I am trying to rebuild a pair of betor dampers which I think came from a late Bultaco 340. Does anyone know the amount of oil and viscosity, and if there is any chance of getting new seals?

Hi all It was raining tonight so i took my bike down the woods - as i knew there wouldnt be many kids/dogs about. I started it up- put it in gear and let out the clutch. The bike went backwards. I put it back into neutral and tried again and it went backwards again. i thought great a TY175 WITH REVERSE! 2 more shots and the bike went forward. I was out for over an hour and the gearbox and everything else seems fine now. Has this happened to anyone else before. Is my gearbox about to crash Thanks William

Had an interesting experience that I would not recommend. When taking off for a ride I had to ride through a small 5 acre paddock that my wife has taped off with electric fence tape to keep her horse in. Normally it isn't turned on - but you guessed it... I rode up as usual running the front wheel under the tape intending to lift it over my head and proceed. But as soon as my Cota's aluminium front guard touched the tape I started to receive a whack from the electric fence unit. These things crank out short high powered zaps - we are talking thousands of volts. In my panic I grabbed the tape and tried to flick it over my head so I could get away but the tape snagged…

Hi, I was just wondering how a 200cota compares to the likes of a fantic 200 or a ty175 for power, rideability, reliability etc, any issues with them or are they a decent bike? Cheers.

Hi PASTED IN FROM CLASSIC SECTION Well I have got the new Mikuni VM26 set up with a 150 main and 30 pilot. Starts pretty good, and runs cleanly but it is now missing when it gets hot. I am running it on 33-1 and with the air screw by 1.5 turns out. Rubber inlet hose in good condition with no leaks. Looking at the plug I have noted that the NGK BP-7ES look pretty hot (ie no hint of soot, and a copper hue). Could this be the problem. Any thoughts of the next step to get the bike running cleanly. Is it worth changing the plug (to what type?), revert back to 25-1, or backing out the airscrew. Or all of the above! Thanks in advance Chris Posted 13 September 2011 - …

My swingarm looks bent in where the axle goes through, and the axle was showing quite a few threads outside of the nut after it's tightened down. The right side plate where the axle goes through is definitle at an angle to the tubular part. I'm wondering if I have the correct spacers. Could anybody out there give me some measurements? Axle length? Swingarm width (at axle)? Spacer width?

I was curious how rare SWM, Majesy's and some other vintage bikes are in the US? I've only seen a few of these around.

I have a pair of Rear Shocks for my SWM that I'm not able to identify (see pic.) Each have a hose fitted on it of about 150mm in length. The end of the hose is plugged. There seems to be no pressure in the hose. Does anyone know these schoks and what these hoses are good for? (if of no use I would like to remove them)

I have a ty250d project bike i'm working on, frame has had headstock steepened & peg mounts moved with modern pegs by previous rider. I've just gotten the parts to rebuild the foxshox(trials type) that were already fitted, had to reposition mounts to bring bike back to level. Now for the big question, are there any worthwhile mods that can be done to the forks while they're apart for seals, ie possibly remake damper rods in alloy with any suggested alterations to hole size & position. I know they'll never feel anything like a set of modern forks but if they can be improved why shouldn't i do it?
