hi can anyone tell me what spark plug to put in my ossa mar 250 & the petrol mix the bike hasn't been ran for 10 years and is rearing to go

Just curious about a term that is used by my trials brothers across the pond.What is a "tick over"? I,m guessing maybe a compression relief.Sorry if it,s a daft question and thanks in advance for an answer.

Had a fuel leak from my filter on Sunday, figured it wasn't a problem I'd just bypass it ... except that the filter has been doing a lot of filtering, and I could see all the rust going down to the carb after putting a new clear hose on (fortunately didn't try to start the bike, so I don't need to rebuild the carb!) So ... what's the best way to clear out the worst of the rot from a steel tank? I just want it to be ok through this summer really, not worried about a permanent fix. So far the suggestions are lead shot, vinegar, or just swill it out with fuel.

I have a follow up question in my search for new rear shocks for vintage trials competitions. What does "Damping" mean and what is the actual different in riding with "standard damping" or with "light/ super light damping"? Thanks.

Having seen what ethanol can do to 70's spanish fiberglass fuel tanks, I am curious if the later plastic (Bultaco, SWM, Fantic) tanks can carry 10% ethanol fuel without damage. How about the liner in an alloy tank (1976 and up TY250... C & D models). What other parts need updating for this type fuel (can't afford $10/gal for race gas... have to drive 120 miles to get it anyway). Anyone know for sure? Thanks

How can I get the outer case of the old bearing out of the headstock? There is no 'edge' to knock against as the headstock tube flares out to accept the bearing, so the headstock tube is slightly smaller than the case. Is welding a piece of steel to the bearing case so that I can tap it out or pull it out the only way, or is there a special tool to do the job? Thanks, AMO

Well, I guess I should have my head examined but I just purchased a 83' Italjet 350T Piuma. The bike was left back here in the States after a world round. It is complete with the scrutineers marks on both hubs, engine and steering head. The paint dabs are scribed with the number 26 (Rider No, 26). I need a few bits and larger pieces to bring it back to being respectable. The mud guards, white tank, side stand and factory kick lever. During the round, the rider broke the kicker shaft as everone is well aware was a huge problem with these bikes. The shaft has been replaced which is a mirical in itself thanks for a doner Italjet being parted out on ...."the bay." So …

I inherited an 1982 TLR200 which was in pretty rough condition and so I went to work on removing the surface corrosion and I purchased VHT ( very high temperature) brand aerosol paint one for the barrel , another for casings and one for the engine pipe. Each paint is specific for their purpose. Now I could never claim to be a perfectionist - but I did my preparation thoroughly bare metal, clean and dry. I dried the paint in our oven (don't tell my wife) about 30 minutes at 120 degrees C. The barrel paint has been fine. The first time I tried to start the engine the carbie flooded spilling fuel onto the casings and the paint just dissolved leaving a hell of a mess. …

Are you allowed to use tubeless rear rim/tyre in twinshock events? ive looked on the ACU handbook but cant see anything in there. Is it worth the money/effort to respoke the rear to run a tubeless rim/tyre?

Probably a question that's been done to death at some point in the past but has anyone experiences good or bad of using a rear tubeless IRC or Michelin tyre with a tube on a twinshock (mine's an SWM). I've read that grinding some rubber off the bead helps the tyre to seat properly in the rim.

The skid plate for my 74 TY250A is missing. B&J Racing has aftermarket plates, but the owner got hurt and is unable to ship. Are there other options for a skid plate, possibly from a different bike that will fit, or aftermarket that will fit with a little modification? Thank You Glenn

Hi guys, Has anyone fitted fork springs from another bike, say ossa or bultaco? as the fork springs on my ty250 are ******, just pushing the bike forward makes them sack right out! i want to keep it standard'ish and not mess about trying to make other front ends fit etc! any ideas?

Hello Again, Im after more advice on the OSSA TR350 1977 im restoring, Can anyone let me know how many wheel bearings there are suposed to be in the rear wheel and in what configuration, also Spacer thickness. I think my wheel has been modified to take 4 x 6201 bearings, 2 on each side. Also I have not been able to find a replacement Clutch Push Rod, does any ony have the specifications for one so i can have one made up. Lastly im looking for a replacement Skid Plate. I am in the final stages of my 348 (51m) rebuild and trying to make a new wiring loom. I live in a pretty out of the way spot - great for riding but lousy for accessing gear. With the upcoming Queens Birthday long weekend one of my sons was coming down from Brisbane and looking forward to some fun on my TLR. Driving down tomorrow (Friday) morning and Murphy's law kicks in and Thursday morning I discovered that the front tyre on my Cota is flat - it's a very old tyre could even be 1976 original! Hi I am going to try threebond in place of the paper gasket on my TLR200 clutch case - I have good reason. But the instructions are apply and assemble in 1 minute and that is about it. I have used loctite products before and with them you assemble but don't tighten until 24 hours - but the threebond tells me nothing - I have googled and got no further so: do I assemble and fully torque the bolts how long before I can fill her with oil and start Thanks in advance
