Pre-65 Bikes

As an ongoing trials project I have been riding and working on a and '54 G3LS. I've recently converted to an all alloy engine, and as the next step I'm looking to make a few changes to the road based frame. As I am sure you will understand, I'm looking to steepen the angle of the steering head, and to swap the standard heavyweight swinging arm for the later lightweight version. I believe there used to be instructions for the swinging arm confersion posted on the AMOC site , but havn't been able to find them. Greetings All I have just fitted a Mk1 concentric on my 53 Matchless in place of the old worn Mono block just wondering what jetting / slide other people were using as I cant get it to run spot on , I have to flood it to start even when hot and a flat spot on acceleration. I see Cubs with both the usual longish front pipe and silencer between frame tube and shock, or a short pipe with the silencer more over the gearbox area finishing near the rear tyre. Has anyone tried both options does it make any performance difference which is used?

I have been nagged for so long by several people that I should give up on my old Honda and Gollner Honda and buy a lightweight 2 stroke. Well here is my latest 2 stroke! Well no-one categorically stated I should buy a '2 stroke trials bike' Thats it MOT tested now and proof of age in the post, it will be a trial riding this in modern traffic what with no clutch and little or no brakes as the 2 stroke oil fumes get on to the back wheel rim.

I recently purchase BSA 441 Victor as a basket case at a garage sale. The bike appears to be about 90% complete but at some time has had some modifications to use as a scrambler. I would like to build it back as a trials bike to use in pre-65 competitions. The frame is appears to be stock and it has a 19' front wheel. Any suggestions on frame or other mods and sources for BSA parts would be appreciated.

I removed the small end bush from my C15 and the surface finish inside the rod is really rough. It looks like a very bad drilling job. As far as I can tell, it is pretty much round with an ID of .751/ .752. Is this rough surface normal or common? I'm thinking it needs to bored for an oversize bush but don't want to bother if this is actually normal.

Oil Tank under the petrol tank, or, in the conventional place on the right hand side of bike, one better or one worse anybody have any feelings, for or against. Vinnie

Hello Just bough another C15 and the new side panel that covers the battery is missing. As far as we can tell from the reg the bike is pre 62 and the engine has the points on top not side, so this looks to be correct year wise. Are the side panels the same for all years?

Well not actually Betor fork oil but oil in Betor forks Swapped the bits around in the shed the other day between the Sherpa 340 and the BSA B40 trials special. I'd bought some forks off flea bay NOS and have put the stantions in the Sherpa and the Sherpa ones in the BSA B40 which has OSSA sliders as the ones originally in the B40 were marked. All bits swapped over no problem as they are both Betor and now i can put the old parts back on flea bay to recoup some of me money So just thought i would ask: What fork oil do you guys use? Haynes recommends SAE10w but gives 150cc and 180cc in two different parts of the manual, typical Haynes I'm 14 stone of rippling flab …

Hi i have a bit of a problem with my enfield crusader framed triumph with billet yokes.The front end tends to tuck in on tight turns worse when riding over small rocks as in river beds.Any advice thought about fitting leading axle forks.

hi i am busy converting a road c15 to trials was wondering if i should fit standered length rear shocks or should they be longer, my concern would be lifting the rear end to high and making it look really stupid cheers

So I purchased a set of mz forks for my bsa c15 trials bike I'm building problem is my 35mm yokes are just that 35mm an the mz forks are 34.7 the options at the minute are shim out the gap using 6 tho shim wrapped round the stancions or bore out the yokes and turn a split bush. Re chroming is not an option as I don't even know if the forks are any good so don't want to waste 150 quid re hard chroming them.. any input welcome

What is the best carb choice for a tiger cub 200 for Pre-65 events. is there a restriction on tyre choice, ie X1 michelins allowed ?
