I have just been reading the article about Pat Smage, first time i've read it. Why is he riding a 290 Sherco bike???? Their have been various posts on here regarding this kid, about him possibly riding in the Youth Indoor etc, and about getting a US rider into the WTC. The article also say's he wants to ride some Youth WTC round after his 16th birthday. Surely by riding a 290 he is going to struggle in any Youth WTC rounds where he would have to make the transition to ride a 125!! and similarly in any UK youth champs. Can anyone post a picture of a big wheel 80 standing besides a full size Trials bike ? I want to get an idea of the size of a 80 (never seen a 80 in person). My 9 year old son is getting too big for his OSET 16.0, but the 80 might be too big for him. Thanks.

Hi All - I'm a new boy, well Dad actually. I'm having a few problems getting my lad started in trials. I have all the gear, bike, trailer etc but nowhere to go. My boy cannot actually ride as yet so what I need is a big flat grass field for him to get used to the bike before we can enter anything. We can get no help from our council as we are considered a nuisence rather than a sport. Does anyone know of such a place we can go local to Chorley in Lancashire please? It does need to be grass though. Thanks - Jim

Sadly there are still instances of some parents not filling in entry forms correctly. Some don’t seem to appreciate that the entry form is a legal document and required to be correct in full for insurance purposes as well as getting their offspring in the right class. It is doubtful whether some parents ever read the small print. Karen Crabtree took sixty one entries for the Mansfield Maun B/C/D/ opening championship trial last Sunday. In that number twelve riders had no bike listed… The Bradford and Yeadon-Guiseley clubs are running youth trials on June 10 and 11 at Skyrakes and Brimham Rocks. Observers will be welcomed.

First post for me... I know this kind of question turns up fairly often and I've read through the similar questions on the forum, but my Son is new to trials; ridden probably 5 times (2 local trials with me) and currently has a Beta minitrial (do not seem to get that good a rep on the board but it has done him well for the short period he has had it since he now has confidence in his balance and braking skills to some extent without the confusion of bringing a clutch into the situation). However after the short intro on this bike (he is 9, average size) I think progress to a manual bike with more power is required, the auto minitrial is limited on some of the hills. T…

Anybody tried doing an engine swop so as to avoid the crap twist and go thing? Once my boy has grown a bit more we would like to progress to a proper petrol bike but a medium wheel might be too big for him so I was wondering if I could mod a gasgas boy to a proper multi gear bike?? Any ideas?

Richmond Motor Club annual Cogden Hall Youth Training School The Richmond Motor Club annual youth training session took place at Cogden Hall, Grinton, last Wednesday and Thursday under torrential rain conditions. Despite appalling weather sixty four youngsters spent two full days with licensed instructors Richard Sadler, Guy Kendrew, Ian Austermuhle, Jack and James Stones, John Sunter, Rob Waite and Matt Maynard. Just back from Richmond where NYL "cramped up" on final lap so failed to finish. However we believe Jack Challoner took A Class victory (nice one "JC"), and Alex Wigg came in third. Jonathan Richardson took the B class win.

I've just been informed that the ACU have allowed us to alter our dates to avoid a clash with the YMSA 3 day event. Ladies National will now be held on 13th August. C & D National will be held on 19th August. A & B National will be held on 20th August.

JUST THINKING ABOUT IT DONT KNOW IT IS HARD I WILL BE RIDING C EASY PLEASE REPLAY BACK !!!!!

On the 7th of June this year RMC will once again run the Mintex Trophy Trial in it's original format, Time & Observation for Schoolpersons. Open to A Class, B Class & ACU approved C Class riders the event will be run on a two lap format. The planned course will form a lap of approximately 15 miles & will provide a true Scott style test. Entry Details & Regulations are available to download from the RMC website.
