Hi peeps, I'm optimistic that the pre 65, pre-unit AMC chaps on this site, can offer me the benefit of their experience? I want to renew the oil seals in the "teledraulic" front forks on my 350 AJS trials bike. I've owned the bike for twenty years and never had to strip the forks. I've withdrawn the legs and removed the setscrew from the base, which I believe secures the inner damper tube. There isn't a circlip above or retaining the oil seal, as with Honda and Yamaha. How do I withdraw the stanchion from the lower leg? I'm not inclined to apply any force at this stage. Hi, I've just acquired a B40 that isn't a trials bike but has been modified a bit for green laning. I'm intending to have a go at a few trials even though I know the geometry, frame, footrests etc. won't be ideal but it's just for fun right. Anyway it really needs a rebore but is already on plus .060. The head is also not very good so I am looking for a complete top end if anyone knows of one that may be for sale. Ideally one that I could just put on and go but beggers can't be choosers so anything considered if it wasn't going to cost the earth to put right. It is a late B40G engine. Thanks, Keith.

Hi All, I'm building a B40 trials bike and wonder if you could help with primary and secondary sprocket selections? i don't have a crank primary sprocket or gearbox output sprocket yet or a rear wheel sprocket. any help would be much appreciated and save me some money and a lot of time getting it right! cheers Michael

IVE JUST REBUILT A 1964 TIGER CUB AND ITS HAD THE ALTERATION TO THE FRAME WHERE A MILLER CYLINDRICAL OIL TANK IS FITTED. I KNOW THE TIGER IS A WET SUMP ENGINE BUT CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MUCH OIL GOES IN THE TANK. A SET AMOUNT OR FULL. THANKS

Here we go again! Im trying to fit a PES outrigger bearing plate to my b40 but the chain sprocket seems too wide to get a full nut and also no clearance between the outrigger bearing and sprocket nut. Has anyone fitted one of these and had the same trouble? Seems like you have to make the sprocket a little narrower? Please help one step forward and one step back at the moment!!!

Hello A frind gave me this bike. Frame is a C15S and there is a scramle engine fitted right now. A spare engine C15t came with the bike. Does enybody now about these bikes? Is it a scrambler or a trial bike? Wath is the difference between them? Is there a recommended process to make a C15 not a big oil leaker? When running, my C15 leaks oil on to the bash plate and then to the ground so it is unclear where it is leaking from. I don't see any obvious leaks from gasket areas. After parked for a couple of days, it starts to leak which I believe is wet sumping. All check balls and springs were replaced but during the rebuild most everthing was corroded so the condition of the ball seats is unknown. There is a tube fitting on the head which I connected to the oil tank so there is no real breather...is this correct? The frame has a right side kick stand that would seem to make the leaks worse with all of the ven…

Is there a preferred direction for insertion/removal and should there be any restriction on movement?

Just looking for some advice please. Had a quick look on the Internet regarding the fitting of bronze little end bushes and what I thought would be an easy job of drawing in a new bush an sizing it using an adjustable reamer is in-fact not so simple. Concerns are keeping things true, not taking out too much with a reamer and so on. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just a few questions:-) I need to buy a tap and die to clean up the cylinder head studs and nuts. What size thread is it ?(Square barrel and head if it makes a difference). It looks 5/16" but not BSF Do the oil feed holes in the Rocker Spindles have to face any particular direction? The rocker spindles seem to go into the head further than my old oval head. Is this normal? The lube holes are visible on the feed end of the spindles. How many thrust washers are there on each rocker spindle? I have 1 either end of the shaft but not between the spring washer and the head but the Haynes Manual says 3. What are the inlet and exhaust valve clearances for an R cam? I…

I continue to have problems with the Cub I built from all my spare parts for my Son to ride. It has a habit of leaking the contents of the Sammy Miller type top tube oil tank onto his shed floor!. The first time this happened I replaced the steel balls in the later type oil pump for a plastic ball and spring upgrade kit from UPB. But after sitting in his shed for a few months, it just did it again. I drained the remaining oil from the engine sump and got about 250 to 300 ml out. Hi all, Having managed to oil up NGK B6HS at a rate of roughly 1 per trial, would it do any harm trying a slightly hotter NGK B5HS? I won't be riding the bike on the road! Does anyone else use these in their Cub? Bruce.

Hi Gurus I have BSA C15 pitted forks. My friend told me to check with Industrial Hydraulic Repair company to re-chrome them . I contacted them and they said they can make new fork tube. which might be much cheaper then re-chrome. and last longer. Is it good idea to try new fork tube ? Is it possible to increase length of fork tube , Do i need to change spring or fork internal etc. I was think may be i can put some spacer on top nut and keep forks internal same ? Regards JH

I have a Matchless G3C with 1 1/8" front forks. I have recently fitted new rear shocks, which has improved the rear end, but I would like to do something with the front end. The front forks seem very soft and have a couple of inches of "sag" in them when the bikes sits without rider. Are springs available that will give me more preload so that the bike sits up more? Are there any other tweaks I can do to improve the standard front fork performance? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Hi, anyone know if a late 50,s 500 bullet alternator inner chaincase will fit an earlier (1953) dynano 350 bullet engine using the dynamo outer chaincase from my 350 bullet please as i am having probs getting the right one cheers Dave
