General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

  1. Started by 2stroke4stroke,

I see there is to be £425 million put in to a development at Circuit of Wales. There will be a motocross track amongst lots of other stuff. Do any locals know if this presents an opportunity for a trials venue?

Interesting survey highlighted on BBC news web site regarding health benefits of just exercising on weekends The Survey showed that in comparison to those who didn't exercise at all the, people that did some kind of physical activity showed a lower risk of dying from cancer and from cardiovascular disease. "Weekenders", who do all their exercise on one or two days of the week, were found to lower their risk of dying from CVD by 41% and cancer by 18%, compared with the inactive. Those who exercised regularly on three or more days per week reduced their risks by 41% and 21%. Even the "insufficiently active" lowered their risk by a significant amount - 3…

Somerton Classic trials club ran their annual 'end of year' trial at Hext Hill, Low Ham, yesterday (28-12-2016). firstly I will make it clear I am not complaining about a venue, I am just trying to provide context. As the name suggests the venue is relatively high and is very open, so when it's warm it still feels cold and when it is cold it is B****y freezing. However the venue is good and some excellent trials are put on by the club, yesterday was no exception. Personally I had a great day, plenty of festive chat and banter and a good trial. However as I was merrily riding round enjoying myself with a couple of other riders, we had the usual conversation about how …

Apart from the likes of Bou, which past riders have made the difference, riders that have taken riding to new levels of innovation and technique etc.

Will he blitz it just as much as the trials scene? Big chance of injury potentially opening up the trials WTC?

Evening All As the subject suggests. I have recently moved from a 05 4rt to my not so long ago aquired Sherco 250 having fancied a 2 stroke again. I made that fatal mistake of going along to the BVM test day with a good friend of mine having no intention of trying any of the bikes. I ended up having a go on a TRS 280 and really liked it. I then Had a go on the 250 and loved it. I now am in a situation not knowing what to do. Any new TRS 250 owners out there got any reviews to help kick me over the edge!! Thanks

Seems to be some chat around saying Dave Taylor did a full lap of the TT course in the seventies (it's clear he didnt), but did a quick search on Youtube for Dave Taylor TT and found this gem........ John Noakes, Trials, Shep, what's not to like? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8cTRSV6dLI

I am not completely confident that this is the right place for this topic...but I can't find a better place to ask this question. I have never lived in a place where heat was required in my shop. I recently moved to Washington State in the United States from tropical Mexico...before that I lived in San Diego in Southern California. Now I am sitting in the fog, snow and incessant rain waiting for my shop to be finished. I have a general idea about how to heat a building, but most of the economical solutions involve an open flame...pot bellied stove burning wood or some freestanding heating unit that burns propane...that seems like a bad idea in a structure where I will be …

I've got 4 decent rear tyres in the shed that are in good order tread wise but seem to have gone hard and non-pliable over the course of time. Is there anything I can do to bring there 'soft compound' feel back?

We will have a hard enduro at nigt here next month. Can I put a 35W or 55W halogen light in my Sherco ST300 2015? Or there something else beside bike battery powered lights? (will use in my helmet)

Getting back into it after a few decades. I know there's lots of chat about which way to go, twin shock or modern, and I'm having the same dilemma but for different reasons other than the bikes themselves. I'd prefer twin shock just for the nostalgia, but here's the thing, are there any tough twin shock trials? A decent twin shock can be more expensive than a decent modern, but what's the point if there's not much to go at once bought? Maybe I've seen the wrong pictures/videos perhaps? A lot on YouTube made me look twice to see if they were actually sections, rather than the kind of terrain you mess about on when warming the bike up. When I think back to how trials us…

The perfect system for a trials motorcycle (no battery needed) Yet most brands stick to the archaic carburettor. The reduced emissions alone, should be reason enough to use this kind of system.
