Has anyone a suggestion for a more generous seat for my 1974 TY250? I want to trail ride rather than trial ride. Is there any easy bolt on seat from some other model that will put enduro-comfort under me? Thanks Kodiak Bill

Can anyone tell me if a TY175 is the same engine/gearbox as a TY125 with a larger bore and piston, and is the con-rod the same? Thanks. Eiger. :madsanta:

Hi Gang. I have had my 1993 TY250 Pinky for about 2 years. I have never trialled before, and am just learning the basics. As I get better, I have started to find things that could be improved on the bike. The main thing is that it has always been slow to return to a normal idle after the throttle is opened. For an idea, if i blip the throttle for about 1/2 a second, the engine takes about 4 seconds to get back to idle. Is this normal? I would prefer a quicker response and return, to allow me to use the engine braking instead of the rear brake. I have tried to tweak the carb screws, but always seem to end up with a high idle speed or stalling! Also, I don't wantto en…

Hi chaps, I've been told the later twin shock TYs have lighter engines than the A model. I have read a thread about the crank assembly being lighter but balanced out with a heavier flywheel weight. The spec sheets I've seen state that overall weight is the same for all the twin shock TYs (93kg) so would lead me to believe the engines are exactly the same weight. Anyone had them on the scales?

Hi I have purchased a 2nd hand exhaust for my TY250D from america, and need some advise on removing carbon/ oil deposits from the in side of the exhaust. I read some where that heating the exhaust on a bbq can burn off these deposits, but I am concerned that the heat might distort the exhausts shape. Is it ok to heat my exhaust on a bbq? Many Thanks, Will

So here is the last part to be burnt out or cleaned in some way. I was thinking maybe some drain cleaner? Drano or something like that? MEK? As you already may know, the exit hole is very small. So this does not lend itself to cleaning with a scraper or screwdriver. I have to go and get two more gallons of degreaser and soak this thing again overnight. but any thoughts are much appreciated.

I have seen the extending plates to weld onto the standard swing arm, however is there a longer model from another bike that will fit? I have a mini majesty frame that came without a swing arm and am looking to extend by 2 to 3 inches. Any photos of your solution welcome.

Anyone fitted one of those after market one piece fibreglass tank covers come seat for TY Monos? Curious about the quality, fit, durability etc. Any feedback appreciated. I have a Pinky with ugly stained plastic tank, hence the idea of improving the look as the tank cannot be cleaned up (so I'm told). Thanks guys.

Well I rode the 74 TY250 in it's first Trial (with me). Beautiful day, 60 degrees and sunny. The bike was a joy. Never a complaint, never a hiccup. Pulled good in all gears. Running the waited flywheel and very low gearing so I could creep through tight turns. Not a lot of back pressure to slow you on the steep down hills. Started first kick every time (well as long as you turned the switch to the on position). Bad news: Going over about a 24" fallen tree I mis-did and ended up coming straight down on the skid plate , which cracked (seems to have spared the cases), and bent the shift lever into a pretzel. Had put a set of worn tires on which slid a couple of tim…

I have a 1988 TY250 Mono. Its all working and normal - no mods other than a disk brake conversion. Its a competition model with no brackets for battery box, lighting bits or other non competition parts. I then bought a lighting kit so i can get an MOT (daylight is ok) and ride to areas where i can trial. I have half fitted this kit and found a few problems - can anyone help me? 1) there are no switches for the lights - and the wiring between the headlight and the loom are different. 2) there are two bullet connectors (1M & 1F) under the tank - what are they for (horn?) 3) how to mount the rear brake light switch (near the padal) - any ideas - anyone done this an…
