Hi gang. I recently had a tankful of dodgy fuel. While out practising, the Ty just stalled while idling, and refused to start again. unfortunately, this is when I started to mess about with the mixture screws!! I have since cleaned out the tank and carb, but cannot get the bugger to start. I assume I have screwed (!!!) up the mixture. Does anyone know a good starting point to set the 2 screws at to help me kick her over?? Cheers, Nick

My TY 175 is progressing nicely. I have read on this forum the mixed results that people have had with the Electrix World system. Some have said some very nice things, others have had no luck and everyone seems to agree that they are not especially communicative with their customers. In my case, I sent several e-mails and none received any response at all. When I ordered an "electronic ignition" from an American source, the Electrix World unit arrived. So...that's what I am using. just picked up a 75 TY175. It has footrests that are bolted on the lower part of the frame.. below the kickstarter/CS sprocket. I see that there are kits to move them back, so I assume that was a factory option for these bikes? (I'm just starting to learn about these bikes so please bear with me). secondly, and more importantly, I see what look like a couple of different kits (or maybe they are all the same?) but wondering if I need to also replace the shifter/brake lever? I just got a TY from Canada, about 3,000 feet or 1,000 meters higher than Maine here at sea level. It won't run without the choke at idle. There's green slime in the carb on everything made of brass. I'm wondering if a re-jet is required, I know it needs cleaning at least. Are there recommended jet sizes to start from? Also, someone removed the oil injection, but I see a line to the intake in the front of the carb from the pump, and I was wondering if that should be plugged off. Back in the 80's, I removed the oil injection off a Suzuki TS185, but I drilled holes above the main bearings so fuel mix could get in there and lubricate them. Before I tear this all apart…

Hi, I bought a ty twin back in 1994 when I was 14. The last time I had it out it cut out and never started again (almost 10 years ago). I'm going to buy a starter tune up kit etc for it and try to get it going. It's been sitting in a dry shed the whole time so I don't think it'll be seized. What should my procedure be? Spray wd40 into cylinder? Also want to change gearbox oil, but which oil do I use? It was a 1986 'C' registered bike and I've been telling people for almost 20 years that it was a 1986 twinshock, but that's surely incorrect??!! Hello, Bought a ty250 as a running bike, saw video of it running ( i live far from where it came from), had it shipped and now i can't seem to get it running. I have kicked and kicked till my foot is bruised, have had it burp and fart a bit, won't start. Tried a bit of fuel directly in the plug hole which got it turn over 3 times but not catch and go. I've spoken with the seller he says he cleaned the carb as well as put new points and condenser on prior to the video. He said he had heard of the condenser packing it in on installation which doesn't make sense as he got it to run. I'm out of ideas, anyone have any insight. PS not sure how much difference this wi…

Can anyone tell me where hose from rear of carb on exhaust side should be routed? Bike is 250c & standard vm26ss mikuni Appears to connect to the emulsion jet & I assume this is the air valve mentioned in the carb specs, at the moment the hose is approx 100mm long & have looped around front of carb to keep from being kinked shut What effect does this have?

Can anyone help, im restoring a 1976 TY175 and would like to know if anybody could tell me what colour shade of white the tank/exaust guard etc is as the plastics are original and are an off white almost ivory/cream in colour.

Been riding Fantic T/S' for ages, and have a TY 250 mono that seems to work just like a modern bike, so imagine my supprise when I got a really nice majesty 250, wich seems as flat as a pancake, spoke to a few Yam boys, and was imformed they are all like that?? well are they?? Dont get me wrong , it seems to climb anything, but you have to hang on and wait, not confidence inspiring. How does yours go????

I ordered one of these along with and SM front pipe for my TY175 and they arrived yesterday. The holes don't line up quite correctly with the studs out of the head on the front pipe and will require a bit of modification which is annoying but as the bike is 25 years old to be expected. What I was surprised about is that the WES silencer/mid box does not have a hole in the main mounting bracket. Has anyone else fitted one of these? Are you meant to drill it yourself or have I been sent a duff one? Cheers Dave

I notice on some TY250 the left hand crankcase cover has been cut down to expose the front sprocket, I presume this is to make it easier to change the sprocket without disturbing the electrics. Two questions am I right and secondly is there an optimal position to cut the case? I have a 1974 model. Thanks for any help

I recently bought a cracking TYZ 250 and there is one thing that is intriguing me. It has got the number "18" stamped into the top of the headstock, just in front of the radiator cap. Does anyone know what it signifies, if anything?

Back again...no sooner have you guys helped me see the light with my pressure plate, than I run into new issues with the kickstarter. I picked up a new kickstart lever and it's mounting hardware from TY Trials, as well as a new return spring. When I reassembled the unit and closed up the case all seemed well. I could push down on the lever and the starter would activate and the kickstart lever would return to its proper place...i.e. not touching the side case. After a few tentative dabs, the main shaft moved out about a half of an inch and when I pushed down on the lever it did not want to release promptly and when I gave it a couple of jiggles, it appeared to have moved …

The 30year old manual suggests using 10/30 fork oil and 126cc in each leg. Does anybody use 5wt oil or any other weight ? Only asking as I use 5wt in my Beta and it would save me a lot of money if I use the same in both. Does anybody use the 120mm air gap principal (spring out) rather than measuring 126cc of oil. I'm after a set of 'Magicals' fork springs for my TY Pinky, but the website has been off for 'maintenance' for at least a month. Have they gone out of business, or can anyone offer a different explanation? Cheers, David

A friend of mine has aquired a 320 majesty for restoration and I noticed the exhaust has a different header pipe that crosses over the cylinder head, is this normal for a 320 or has it been modified?

I got my TY175, now dubbed "Pinkie Pie", back in February but it took until last Friday 'till I got it back into one piece ... and even then only because I was entered into the Downland trial today! I didn't manage to finish* but did have a lot of fun, and I love this bike So, phase 1 has been Majesty-ised frame, lengthenned swing arm, steeper yokes, fatbar handlebars, Rock Shocks (very plush!), SM and Wes exhaust (very loud!), and lots of little fixed bits from where the previous owner didn't use any grease on anything. This has taken it from an unrideable turkey (zero back suspension action) to really pleasant to ride - once I got to grips with it it doesn't fee…
