I would like to ban spectators or at least clueless spectators who ramble about and roll life threatining rocks down towards riders/minders/other spectators. In the 100s of events I have been to by far the scariest and most dangerous moments have not been on the bike or grabbing a bike,it has been while standing and casually observing a section!! Many of you were probably at TTC World Round ,last section when the bowling ball rock rearranged a guys face. My son Phil was shoulder to shoulder with him and I was within a few yards downslope. I had heard it may have been Raga s minder but dont know who let the rock go. 1 other time in Poland I was waiting for some 125 cc acti…

Over the weekend our club (Ridgerunners Santa Cruz, CA) put on the British American Cup at Hollister Hills. My Dad started the event in 1971 and has had past winners such as Marland Whaley, Lane Leavitt, Scott Head, Kip Webb. One of the writers from City Bike came out and took photos and wrote a story and has it posted on the web www.southbayriders.com/forums/showthread.php?+=39474 There are some awesome photos and a small story. They are going to run a shorter story in the magazine. It is pretty impressive what an article can do to get some attention to the sport. The writer was at an Enduro and ran into Adrian Lewis from Lewisport. Adrian invited him to come up. He …

So let's see: Last time I stopped by: QUOTE (City Trials @ Apr 13 2009, 09:37 PM) Dang, on the spot question. The era's are so different. The sections and bikes are designed so different. But, I give you this food for thought. Rider? Or World Championship competitor? Patrick may be able to do a few things Tommi can't. But, Tommi can do things Pat can't. On a World Championship scale, until Pat can win a World Championship, Pat isn't a better competitor than Tommi. Tommi's a World Champion and you can't take that away from him. It's documented for history. To which I replied: What the hell? I'm gone for a few minutes and I come back to a 'Politicaly Correct' Craig…

Jive and I were talking and wondered why no one wanted to participate in the top stories of the year. We figured out that's not what people want to talk about. They want to talk gossip and trash. So with that, we'll do something TC readers love to do. Anonymously trash each other. Not being a anon, I'm not allowed to compete. So, I'll do mine as a exhibition. My "Commenter of the Year" was a choice of four. Mich Lin, Ice Prick, Ringo and Comech. * Mich started off strong, but quickly got banned for his crazy ideas and name-calling. Plus he really got the website owner mad. This eliminated him from the contest early on. * Ringo was spotty all year. Shows up for a few …

Seeing as you are clearly backing out of the $1000 bet with your impromptu excuses I propose a new bet. The event: Trialcross Novemeber 2008 The prize: one dollar and a six pack of Alaskan Amber delivered to my hotel room that night. The bet: I will lap you if we race in the same heat.

Hey Folks: Anyone have footage of kids riding trials that they would be willing to share? We've looked at the pics of the youth nats and I've got pro videos but would like my 10 year old son to see some kids in action. I'm hoping to get more than just highlights, but don't know what might be out there. I'd be willing to provide reasonable compensation to cover mailing costs, effort, etc. Thank you, Brent Mullen

Stewie's got new toys to play with, Got to try both. The Vertigo is more abrupt and handles in a way that I think will reward the more physical rider. It wants to go up big things and seems really quick to want to lay over and change direction once the decision is made. The TRS is stable as a concrete block. At any point I stopped and balanced it just patiently waited until I made up my mind. It also has a lovely soft grunt to it. For me the TRS would be the bike of choice. A friend who rides expert and likes BIG hits went up to try both. Intent on the TRS he ended up ordering the Vertigo. Both are pretty impressive first efforts though it's obvious the TRS ta…

Well the big news last week was that RYP had taken on Montesa as importer, it was even even published on the US Montesa website as I understand. Perhaps prematurely as I just looked at the site, seems they still have stock from '05 yet unsold and new imports are, well? No mention of RYP, guess it did not happen, shame. As quoted from the Montesa site: 2008 News It is unclear of the dates and times of arrival or the amount of 2008 units that will be imported, or even possibly not. It is certian the the price of the 2008 if imported will be a retail of $8,900.00 for the standard unit and $9,499.00 for the Repsol, we are not publishing any photos on these units at this t…
