OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by emerson,

Hi I recently bought an Oset 16.0 36v (second hand) for my 7 yr old son. I've tried it out myself in the back garden but it goes quite slow (with power up full) up a fairly gentle slope (not much more than walking pace) with me on it (I'm about 80kg I guess). I've charged the batteries and they take charge ok. they are all reading 12.7 volts. Is that too low, i.e. are the batteries done? I guess they should all be reading about 13 v if they're in very good condition? Other than the batteries being low is there any reason the bike would go slow (chain seems to be ok). THere is some resistance when I push the bike; I can feel the poles of the motor; is that norm…

  3. Hey Guys, Just got the kids some Osets, any advice on handlebard padding and smaller more user friendly break levers? Breaks have made the stock adjustments, moved levers closer, oiled/greased cables, cleaned calipers and still not as smooth and close as needed. many thanks!!

  9. Hi All, Hoping for a little wisdom. My lads 20" stopped running the other day after riding with the rear brake dragging a little. Anyway, the current situation is, the keyswitch powers on the throttle LED's showing full power but the relay doesn't click. I've checked the switch feed to the relay and I don't see any voltage. The switch feed seems to originate from the controller, so my only thought is that the controller is goosed. I've also tried another set of batteries just in case they are on low charge. Any other thoughts? Cheers, Wayne.

  10. Hi... Does anyone know if you are able to put a pair of Oset 20 wheels (2012) straight on an Oset 16 (2014)? If anyone could help with this it would be greatly appreciated,

  11. Started by mxoset,

I am hoping this will be obvious to someone but I can't figure what the power dial does? I got the new oset 20 home yesterday first ride and my 9 yo daughters straight away asking for all the dials to be turned up. Now at 100% on speed switch. The lower setting is 75% apparently. The "uptake" dial at half way so the throttles not too snappy (this is great feature) The power dial is a mystery. Same speed and acceleration when twisted low or high? What is it supposed to do? I am worried its broken as the bike is not as crazy a i heard they were. No power wheelies here or scared kid at full throttle. I recon my modded 16 running on 33.6v lipo is as quick. Any pointers …

Hi, Can I put fatter than my current 20x2.5 tyres on the back wheel of my 20.0? If so, where would I get them? If not, I guess I need a new back wheel and tyre combo -again, which and where to buy? Any advice? Cheers CG

Hi, I've installed a kelly controller onto my sons Oset 20 which is running a genuine oset lithium battery pack. I've followed the wiring diagram from kelly and also from an article by Mxoset on here. The controller powers on and I can configure it with the laptop but I'm not managing to get it working the motor. Any help/advice appreciated.

  14. Started by Yrocmoto,

Been reading the posts I can find about this and see that most are using RC packs in series, which I can do and have done with other electric bike projects. But I'd rather have a pack with a BMS so the cells can be charged and balanced on the bike all at once. What I'm having trouble with is the max volts that the Oset's controllers can handle. Most Lipo or Lithium packs are well above 48v and most peak around 58v and that worries me. All my other electric bike projects have been for 36v and I have sent over 48v to those without issue...but this Oset is a way more expensive bike and I don't want to blow any electronics. Here's the pack I'm looking at, probably th…

Hi folks. my daughters oset 20 lite has started switching off when you open the throttle. If you switch the kill switch off then back on again the power comes back on until you try and open the throttle again. If the rear wheel is off the floor it will spin the rear wheel as soon as you put the rear wheel down it will cut out

  17. Hello everyone, I am writing to see if you can help me. As I mentioned in the presentation, we are new to the world of trials and for Adrian I got him an Oset 20 lite, which runs at 36v, the bike came with lead batteries, which barely lasted at all and even less. I have bought a lithium battery for her of 36-42v and 21aH, with a continuous discharge of 160A (according to the manufacturer). The motorcycle now has a spectacular duration, but the problem comes when on some occasion, perhaps when accelerating very suddenly, the motorcycle stops, with the ignition button on, the accelerator lights disappear and the motorcycle stops. To start it again you ju…

  18. Started by frogger,

I thought I'd start a thread to show some of the mods we have done to our Oset 20. Maybe other people can do the same and share any little tips to make it even better. The standard brakes were not to his liking and the pads wore through in a very short space of time the day before Christmas! Faced with the possibility of not riding the bike until the new year (because we couldn't get new brake pads sent) we bit the bullet and stuck some Shimano XT's on there. Awesome brakes! Also did some Renthal grips and bar ends while were at it. The motor was getting covered in muck and so we used an old heavy duty 18" inner tube cut to the right size and shape to make a mud guard…

I just got a used 20, the batteries are pretty much shot but rode it 3 times for 10 ish mins. The foot peg mounts are bending and the bolts are coming loose. Im a little over the weight limit at 240. wondering if I shouldn't just weld some on or is there another way? I have a CNC in my garage so I may try making some brackets that use all 4 mounting holes before i perm mod this thing. Also wondering what the recommended AGM batteries are. i cant spend 1k on a battery upgrade right now since I was lucky enough to find 3 used osets in the last month. I am also thinking about making a rear brake pedal mod getting crafty. Man when I pull this thing off the charger the first 2…
