Evening all, I had the Sherpa running around the other day for a good few hours and it felt great. No issues really, with most of the previous questions rectified. However at the end of the session the bike ran out of fuel again so I topped it up and it didn’t start up again. Still getting a really strong spark, I thought i had got the fuel mixture ratios wrong so I emptied the tank and and also cleaned the carb and jets out for good measure. Still no start. So I thought must be the timing. However, when refitting the mag case last, I have somehow mixed up a longer screw and screwed it into the wrong position (bottom screw thread) of the mag case, which has u…

Hi all, my first post here after a while ‘lurking’. I became the owner of an extremely tired M49 after a night in the pub. One of the many areas that needs sorting is a non-existent exhaust thread. I Came across a company called Billet parts who bored out, re-threaded and supplied an oversize securing collar but have not been able to contact them. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance, Andy

Hey Guy's,I have a 138 I have been sorting out and I am not sure if I have the correct brake light switch? When I apply the brake pedal it extends the switch pin and opens the circuit so when your foot it not on the brake pedal the switch is compressed and the circuit is closed, does that make sense?

Hey, new here. I just picked up a model 85 Alpina 250 and found out the piston was a 76mm. Anybody ever seen this? Seems like a huge jump from 72mm. The piston was cracked when I got it. Anybody know where I can get another one? thanks in advance.

I have recently put my bike back to original spec and now left with what I believe to be a Sammy Miller frame? Can anyone advise on a rough figure this would be worth? Bike is a 1981 T350, the frame has 645 stamped in usual position.

Hello All, I'm hoping for some suggestions on how to proceed with the exhaust on my latest project... I'm presently in the midst of an early M80 Sherpa T rebuild and am striving for original appearance yet with increased performance in the effort. I had one of these years ago and, like many, replaced the triangular muffler with an "S" pipe to a modern aftermarket spark arrestor which did perform better than stock but, to my eye, didn't look nearly as good - certainly not period correct, anyway. I eventually sold her to a friend to entice him into riding vintage trials with me and have missed the bike ever since. Such a beautiful tank design - truly a classic. …

Hi guys l have been having some great fun on my Sherpa 350 183 recently however I did a silly thing and left it outside for a few days and it got wet and stood there for a bit and so she didn’t start for a while. I re-cleaned the carb and renewed spark plug and it fired up BUT, the throttle cable was stuck on full whack and as I don’t have a kill switch on it yet it ran, full throttle for around 20-30 seconds before cutting out. I adjusted the throttle cable, and It re started moments later but then it came to a spluttering stop with a small backfire. Now it doesn’t start! I’ve tried a couple of new plugs, but nothing as of yet. Still plenty of compressi…

Over the weekend I competed in a vintage trials and a poker run on my M98 “Sherpina”. Both had some high-speed open field sections where I had the bike WFO in 5th gear. Twice the bike began to miss and sputter at full throttle. Changing the spark plug fixed the issue. Looking for an answer I discovered lead-fouling of spark plugs. This is more common in aviation, but it seems to make sense. Back in May I purchased some leaded race fuel, Trick 110, which I mixed 50/50 with non-ethanol premium (92 RON+MON/2), for running in my vintage motocross bike which needs the higher octane. Since I didn’t want the fuel to go to waste, I have been using it in other bikes. Two of the bi…

I know there are a lot of posts here about bultaco clutch but I just can't seem to get it 100% it seems to engage as when I have it pulled there is no compression . When i go into first it wants to pull away abit , normal ? Once I'm in first it's hard to get back into neutral and when I have it in gear and clutch pulled in the bike doesn't roll freely really hard to push and there's a squeek coming from the magneto side of the engine . Any suggestions ? Have to adjust the screw right up to pushrod to even get it to engage at all ...

My Model 27 Sherpa has metal tank badges fitted. I have just removed them to repair and paint the tank, and would like to fit new metal badges. I am sure I previously found someone selling new metal badges on the web, but have been unable to find them again. All the sites I checked just have the vinyl adhesive badges. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction to someone who sells the metal badges? Mine are pictured below. Regards, Peter.

Due to mechanical ineptitude I have one warped inner (earless) clutch plate in my original all steel clutch pack. If I order Barnett friction discs are they thick enough that I can discard the one problem inner steel plate or do I need a replacement?

Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the o ring that fits on the crankshaft before the collar, or sleeve, that the right side crank seals ride on on my 199A? I ordered the parts but didn't get that smaller O ring. I'd like to find one in town before I go out to the shop tomorrow.

I'm in the process of trying to rebuild a M116 Alpina basket case. Among the missing & broken parts is the resistor (or as my parts manual says, Ressitor Assembly 85.21-217). Does anyone know of a source for this part? OR, does anyone know the specs of the original part so I can look for a universal replacement? Thanks.
