The reed induction 350 engine fitted to the SWM Jumbo and Armstrong 350 trials bikes was also used in some trail bikes I believe and possibly some motocross bikes as well. Does anyone know which other bikes used these engines? I think they were fitted in some Armstrong/CCM trail bikes but not sure which. I'm hoping to find a spare clutch cover but it doesn't have to have come from an SWM Jumbo engine, it can come from anything as long as it fits, I don't care if it doesn't say SWM on it. If I knew what other bikes these 350 engines were fitted to I could ring around some of the bike breakers and ask, but at the moment I don't know which bikes to ask about. Anyone got an…

Question for any of you SWM owners whose bikes have a nice light clutch action - How do you set up the clutch spring tension? Are the pressure plate bolts tightened right up to the end of their travel and left like that or are they then backed off so many turns. Bike in question is a Jumbo which has the lightener under the tank connected up but the clutch action on the lever is very heavy - the pressure plate bolts are screwed all the way in so I'm wondering if they should be backed off a little but as I have no manual or set up info I've no idea. I can experiment obviously but if someone knows how they should be set it would make life easier than trial and error. Alt…

been thinking about it for a while, but with three SWMs in this weeks Sammy Miller round maybe its time for some SWM riding shirts ? Had a look on the Destroy Clothing website and they do a vintage style shirt (for Honda's and Bultacos for example) but they will make up an SWM logo'd shirt (the Racer style at bottom of the page) What ideally I need is; a good picture of one we can copy the style of (sure there is a picture of Danilo Galeazzi wearing a shirt with an SWM logo around the neck at the SSDT, but cannot now find it, Motosinge?). Making up 15-20 shirts will take a few quid off the price, as potentially would putting on a suppliers logo and URL (?) Anyone inter…

after some investigation it seems that not all Jumbo's have a Reed Valve engine, rather than the 280 Disc Valve. However it seems that there is a No-Reed Valve version also. The Reed Valve Block was only fitted on bikes with engine serial number upto 178597, after that you got a blanking plate. Recent performance comparison's with my 280TL (currently in Gavin's tuning shop, ie my neighbours workshop) have got me lusting after a Reed Block, which are now not available from Rotax. It pulls well without, but is missing some of the 'rush' I'd expect and can be quite slow to get on the power (this is also probably due to the slooow action throttle). I need to do some furthe…

over the last couple of months I've been getting through condensers rather too quickly, initially on my 320TL and now on the Jumbo. So done some investigative work and written it on my (mainly SWM) blogging website. SWM electrics I've basically not found the problem, but tried to eliminate the likely suspects, we shall see....
