I now have a TL250 up and running. It works much better than expected except on tight turns. Has anyone tried longer shocks to help turning? What length?

I can see from the manual the manufacturers recommend SAE10-40, but which type? Nowadays the manufacturers (I've always stuck to Smith & Allen) seem to have semi synthetic and fully synthetic, other makes say there have a Mineral oil. It is all getting a bit confusing - especially when the same oil reservoir serves the engine, clutch and gearbox, a little guidance is needed.....

I'm having difficulty sourcing a 23" front trials tyre for my 1978 XL250 S, everyone seems to stock numerous 21" - can anyone help with a UK supplier of this large tyre? Thanks

1975 TL250 clutch friction plates - 22201-286-010 and 222-286-000 part numbers. (One part number appears to have replaced the other). I'm replacing the friction plates. The part number I ordered, 22201-286-010 is not as wide as the plates in my clutch. The originals are 11.40mm while the replacement plates (22201-286-010} are 9.30mm Anyone changed out their original friction plates for new ones? And what part number did you use? I can put them in and give them a try, but I'm loosing friction surface. Which will probably translate into less clutch grip. I appreciate some ideas from those who've changed their clutch plates. Would anyone have a source or a design for a TL250 compression release? A valve lifter type release was sold in the 70s for XL350/ 250 that should also fit a TL250.

Hey there, I have inherited a Honda TL with the Sammy miller high boy frame from my late father who was an avid bike collector. Anyway the bike has a Honda XL185 engine fitted with cdi stamped on it also. Engine number L185 se The bit im really interested in the frame number!! On the yoke I have stamped 267. Now from what the Sammy miller museum and honda trials history site says I can make out that between 1974-1980 a total of 750 frames were made. 500 of these were actually in full bike form. Having asked both the Sammy Miller museum (who still make the frames under licence)and the Honda trials history about frame number they have said to post on a trails forum and …

Hi I wonder if anyone can help ID this machine. It arrived with me yesterday via a friend who suggested it is reputed to be an ex Baker machine. It certainly has the big (ugly) silencer, OKO carb, front disc which I suspect belongs with the forks. It has a correct TLR engine number MD09 etc. It was suggested it may have been white but I can see no evidence of this where the frame has rubbed. Although I guess a good strip and repaint would not show. Head stock angle changed and foot pegs moved. If anyone recognises it I'd be obliged. Many thanks, Andy.

Does anyone have experience with the Chinese Keihin copies of 22 and/ or 24 mm size for TLR200s or similar? Is there a brand to recommend? I'm looking for something to run on a TL250 with stock air box. Most other carbs are bigger.

Hi. I'm in the progress of getting an old TL125S back to the street and make it street legal. I got everything working so far, except the tachometer, because i'm missing the gear in the front wheel hub (part no 44804-355-003). This gear seems to be impossible to find, no one can get it. I tried to fit one of a XL125, but thats too large to fit. Now i'm curious if theres another alternative that's fitting, maybe from another honda. I don't want to use another tachometer or make any dirty hacks, but thats an option if anything else fails. Any good advice on alternatives? Thanks in advantage

I've just got a low mileage RS200T from Japan. It hadn't run in years. It's very original and has had little use. It's fitted with a 22mm Keihin carb which is marked PC UG7. - I've fitted a NGK D6ES plug, gapped at 26 thou - Set both valves at 2.5 thou (it was In 2 thou and Ex 5 thou). - Checked the ignition timing, was spot on. - Checked the centrifal advance which is free and working fine - Fitted a new carb float and set it at 21mm - I've stripped and cleaned the carb, soaking it in carb cleaner and blow it out several times, it's clean as a whistle The carb was fitted with a 38 pilot jet and 105 main. Has anyone replaced the rubber cush drives and replaced them with an alternative on the rear wheel?

The TL250 has an external grease fitting for a the clutch actuator on the left side cover. This does not look like a standard grease fitting and the standard tool does not fit. See picture. How do you fill it? I thought about threading in a standard fitting but it would stick out farther and would be easy to tear off.

I bought a good condition magneto cover a while ago & decided to replace the damaged 1 yesterday, when i looked @ the back of the new cover it has 3 screw holes where the original only has 2 fixing holes It looks like i've bought a TLR 200 magneto cover, i can buy a TLR 200 @ a decent price, so my question is, does anyone know if the 200 stator will fit inside the 250 flywheel ? My searching tells me the 200 & 250 flywheels have different part numbers, i'm hoping the inside measurement is the same & the outside measurement is different, because i presume, the 250 would be slightly heavier ?

I came across a clean CB100N motor and bought it. I was wondering if this motor can be enlarged; sharing the same stroke as a 125. Otherwise are there any useful mods I can do with this motor? It came without it's carb or induction spacer, traf.
