Has anyone successfully managed to clean up a plastic tank to its original yellow. The tank has gone a darker yellow over the years, usually due to UV from sunlight, and the replacement new plastics are significantly lighter. Just wondered if there is a tried and proven method for restoring the original colour without making a mess of it. The plastic is baby bum smooth at the moment and I don't want to try any method that will rough it up.

Restoring a 240 Swm and the rear silencer box was full of the usual crud and also the the two baffles had come loose virtually blocking the way out for the exhaust gases. Is it best to reweld the baffles back in to their original positions or can you leave them out to let the engine breathe easier? Thanks.

  8. Started by turps,

Can anyone help me please, I have just bought an 81 SWM 320. The problem is that the engine and gearbox came in a vaiety of boxes and many different parts. As I have never stripped one of these before I am not sure how to put it back together, has anyone got some exploded diagrams, perhaps on cd-rom that I could use this would be very helpful thanks. James

been thinking about it for a while, but with three SWMs in this weeks Sammy Miller round maybe its time for some SWM riding shirts ? Had a look on the Destroy Clothing website and they do a vintage style shirt (for Honda's and Bultacos for example) but they will make up an SWM logo'd shirt (the Racer style at bottom of the page) What ideally I need is; a good picture of one we can copy the style of (sure there is a picture of Danilo Galeazzi wearing a shirt with an SWM logo around the neck at the SSDT, but cannot now find it, Motosinge?). Making up 15-20 shirts will take a few quid off the price, as potentially would putting on a suppliers logo and URL (?) Anyone inter…

I have a set of OZO shocks on my SWM TL320. They aren’t leaking oil but are very springy/bouncy. They have shrader valves can i fill them with air? If so how much? I know you’re supposed to fill with nitrogen but I have a trials this weekend and no way to get that done right now. But the air would be temporary. Thanks

I bought a 1980 SWM TL320 last year that was in need of a lot of work. I'm fixing it up to compete in vintage trials. I'm replacing the swingarm bushings and have had a heck of a time just removing one bushing. Anyone have a better way to remove and replace these bushings? I have a few different ideas but thought I would ask here for some advice. Thanks

Hi all, new on here but have been looking at the thorny subject of SWM clutch upgrades on the TL models. after pulling the clutch to bits several times and not being able to improve the standard set up i by chance got talking to Gary at Sportax Racing, he was able to supply the Aprilia type kit with 12mm ball bearings and also some standards generic to all motors, standards clutch springs. The springs are lighter than the 37mm ones fitted and also shorter at 33mm. The difference is massively noticeable ( just about one very strong finger😁). Apparently the 37mm springs are classed as heavy duty and due to their bulk when compressed, they can foul on the basket and pos…

Hi , i am halfway through re-packing the mid box and seperate silencer on my TL 320 . Have cut open the mid box and de-coked it ,re-packed it and am going to weld it up -ok. I have now cut open the back of the rear silencer (the side that usually rubs on tyre) to find that inside it only has baffle plates and no core or packing- Can anyone please tell me if this is correct and should it have cores/packing and has anyone re-packed theirs? Thanks

There is a tubeless tyre on the rear - 'Vee Rubber - Trial Benissimo'- Made in USA. Never heard of this make but the question is; are there any problems running this with a tube and will standard rim locks work ? Many thanks.
