  2. Hi guys, due to circumstances beyond the clubs control we’ve had to change a couple of venues for the kids championship. Fortunately our first round is now being held just across the road from where we originally planned so the post code remains the same. If anyone is interested in taking part or just helping out please drop me a line. Cheer, BigT MiniChamps Venue Changes.pdf

I think it,s a great shame that the Mintex time trial and the stDavids BTC trials clash as several of the top youth riders would like to take part in both events. I also understand that the Y.M.S.A. have a round of their championship planned for the same day, which will affect entries at both events. There are several dates in June with nothing much on, just a shame for everyone that the Mintex could,nt move to the 27th then all the top youth riders would be there.

Hi, my son seems to have some ideas about getting a motorbike to learn to ride, and I'm trying to get him to try go in the trials direction.. Could anybody give me some ideas of what would be a suitable bike sizewise for him (preferably at the lower end of the price scale..). He's 12 in mid-September, and is about average for his height, maybe a few cm more. Thanks, Kevin

Have any TY80 dads out there fitted an "easy clutch" or clutch lightener? It seems there are 2 ways of doing it - is one of them better than the other? http://yambits.co.uk/ty80-easy-clutch-p-32444.html http://www.tytrials.co.uk/trailandtrialsuk/prod_47644-Clutch-Lightening-Lever-Forged.html Many thanks

  11. Started by Mountainbrad,

I want to get my 11 year old son a trials bike. Gas powered is preferred. The riding around here, in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada, is long climbs with steep technical trails. Me and my buddies are less into observed trials, more into climbing steep rock faces and wicked rooty sections. Electric doesn't cut it here. This is obviously not the type of terrain for my beginner son, who has no motorized experience, but is a decent mountain biker. Is a 125 to big?

Hi all, New here but not to bikes. I ride a lot of enduros, hare & hounds and have ridden trials in the past. My 9 year old son has been riding enduro and MX for the past 2 yeasr now on a KTM 50SX so is pretty good on a bike but is not used to gears. Hes done a couple of Enduros and rides really well. I want to start trials riding with him to help his balance practice this winter. Iv ridden trials myself but wasnt sure what bike to get him. I have been reading other posts and topics on here regarding junior bikes but im not sure of the size. He is quite short like his Dad but has good balance so I think the junior 80s would be ok for him. The 50s look small but im no…

Results are posted at www.abergavennyautoclub.co.uk/ A very competitive Class C saw Jack Stones just edge out Luke Walker, Iwan Roberts and Rob Waite. Jack Burch was well placed until lap 3 when he picked up two 5s due to engine problems. He managed to make repairs and fought back to 5th. In Class D the Peace lads cleaned up, Dan taking MW from Michael Todd and Jack, SW from Aldis Blacker.

Hi All, I want a bit of advice here for my 10 year old son. He rides a 125 well and wants to compete but was 10 on the 20/4/2012 and born on the 20/4/2002 making him a class C junior according to the ACU handbook. As a Class C junior he can only ride a maximum 80cc bike, only missing the age gap by 3 months. Is this ruling set in stone or can the organisers/chairman of trials events have the final say at their discretion? or will he have to wait until hes 13 to ride a 125... Thanks Nick

Hi There i am just starting to look at getting into trials as a newbie and my ten year old son wants to get a bike as well. he has had an oset 16 but this has got too small or him but i do not know what to buy him next. we want to practise but but also do some club trials as well Do i go for an oset20 or do i go down the petrol engined route with a 50cc or 80cc geared or auto? he did ride a 65cc motocross bike and had an auto before that so i think he would be ok getting used to having a clutch please help all advice welcome as i do not have a clue on youth trials Thanks

There will be a kids 'TY or small wheels; route at the South Shields trial at Oxen Law this Sunday (See events liting for details). Courses will set to ability, complete beginners are more than welcome ! The trial will be run on really good land (woods, banksides etc), really close to the parking area. More than likely there will be a morning then afternoon trial, with plenty of bike time. Sections will be marked out to take marks but nothing dangerous at all. Bring the kids along, like I said, even if they have never rode a trial - as long as they can start, ride and stop a bike there will be a course set out for them. Any questions - please ask on here and I will do…
