  3. Started by Prototype,

I found the copy of old Royal Enfield scrambler & Trials brochure on internet, feel like sharing it. good to know the specs of the bikes in those days.

  4. Started by rhayaderman,

Sadly the enthusiastic Bates family have cancelled the above event that was going to run this Saturday 22nd October due to lack of entries-just 20 entries recieved that would have run on sections used pre 65 for the British Experts Trial.

  5. Started by Sectioned,

I'm going to reduce castor angle on my farm bike project, so...I entered current steering geometry specs into an online calculator (I'm lazy and its quicker) but the trail was a lot more than OEM spec when calculated. I fiddled around a bit and it seems the manufacturers figures are based on having no tyres on rims. This I understand would take out the tyre height variance of different products but seems its not a real world measurement. Are all motorcycles measured in this way for spec sheet? My bike is completely disassembled so can't check for sure now. I don't want to alter frame until I know I'm comparing apples to apples.

Its with great sadness I have to report that John sadly passed away on Sunday following a stroke the previous day. A great supporter of trials in the EASTERN centre and classic trials up and down the country and sometimes across the channel.. A good friend always on the end of the phone to offer advice and will be sadly missed, with always an opinion on what ever subject........not only trials. RIP

  7. Hi I want to remove two rusty, seized 6mm exhaust studs from a 45 year old Honda 4 stroke alloy barrel, as I need to install longer ones. I have soaked them in WD40 for 2 weeks. I have also heated the studs to cherry red. I then tried turning them, using two locked nuts, but they won't turn. I am afraid they will shear off if I put any more pressure on them. They are not currently snapped off, so I don't need to drill them out. However, I do want them out. What to do? Anyone have experience of doing this? Thanks

  10. Started by heavywrecker,

I'm currently building a 3TA for beginners trials, green lanes and LDT's I have fitted a 14t front sprocket and am looking for advice/ suppliers of a larger than standard rear sprocket. (Standard Primary drive ratio fitted) I need the bolt up brake drum too. I'm thinking around 54 to 60 rear teeth, am I on the right track here? Also, do we think I will need to fit rim locks to stop the rear tyre slipping (or is the 350 so 'soft' it won't slip at 4 psi ) ? Cheers

Hi All, A friend of mine owns a 1958 tiger cub converted for Trials and my question is how important is it that the wheels are central to the frame and wheels in line as to centre? There is very little clearance for the chain as regards the rear tyre. He is a little obsessed to get the wheels central and in line and has started to cut and weld (bodge)the frame. I think he is slowly destroying the bike. The swingarm has been widened a long time ago and the engine was over in the frame as far as it would practically go but the wheel rim was off centre so as to clear the chain. I suspect they mostly all suffer this problem. Is there A way to get this right without cutting and…

Hi all, hope to see some of you over the weekend riding around Cowcombe Woods near Stroud, I'll be there on the BSA. I've entered the Clubman route firstly because you can't change routes and secondly you can never predict how hard the Expert route will be especially in a Golden Valley Classic trial. After saying that I bet I backed the wrong horse :-( Maybe catch up for a beer after the trial?

Does anyone know anything about this event? They used to be two seperate events but looks like they've been combined. It's on the ACU fixture list for 10/7 to be organised by East Midlands centre?? I've heard nothing about it, just wondered if anyone else has.

  19. Started by sir trial a lot,

Hi, Ive just bought a old Montesa to add into my collection of bikes but im unsure of the engine size and the year of the bike. Does anyone know anywhere that i can find out by the frame/engine numbers? they match and just incase anyone is so kind to do it for me they are, 29M02713 .... I know someone has literally just asked this question but the reply is all numbers beginning with 21M that made me double check and mine is definately 29M. many thanks.

  20. Hi there Can anyone help please. On TC I have seen a natty little item I can only describe as an in (fuel) line coupler / de-coupler. An item that 'splits' a fuel line with a twist or bayonnet action. At the time I put the link into favourites, but since have had computer troubles and have lost favourites. Thanks in advance. Regards Sparks2
