Not sure how many of you know Grant Adamson, he's a relative on my wife's side, I think he was first off in the SSDT last year (or was it year before - time flies). He's had a bit of an "off" while riding his mountain bike. Forks snapped, and he face planted. Broken jaw, broken nose, broken cheek bone, badly swollen, needs plating and a bit of rebuilding, but off the ventilator now. Was in a bit of a mess. He's in Carlisle hospital now, waiting for the swelling to go down before they can do much work on him. One of my all time fears is the forks snapping - I know John B is a regular on here and I used to knock around on the bikes with his brother as a lad, he did the s…

I kind of embarassed to ask this question, but I've made a fool of myself so many times on this forum that I suppose once more won't make much difference. I'm sure what I'm about to ask is covered in great detail in the ACU handbook but I don't recall receiving a copy with this year's membership renewal and I can't find a downloadable copy on the ACU web site (and a bit of Google-fu hasn't turned anything up), so here goes: ACU trials rules: Non-stop or not? Now just hang on a sec: You could quite legitmately say that someone's who's been taking part (note that I didn't say "competing"!) in trials for over a year since returning to the sport should really know the answer…

over the last few years this famous trial has seen less and less riders entering why ? is it down to it only having one route for experts and clubman ? do you think it would see a better entry if there was 2 routes as a lot of people ive spoken to wont ride it as its too hard for the average clubmen rider on the single route course. it would be very interesting for all to share there views on this

Just noticed a comment on Lochabers website about unauthorised riding, and of course we heard many similar ones on these boards after the SSDT and the Pre-65 SSDT. This is a subject that is almost certainly going to come up more and more following the "right-to roam" public access movement and all it entails. It does not seem to be generally known but many private landowners receive huge amounts of public money for various schemes involving land management, tree regeneration and, most importantly, unrestricted public access for all forms of recreation. This can involve such activities as canoeing down salmon rivers and trail biking over the hills during the deer stalkin…

I today witnessed a very unfortunate and unbeleivable incident at todays British Trials Championship trial at Brimham Rocks. George Morton had just ridden up the big rock step going into section 2 when his bike caught fire. He bailed off and after a couple of attemps to put the flames out with water the fire just took hold. Eventually someone got hold of a fire extinguisher and Steve Colley was the guy who used it to put the fire out. By this time (approx 5 mins) it was too late and the bike was wrecked. It was incredible how fast this fire took hold of the bike. I took a short video with my phone which was taken just after a minute which I have posted here http://w…
