Gas Gas

  1. Started by windlestone,

when purchasing a new gas gas everyone i speak to seems to receive different equipment. One person received the bike and lights others have recieved a handbook, tool kit and bum bag. Anyone know exactly what you should get. I always have and will continue to support my local dealer but some guys buying imports seem to get a lot more kit than guys purchasing from a dealer.

After reading the thread re. rear suspension play in another section recently, while checking my bike prior to tomorrow's trial I thought I'd see if there was any play on my bike. Bugger me, there's about 15mm vertical play in the swingarm (although no horizontal movement, fortunately). I guess the problem is where the linkage connects to the bottom of the shock, correct? Is it a difficult job for a mechanically-challenged person such as myself?

After repairing/replacing numerous parts on my now fully operational '99 TXT270, I've got around to setting the thing up properly. I've got the preload/sag set pretty much perfect but I'm finding the back end action (careful...) to be a little bit soft for my liking. Is there a damping adjustment on this bike 'cos if there is I can't find it?

I got a brand new 04 280Pro last week, Santa Cloud was on his way. Earlier I had a Beta Techno, and at those days, when I was surfing in the Internet, I found some information or recommendation concerning to run-in a new GasGas, and also some information about torqueing-moments for GG. As I told, at those days I rode Beta, and I didn't take those sites on my favourites. Now I can't find them anywhere. Can anybody help me, or have I had a dream? An other question: can I find fork-leg covers for Marzocchi somewhere? And how about covers for exhaust-pipe and silencer? Jaakko from Finland PS. There are about 4" snow and -10 degrees (Centigrade) out there, no way to ri…

Have any of you experienced trouble starting a GasGas? I have an 03 280 Pro which is difficult to start when cold. Once it has started it runs fine and when warmed up it will start first or second kick. I run unleaded fuel with around 75:1 mix. I have stripped the carb, cleaned the jets and the choke is working OK. The jets are as recommended in the manual. The plug is clean and I have checked that there is a spark. A mate of mine has an 02 250 Pro and he also sometimes has trouble when his bike is cold. My previous bike was a TY250 and that almost always started first time so maybe I have been spoiled! Do I just need a stronger right leg????? I am tempted to t…

I'm still looking for the following parts for a '99 TXT270: Complete sidestand assembly (or failing that, the arm only); Fuel tank; Footpegs (unmashed, if possible!) I *could* just buy new parts, but I'm a Yorkshireman and if there's any way of getting hold of stuff cheaply, I'm there. Thanks!

My 250 pro produces a pronounced rattle @ tickover especially on the overrun.the symptoms are typical of a worn top end ,the bike has not done much work and i have replaced the rings and inspected the bore which is in good order.i can only imagine the barrel is worn. Any suggestions before i invest in a replacement barrel and piston. ear plugs maybe!

Help ! Has anyone fitted the upgraded ignition system to a TXT50? I have the kit but the instructions although in English ??? have been written and translated by a Spaniard and as such are not that clear. Upgrade comprises new Rotor / Stator / CDI / and Coil. My TXT is a 2000 with an AC/DC convertor for cooling fan control, after I have fitted the new electrics I have a Green / Yellow wire left over which comes from a connector behind the headstock, which attaches to a yellow wire going to the AC/DC convertor. The Green / Yellow used to run down to the old stator, the old stator had 3 wires red, Black and Green/Yellow. Having tried all possible combinations, I can st…

Is anyone out there riding an 04 GasGas? I'm looking at upgrading the 2001 TXT sometime soon and would like to hear what people have to say about it. I'm also thinking about changing over to the 04 Techno.

Does anyone know how to stop the drag on my bike. It is driving me up the wall. Not literally, I can't do walls yet It's a 2003 125. It was really bad yesterday. Usually, it goes after the bike has warmed up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated by my husband, because I am driving him up the wall as well.
