just opened up my new 03 beta as it was knocking with the intention of cleaning up the piston / head as reccomended else where on the site to find NO water in the radiator or engine.. i've literally had this 2 weeks from a respected dealer, I suspect that the radiator is crushed ( is it suppossed to have a crushed core and appear bent on the offside?) looking at the frame closely it looks like it has fallen very heavily on the frame and that has been bent back, what do you think or am I PARANOID!

  3. Hi all, This may have been covered but here goes. I have 30 hours on the bike and everything was fine from new but once it was run in it started to bang under load from long step banks. The bike shop sent me a new CDi thinking this was the issue all was fine last week and until the later part of today the banging came back after the bike was really hot. This banging noise does not happen on the new 19 model so I am lost to why it is doing it. Has anyone got any ideas to what it could be? I had betas years ago and not had this kind of issue I have only just come back into the sport and with it banging like it is am worried it's doing damage to the bore or piston.

I have a 2014 factory model beta. The rear brake has always seemed weak. I got a ride today on a 2017 factory model and the brake felt much much better....much stronger yet just as easy to control. Visually, the main difference is the NG brake disk which has less cut out area so more friction area. Has anyone tried installing the NG disk on a 2014 or anything else to improve brake power? The other difference I noticed was that the metal backing plate of the pads was sort of a bright brass colour. Mine are sort of a dull colour. I think they mine are the Jitsi race pads but the originals felt much the same.

  5. i'm about 7 months into trials now and had a chance to ride a few four strokes so looking to sell my Sherco 290. there's a tidy looking beta evo 300 in my area, does anyone own one and can suggest things to watch out for with this model? googling around doesn't reveal anything. it seems the clutch was improved on this year model, it starts easily when hot. thanks in advance for any tips...

I decided to remove and check the carb on my new-to-me Evo 300 4T. I wasn't totally happy with the way it ran on my first practice day so I went diving in to see if I could find anything wrong. Just understanding the thing is the main problem. I've got the table of settings and the factory parts list, but I'm struggling to understand which part is which in a few cases. First off, the tables gives the start jet as a 60 and the slow jet as 17.5 or 27.5. However the parts list calls the jets that are 17.5 - 30.0 the starter jet! I'm hoping that's a mis-translationas the Italian version calls it a getto minimo (as opposed to the main jet which is getto massimo). …

  7. Hi guys: ... Today while I was returning from a ride in the woods I stopped to do ..... .... "a prostatic discharge" .... Unfortunately when I went to resume the bike I noticed that .... SHE HAD THE SAME IDEA .... just put in motion lost water from the gasket HEAD-CYLINDER right side ...... exactly under the pump impeller casing . Lose only with the engine running and only at the minimum .... if I give gas stops losing .... I think it is excessive wear of the oil / water seal + pump impeller shaft. The leakage of water comes out with a good probability from the spy hole that allows precisely the water no longer held by the seal to escape and do not go to contaminate the o…

Hi all, There don't seem to be many rebuild threads on here of air cooled stuff, so thought I would post some pics of my TR34. I have had this since it was 6 months old, and it's had a pretty easy life until I left it in a shed with a leaky roof for a couple of years and everything corroded It's been a total strip down, frame, engine, hubs, etc all repainted, and everything that was plated, replated. It's been a struggle getting some of the bits, but nearly there now. I will add more pics as it progresses. I hope you enjoy the pics. Cheers, John.

My Rev-3 250 was delivered to me with an NGK BP5ES installed. I switched out to the Beta-specified Champion N7YC (couldn't find the N7YCC - Copper Core). What is everyone else running in the 250 / 270 REV-3? Is there a cross-reference to a Bosch part number?

  11. I think I read somewhere here that Dougie hadn't even seen the EVO until its official introduction. Is this true? I would think his input would be priceless!

I seem to be having some bad luck with a 2007 Rev 3 250 I bought a few weeks back, I have only rode it for about 7 hours in total on 3 occasions and its played up in some way each time. 1st time out I couldn't get it started, unbeknown to me the stock kill switch sticks on which a helpful person where I was riding pointed out but the next day and from then on it wont start unless the lights button was depressed as well. 2nd time out I found that when I shut off the throttle it takes about 10 seconds for the revs to drop to idle speed and there's pinking at low revs, another kind gentleman where I was riding advised me there might be an air leak on the intake and to serv…

Hello, on my Beta Evo 300 2 stroke 2012 a bolt came loose and blocked my crankshaft. The bolt came out my crankshaft itself, we think a production issue, bad use of locktide product or even no locktide used while crankshaft parts were merged See picture from the bolt who came loose from the inside of crankshaft Does anyone had this problem in the past or heared about ? Thanks Guido

  17. Hi All My 2005 Rev-3 started making a noise when running recently. The noise was most obvious on the overrun, after closing the throttle from medium revs it sounded like a rumbly-grumbly noise, a bit like the engine was full of marbles. Equally, when riding, vibration could be felt through the pegs. Naturally I didn't ride the bike after that, although it would start and run - it was just noisy. Today I pulled the engine out of the bike to have a look. The piston and barrel are in good shape, and neither of the rings are broken - which is a relief. However, there are flakes of metal all over the place: Here are more pictured inside the engine: More: There…

I have a rev 3 and the radiator is mounted on three rubbers which look to be bonded to metalwashers. But from there i dont have a clue how it is attatched. The rubbers seem to have come unstuck from the washers on both the bottom bolts, how is it meant to be and how is this rubber thing attatched to the frame and radiator, it is very difficult to see now it has collapsed. Any advice would be helpful, and has anybody ever expeienced this before? What new parts do i need? This probably sounds abit stupid but I really am confused by this one. Thanks.

Recently got this bike and it does a fair bit of knocking especially after revving it when the engine is coming back to idle. Gets worse when it is warm. Stripped and cleaned the carb but it hasn't made any difference really. It has a 48 pilot jet in a keihin carb. If I turn the air screw right in it goes away but it doesn't sound right and no power (strangely enough). Looking for suggestions to try next....

So I've got a beat up old 2001 rev 3 270. I've spent a bit of cash doing it up and it runs fairly well, the brakes are fine and I've serviced the forks. However, the swingarm bearings are shot and I expect the shock has had it. It's the age where I can't get the shock serviced so have been living with it as I'm just a novice anyway. However, when I see other people's bikes and their suspension just looks so much more responsive, I do wonder how much of an affect it's having. I'm also 230lbs so would prefer a stiffer spring but cannot get one for my bike. I notice that over rocks, its pretty fine (probably because it's so unresponsive) but it does struggle for gri…
