Found this while looking around on a MX forum Can anyone remember anything about George Silk's trials bike, anyone ever seen one and any idea who is riding it in the video. Cheers Martin

I'm going to fit a Mikuni flatslide carb VM28-418 to my Montesa 348. Any ideas on a firm that supplies 42 - 33 mm sleeve rubbers? The front spigot outer diameter of Mikuni is 33 mm. The outer diameter of Montesa inlet tube is 42 mm. I've checked Allens and Hug's Bultaco. According to their websites they don't have this size.

Hi guy's, looking to buy new shocks and wondered if any one uses the Sammy Miler pro shocks? If you do your feedback would be appreciated, also what spring weight do you have if like me you are 14-15 stone(95kg in new money)? Thanks in advance. John.

Hi, I'd be grateful for a lead to a bike orientated welder to put modern type footrests on a Sherpa in Scotland. Central belt or North east Scotland would be most convenient.

Hi All I have a 75 Cota 247 which on the whole runs very well.but smokes excessively ( even for a 70's twostroke). I am thinking that it could be a crankshaft oil seal? The reason I think so is because when i remove the spark plug and smell it I can smell gearbox oil. So...assuming it is a crankshft oil seal has anyone had first hand experience of replacing one? I assume the oil seal is on the clutch side? Do you require any specialised tools and is it something that could be done with a bit of mechanical knowledge.. Any comments would be most welcome Regards

Sitting in the pub the other day talking bikes as you do the subject of spark plugs came up. Now the manufacturers have all "recommended" a grade of spark plug but that usually takes into account lots of peramiters which may or may not be applicable to how we use our bikes today. Very few now use them flat out on the road between sections for example. Now the old James seems best on an NGK BP5HS nothing like the manufacturers would have recommended. So what do you find is the best plug to use? This may be helpfull information to newbies to the wonderful world of twinshocks and Pre65 so dont keep it to yourself. Hello I am trying to find a source for bushings for my three Dalesmans. One 71 Mx Lynx and two Enduros.I have tried numerous places and have run out of ideas.Can provide piccs and dimensions. I am sure these were probably common to other bikes as well. Any ideas?

This is my first post so hello and apologies if this is a much repeated question. I've done some searching on the forum but thought I'd ask directly: I would like opinions please as to what would be the best 70's twinshock bike to run from a spares availability point of view. I'm guessing it'd be TY 175 / 250 but I'd consider Italian or Spanish too if I can get bits. For peace of mind I would like to know that I can get most engine parts and if not able to get O/E, at least find a cross reference for bearings and other cycle parts. I owned a few twinshocks in the 80's and having just come back to trials I can't resist the look / nostalgia of the twinshock era bikes. …

HI, I've cleaned the carb and freed the slide which was sticking. Spark looks strong but appears to be flooding as its wet when i pull it out. It wasnt running well before i cleaned the carb, it seemed to kick back a bit and would start but only for a moment. I was thinking the woodruff key may have sheared. Any advice welcome.

Any recommendations for my 199B Sherpa? Just how important are the shocks in trials? Im an old slow fat guy..

anybody know where to get a speedo kit from, the ones that were fitted to the twinshocks, i need one that works off the front wheel , (not a digital one) sammy miller no longer sells them,

in the middle of rebuilding a monty 348,does it matter what side you split and leave all the internals in?cheers

Most shock absorber makers offer a choice of 40 or 50 ib spring rating, I realise that the angle the shocks are mounted at, distance forward of the rear wheel spindle & weight of rider all make a difference but is there a guide as to which spring is most suitable.

Hi, Will ask if any of you know if LB30-35 springs for Betor shocks are available, progressive like LB40-50. Have sent a question John Cane..who offered shocks bargin last year (~1500g lighter than Girling pair) seems to work ok as new. Let say Betor work/refilled ok for 2-3 seasons then it might be motivated to order Falcon ally and cut an other 1000g.. Special order from spring suppliers is always an option....:-) Cheers,

Can you get progresive springs to fit older Falcon shocks? I have tried ringing Falcon but never any answer? will Betors new progresive spring fit ok?

Back on its wheels at last. Only taken 25+ years!

Just about complete now, although you can always find more to do. Time to get on with my Ossa TR77 now.

Hi there I'm rebuilding a sprite with sachs engine. On the underside there are two drain plugs, one with a normal bolt head, and one a different shape. Removing the 'normal' bolt to drop the gearbox oil, and there was around 150 ml of what looks like ATF that came out (looked very clean !) Quantity seems a bit small, and unsure of the other bolt on the underside of the engine. Any advice or help !?? Cheers John
