An 85/86 RTL250S that i've seen has an Oil-cooler fitted to the top-left of the left-hand down tube, and also i remember that the works bikes (270cc) also had these. Do they help ? Are they still available ?? or is there any substitutes that would do the same job ??? Just curious. Gaff.

So I'm really enjoying using my TLR as a trailie-trialer, however, the front brake is still shocking [compared to a modern bike], even with new pads and an adjusted cable... I was going to try a brand new front cable just to see if it made much difference, but then I saw a 'kit' on ebay the other week caught my eye (I didn't win it as the bidding went high in the last few moments)... Basically someone had grafted on a hydraulic caliper mount to a stock TLR left had fork leg, used a Grimeca Caliper (and presumably master cylinder), plus a Fantic front wheel with a small disc... the sell said it fitted straight on with the TLR axle. Are seals available for a TLR250 Showa rear shock (KR9CR3)? i've pulled a set apart and if possible want to make them oil tight again. How much oil do they take? Whats the recommendations on competetive new rear shockies. One last question my TLR has some clutch shudder, I have an old Honda maintainance sheet that recommends changing them for CB350 plates is this a common fix or has times moved on? Nether had these problems restoring my TY175

Hi, I just bought a RTL250S from 87 and I'm restoring it at the moment. I havent got a clue how much fork oil is needed and what kind of oil .. Does anybody get these informations ? Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks. Victor

Hi, I finally decided to open it , I did it with care and it wasn't as hard as I thought and it allowed me to notice that there were no more air in it. Is that normal ?... Now I just have to find parts like oil seal and so on but, above all, although I dit it carefully, I lost some oil during the operation. Does anybody know the exact capacity of the rear shock absorber ? Thanks to everybody for any help Victor

Hi Have a problem with the clutch slipping on my tlr 200, need to take off the clutch cover off and would like to know how to take it off without affecting the decompressor etc. seems like a lot of bits have to come off to get it off. Any help here would be great. Thanks in advance

Anyone have this problem? 6 out of 10 prods on the kick start & it slips round on the shaft. Can the problem be rectified with access via clutch case removal or do you have to go any deeper! If i am real careful each time i kick her up and 'feel' where the shaft is trying to engage then it is ok but when it slips it feels like it is going to snap off! (The bike does not have the de-compressor fitted)

Hi Rs Think ive had to repost this as the first has not come through, anyway thanks for the help with the clutch side casing,all i need to know is the position of the cam(FOR DECOMPRESSOR) on the kick start mechanism as when i removed the XL casing the cam came with the casing. Cheers Davyb

Hello everyone, looking for help with my 150cc upgrade kit. its all assembled with the new piston and barrel but the original cam chain is now too short. I measured the height of the new barrel and it’s slightly taller than the original 125 one hence the old cam chain just fits but is way too tight even in its most loose setting on the tensioner. The kit is Berlit. so I guess I need an extra link or two longer can chain? where to find one? has anyone else experienced this problem? any help or advice gratefully received, kind regards, Andy

Could anyone help me please ? Have recently bought a TLR 200, probably 1984, just in from Japan, roadgoing gear all in place. I want to gear it down for club trial type use and am wondering if anyone could advise the front/rear sprocket sizes which would be suitable for that use. Ok guys and gals, I need opinoins and info. I have a chance at getting two RTL 250S for 2000$ one's a 85 and the other is an 86. They both run but need retoring. The only Trials bike (if you can call it that) I've ridden was a Reflex. So what's ya think?

I'm planning to fit a Honda xl185 into my tl125 frame. Can the xl185 cdi ignition be wired without a battery? Which wires go where. The 185 engine came with a very tattly frame & running gear so I do have the old wiring loom to cannibalise. Thanks Mike Hammond

Hi, I'm new to the Forum & am hopefully buying a TL125S this weekend. It has a V5 but has never had an MOT. It doesn't have lights/brake light, speedo or a horn. Am I correct in thinking that the only one of these things I need for a daytime MOT is a horn? I read somewhere that it should have a continuous tone, I noticed Sammy Miller do a battery one which looks a good one to get. Plan is to use the bike for gentle green laneing, I've always liked these & with me being short I think it would be a good bike for that purpose. Thanks

In a pinch this weekend to touch up some spots on my lower frame so I can reset the motor later this week I paid a visit to my local auto parts store to see what I could come up with. I took along one of the rear tail light brackets to try and match. There were two spray cans that seemed to be rather close but with the florescent lighting inside the store you can be fooled by the color. I bought both for $10 and took them home. I must say I was very pleased with one of them. Dupli-Color's Chevrolet Orange-Red #DE1607 engine enamel was a very, very close match.
