Has anyone tried riding trials on a KT250 using only three of the six clutch springs? I've done this with a couple of TY250 twinshocks and it works out very nicely. Before I try it on my KT, has anyone already tried it?

Ello peeps. I have just watched this ty250 go through on ebay. The petrol tank looks different to all the others i have seen. Is it different? It looks to have a larger capacity. Or am I just an idiot who doesnt know what he's talking about?

  5. Please could anyone tell me the correct specification (width, radius, length, height, etc) to replicate the low mounted alloy 'trials' version of the front mudguard original to the Sachs engined Wassell trials bikes of the early 1970's ? I'm trying to restore a bike and photos I've taken off the internet seem to vary. One supplier I contacted tells me he has over 60 different sizes of front alloy 'trials' mudguard so I need to be more specific. Thanks.

I was going to replace thirty years old front fork springs. The length of the new ones (which were said to be for 348!) were only 47 cm but my original are 50 cm. What's the right length? So whatever it is, I desided to lathe some nylon spacers (30-40 mm) and try with them.

Hi there hope someone can help I've just bought a tank seat unit for my 1973 Cota 247 that has the original fibreglass tank and not the separate aluminium tank. I got it to replace a leaking Ali tank and cover. Unfortunately, the 12mm petrol tap from the ali tank does not fit the fibreglass tank. The tap boss on the fibreglass tank appears to have a 16mm metric thread on it. Unfortunately, the tank came without a petrol tap and none of the usual firms can supply a 16mm petrol tap. Any ideas on what to do please?

Hi, Has anyone out there been able to rebuid the stock (Showa) shocks on a TLR250 ?? I have bought some NJB Trick Shocks which are great, BUT the longest I could buy were still a bit shorter than the stock lenght of the TLR shocks. This has upset the steering geometry & my bike now steers like a bus. I have dismantled my stock TLR shocks as much as I'm capable of; does anybody know if you can buy seals? Shaft is 12.5mm. It looks like the cap will spin off the shock body with a special tool. Thanks, Gary B.

My mate is after a cheap way into twinshock trials and is after a TY250. He is a bike mechanic so doesnt mind if he has to buy one in bits or do some engine work but the more complete the bike the better. He is skint (lost his job when the russian killed TVR) and needs to pay as little as possible,

Hi there! Can anyone please confirm how to fit a kill switch to Montesa 247 Cota. Is it just a case of connecting one of the wires to the lower terminal on the coil, i.e. the terminal with the blue wire attached, and the other wire to an earth on the frame or bars? This is what is stated in the Clymer manual for electronic type ignition but it doesn't mention how to fit switch for standard points type system. Jamieson

Hi, has anyone else suffered from their KT tank leaking. It looks as though mine has a slight crack where the rubber strap pulls over. As its going to need welding can anyone help with the original colour codes or where I would be able to buy the tank decals. Thanks Andy

Thers a good article about the bike on the BSA Otter site if anyones interested, and if you have one of these bikes or know anything about them I'd be very intrested in hearing from you
