General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

Hello all. looking for and input from someone familiar with the differences. Here is my dilemma : I currently own a 2017 Gas gas contact 250 that I bought brand new and am looking to upgrade to a (undisclosed manufacture) factory 300. lets not get into the brand argument or personal preferences and just assume all brands are suitable for my riding style. I was told by one specific dealer that I should not by a 300cc. that it would be too much power for me , let alone a factory edition. here is where I stand: I m a 38 y.o. guy in very good athletic shape 6'2" 235lbs (115Kg) . I have been riding trials for 4 months only but there is a catch. I use …

  2. Hi all- Rick from San Francisco here. Heading off to Europe on vacation soon. Unfortunately can't make it to TrialGP Andorra or Lourdes. I am dying to see some professional trials practice/ riding. I'm going to be in and around Barcelona June 30-July 7, then driving from Barcelona up through Andorra and west over the Pyrenees from July 11 to 13. Does anyone have any suggestions on places I should check out? Obviously anything specific would be great, but I will happily drive somewhere even if there is only a chance I might catch someone. Towns, parks, streets, gps coordinates- anything would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm looking to purchase a new trials bike (haven't decided which model yet) but wondered when 2018 models tend to be released? From memory it seems to be quarter 3 of the year before. If there a 'best' time of year to buy a bike? I know updates don't tend to be too drastic nowadays, but don't want to invest in a new model, only for a newer one to be released the following week. Thanks

How do you decide which course you should enter? I entered the Novice (red in Kent) route for my first trial scoring in the low 100's for the 44 sections The coarse was safe, do-able and to me challenging, but fun, so is being last a reason to drop down a class?

I'm in the process of starting a new club, Ashwicke Classic Trials Club. I'd like to set up a basic website to run club news and results etc,as not everyone is happy with Facebook or Twitter etc. So my question is, has anyone on here done a similar thing ? I'm not brilliant at computer stuff so don't want anything fancy, also the club will have no money, after each event all the proceeds will go to a charity chosen by the landowner. So cheap is good. The first event will be on the 28th of August at Ayford farm near Marshfield, aimed mainly at Pre65's and Twinshocks. No classes for mono's or aircooled mono's.

hi guys really need some help. his has probably been discussed before but cant find the thread. I have a 98 TX270 and need to set the front n rear suspension properly. I'm only a novice rider but would like to get the mist out if my bike and know if the suspension is nit set right then the bike wont ride so well. I've got the red and the black high speed adjusters on the fork all the way out and on the rear I've got the clicker in the middle. I also think there is to much sag. I have attached a image of the sag measuring from the center of the spindle to the mudgaurd. Thanks in advance

.... be aware the DVLA are sending out letters stating that their records show a vehicle registered to you hasn't had SORN declared on it.I've had two of these letters relating to bikes not used on the road and purchased by me in 2013 and 2014.My wife keeps all the letters, receipts and emails on file relating to my bikes and other vehicles including DVLA correspondence and I can prove my vehicles are 'SORN'd'.Be very wary of disposing of any letters or emails from DVLA as it looks like they're trying to hit you for the back tax or fining you for not signing log books over.Hmmmmm, three and four years ago these two bikes were bought and SORN was immediately declared, funn…

. . . I accidentally deleted the thread when trying to juggle all the replies. Does anyone know how to get it back? Ha, not my weekend, is it? Anyway, thanks for all the replies fellahs. I will try Peak Classic again. I was at Dudwood a month or two ago and tried every section more than once, but it was really way too much and I 5ed everything, badly. In future I'll maybe only attempt those that look like a reasonable challenge or treat them as 'gentleman's routes' if possible, tho my nature is to want to complete things properly so I have to fight my tendency to get a bit frustrated at my own perceived "failure". I also think I need to learn to do a …

Back in the day, when men were men and badly suspended twin shock bikes bounced into your nuts so often it made you sound like anything but, we all kind of knew the pecking order as to what was the best piece of kit at any given time. We had the most popular evolution of roughly Mont, Bultaco, Ossa, Yamaha, Fantic and SWM. Each taking the previous ones crown and moving the game on significantly over the last ‘best thing.’ There were many others, like the Beamish Suzuki, but they never quite gained the kind of popularity needed to give real credence to being ‘the best’ at the time. We may not have personally ridden them, or even liked them, but purely as a machi…

In many two wheeled sports there are charts advising what fork and shock settings to use based on rider weight. Are there any rules of thumb or charts for trials? (GG250 2017 specifically) What do other people do? Is it best just to ride as built?

  16. Hello, I'm about to buy a brand new trials motorcycle and I need some advice. First, here's my experience... 2 years ago I've bought a brand new AJP Enduro Pro 240cc (4T), my first motorcycle. I was intending to do some hard-enduro training, but to be honest I ended up riding it mostly on trails with some hills climbing here and there. Even before buying it I was looking at all the things the pros are doing, like jumping over ditches, riding over logs... I never got to try all those. To be honest I lacked confidence. I've tried to learn to do wheelies but no luck there. The bike felt big to me and it also had 2 things that I do not like, so I gave up. …

Looking to get a new bike (a 250) and would appreciate any help / advice as to whether I should get the Gas Gas E4 or the TRS RR. I've always liked the ride of the GG, is the TRS much different (better or worse) Any advice or pros and cons for either bike are much appreciated.

  18. I ride trials at both North Lincs Classic club and Peak Classic club, neither of which are ACU clubs. I would like to ride occasional "open" trials at various other clubs who are ACU but probably only a few each year. Is my only option to join another club which is ACU to get the club code in order to get a licence?

Hi I'm 12 years old and want to get into trials. I've been riding motocross bikes since I was 6, but am not sure what type of trials bike to get. I'm looking for a bike with good build quality and a bike which I would have a lot of control on, Ideally for no more than £3000.00, does anyone know anything good.
