Youth Trials

For discussion on the Youth scene in the UK

  1. Would anyone like to please inform me which of the many great under 20 yr old riders are planning to attend the USA WORLD ROUND. I am escpecially interested in meeting w/ riders and families who speak a little English. Also an idea of what dates of arrival are likely ,this would help my plans for when to head that way. With the first 6 NATC events held during our school year its a job to decide how much school Patrick can miss and still get his drivers license and passing grades that is one reason we are putting off till July or August any trips to Spain or G.B. Thanks ahead to anyone who takes time to read this and reply.

A & B Class Here C & D Class Here Looks like most routes were set out pretty well. The C class Looks like it was a bit tough and section 8 on the Medium wheels D class looked a bit pointless. However the riders seem to have been sorted out nicely.

Please continue with your views here away from direct line of the youth riders. Team Sam Haslem, a super smooth rider from a lovley family, Team Jack Challenor the profesional approch from a team that just gets on with the job. Team Ben Morphett, Ben was asked what he wanted to do on his birthday, go Ice Skating or Bowling, his awnser was can't we go practicing then.

Well done to Dai And Kay Bedford and the club members for putting on a great trial on a great bit of land with a good variation in sections. Yes it was tough, it is a British Championship after all! The breeding ground of future Dougie Lampkins! This trial justified the considerable expense many parents incur getting their offspring there. It can be frustrating travelling to a national and finding a more testing trial could have been ridden locally! It was great to see the top lads have a five without the trial being lost. The hard sections brought out some awesome rides.

Took my grandson to his first trial on Sunday at Drumcarro-East Neuk of Fife Dabbers venue The club should be congratulated on this absolutely fabulous piece of ground, and for their enthusiasm to extend the lap by acquiring further ground which was used for the first time. Well done!

I'm looking to get my 8yr old son his first bike. I'm keen on an electric bike as I hope he'll get more use of it, due to it being quiet, and I hope he'll take to it better than a bike with a clutch. Can some one please advise the difference between the Beta and the Oset 20. I'd probably go for the Oset Eco, rather than the Racing. Cheers

  11. There will be a conducted small wheels trial at the Castleside Trial this Sunday 17th at Lambshields (see events calendar for location details). There will be hard and easy courses so we can cater for everything from Osets through to Big wheel 80 (or 125 beginners !) Nothing difficult, we will probably be running a morning trial, then a different route of the afternoon (results added together for overall). Bring the kids along - note start time - 9.30am ! This is due to the main trial being a long lap so early start. Hope to see you sall there Sunday Any questions please ask on here and I'll do my best to answer cheers John

Hi all. Looking to move my boy up from an Oset onto a petrol bike, mainly because he's outgrowing it fast, also because the hassle of being in the middle of a wood when the batteries run out is p***ing me off! if I go petrol the only option seems to be a beta 50 or 80. I know they don't make the 50 now, so a few questions. 1. Is there any other option bar a beta? 2. Is the 50 with a clutch and 4 speed a proper trials engine as the twist and go versions were little ktm units? am I better going straight to a medium wheel 80? Yes, he's only 7 but he is a big strong lad for his age and towers over his oset 20! Thankyou all!

Looking for a helmet for my daughter to start competing, what an absolute nightmare! Live not to far from a supplier in west cumbria so went to try them on and managed to get one that was a decent fit but had no ACU sticker on. When I enquired about this he said it passed all testing and was not sure if it needed a sticker on or not to compete in trials but did say that they could put one on if needed!! Tried to e-mail ACU with a question regarding this and its been a week and no reply, are they like this? So we are left in a dilemma of do we get the helmet or should we look for something else? Disappointed with the ACU. Can anyone clarify about having the sticker or rec…
