Pre-65 Bikes

Hi chaps, when I bought the Cub (200cc, R cam, largely standard) I was advised that the Cotton PW22 carb went straight on and was positively the bees knees. So I bought one. It doesn't go straight on, I can find nothing on the internet about it and have had no response from the seller. Does anybody know anything about it? Does anybody know where to get a manifold to fit? Thanks chaps.

Hello, I recently acquired a 1960 Greeves Scottish. I live in Washington State north of Seattle. It is in pretty rough shape but its not locked up and most all of the parts are there. My mission is to clean it up, get it running and ride it. Perhaps get into a few pre 65 trials. As I bought her (minus the Villiers carb and air filter) Tore it down to the frame. Cylinder is on the standard piston. Bore looks ok. Will probably go first oversize. gearbox is another story....lots of cleaning needed. Gonna ditch the points and get an electronic ignition. Probably the Greeves unit. 500 bucks! Any suggestions out there? This should be a fun project. Mike

Hello, Although I have a 1964 T20 Cub, the problem I have concerns a 1963 T20 engine that I am trying to rebuild. I am missing a couple of crank case covers and despite my best efforts I have not been able to locate them. I am hoping that someone out there in the Internet world will be able to help me. I am trying to find the following items :- Part Number E 4449 or E 4787 Right side Inner Cover and Part Number E 4089 Left Outer Cover. If anyone out there has any of these items and they are prepared to sell them, or if you know someone that has engine parts for a Triumph Cub and may just have these items sitting in a box somewhere and you are prepared to give me…

I need to find out the thread and length of the studs that thread into the crankcase on the Villiers 9e, 32a, 37a etc Want to get some new ones but i'm not sure of the thread in the crankcase, i think it's 5/16 Whit but i seem to remember the alloy barrel studs for a Greeves square barrel were also 5/16 Whit. However i have a pair of crankcases to be rebuilt into a spare engine that i feel sure are 5/16 W x 5/16 BSF which seems weird. Can anybody help with the correct thread and length?

I currently have my 350 Ajay motor in bits for a full rebuild,tis in a bit of a state after doing a lot of hard work.I also plan to rebuild my HT motor as a short stroke 500 as soon as the Ajay is back running. I want both motors to run as well as possible,be reliable and long lasting.So as much care as possible will be taken in building them... So my question is,what balance factor is best to use,Don Moreley suggests using a factor of 60%, is this still the sensible number ? Both bikes will be used for road based trials,but I'm not worried about vibration at higher engine speeds on the road,I'm happy just to pootle along between groups of sections and enjoy a smooth a…

Hi Im new to this site- I am building a Crusader trials bike with 500 Bullet engine. I would like some advice on forks, please. 1- 1 - Indian bullet forks with ali top yoke- will go straight on and i have a set 2- 2 - 35mm MZ forks- I have a set but no yokes 3- 3 - Crusader forks - any good? option 1 would be the easiest route but I don’t know what it would handle like. Im no expert but I do want it to steer properly. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. the forks dont need to be authentic as its an Indian Bullet engine. Ta

Hi guys Im going to get crausder frame from my friend wanted to put bullet engine to build trials it quite common practice in trials world Questions .. > Does it need lot of frame mod .. > How about swing arm does it need modification to fit 4.0 x 18 tyre ? hi to all. i'm new to this site, so hope i've got this in the right place! i have a 248 royal enfield, crusader trials bike, and would like some info please. it has been verified, as a genuine trials bike, by the enfield club, & is from 1962. i have paperwork on it, from the club, where it was first delivered to, from the factory etc, plus, it has a factory replacement trials engine in it, which is a good runner, the undamped forks, new non enfield shocks, the rear wheel, is not enfield, but i can't remember what it is, it may come to me! i do have the original enfield wheel, and shocks. just wondering what value you would put on it, as i want to sell it, i'm ha…

Just got a relly interesting bike I managed to find a nice t100 twin a few weeks back and have tarted it up ready for a bash but the chassis was still about 55" long.(pretty standard 3ta)so i was looking for a chassis for it, Just bought a 58 crusader (enfeild) with a 3ta motor ,it seems really trick,the guy i got it from didnt know what it was ,it is 51" long no bottom rails with a big alloy bash plate lots of alloy parts,rickman rear wheel and marzochii shox ,so it was probablly used well into the eightys. It is reg BAS 501 does anyone know the bike????? It looks to have had a hard life but definitly sorted , it has been in cornwall for at least 20 years

Has anyone got any pictures of a widened swing arm that I can use to plan my alteration. I already have the original (wider) arm, but still have minimal clearance and hence want to make the alteration. Any advice gladly received.

Hi there Back again with more questions Got the chance of a bored out Cub barrel but don't know which piston to use? The Barrel is 68mm from 63mm & I would like to avoid any issues with a change of stroke. Is there a straight replacement at 68mm? Thank's Frank

Hi all, I was looking at the pictures of the swan neck cub frames fitted with strengthening top tubes that double up as the oil tank. Can the same ones be fitted to a b40/c15 ? If so where can i get one and what is the best way of fitting them or guess who fits them ? Also if you can fit a cub sub-frame to a BSA frame can you also fit an ARMAC one and maybe the swinging arm ?? Cheers Steve.

Hi all. I have a very non-trick Cub and no immediate desire to make it super competitive, because my riding isn't anyway. It would be fun, however, for the brakes to make a noticeable difference to the speed of the bike. What can be done, retaining the standard hubs, to improve matters. I'm really not planning to replace or rebuild the wheels in the near future. Cheers
