna use it.

Jon's TY350 is featured in this month's T&E News
-
I,for one, don't really care if they become available here,I may be in the market for a new bike next year but 4 different choices are adequate. Don't need the pie slices cut to thin for the brave souls trying to make a living selling trials bike stuff
*Edit* I would be cool with a return of FANTIC...
