Has anyone purchased one of these, if so did it fit allright, holes align etc. http://www.todotrial.com/ttshop/especiales-clasicas.htm# They appear to offer more width of coverage/protection than the std shield is this so. I also seem to recall an aftermarket shield that was turned or curved round at the sides, does anyone know if they are still available.

Has any one made a clutch spring compressor tool for the pin style clutches? I would love to get the dimension and make one up. It is really difficult to push in springs and pull the tiny pins with the motor in the frame. PS Going to look at a Montesa Cota 348 tomorrow. Any tips or part sources in Canada/ USA? Thanks Sunny

I'm trying to figure out what the differences are between a 1978 Sherpa-T (the red ones): http://ventura.craigslist.org/mcy/1897363687.html and the 1979 (blue with blue frame) 199A?: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/1861908943.html And the blue tank, white framed Sherpa-T (199B?) Is it just colors or are the frames, geometries, engines any different? Thanks!

I have the Haynes parts diagram but it looks a bit different than what I found when i stripped the forks down. I found two seperate seals with metal rings in each fork leg (4 total). Should there be 2 per fork? It also had no retaining ring or circlip or a groove for one? The seals I have found locally at bearing shop have no metal ring. should it? Or just rubber? The forks were very soft and I could compress easily and it did have some oil on the forks will new seals solve the softness? What weight oil should I use? I weight 250 lbs. I will be just riding trails and gravel roads etc.. Thanks for the help. Sunny

Hi, I'm rebuilding a '70 Sherpa T and was wondering if anyone has experience with gas tank restoration. The bike ran fine until it sat in a barn for the last few decades. I'm wondering the best way to clean it out and if sealing the inside is recommended. I have zero experience with fiberglass tanks. Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ryan California USA

I have fitted Electronic ignition to my bultaco sherpa from Bultaco[uk], when you line up the red mark on the back plate with the top fixing screw what would the ignition timing be. Thanking you in advance Hightown

Hi all, Can anyone suggest where i might get hold of a right hand side outer engine casing for 1975 Sherpa T 250 (model 150). It is the right hand side outer casing with the clutch adjuster that i need, as mine is cracked. I have asked Bultaco UK (Egham) and they only have knackered/welded/cracked ones - nothing usable. As a long shot, I have also asked Hughs Bultaco in NY. Is there anyone else i could try Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers, Max

Hi, Aplogies if this is a very basic question... I have just removed the head and barrel from my 75 Sherpa 250 (150 model) for blasting/painting, but I am now having trouble comressing the 2 piston rings for re-installation of the barrel. How do I compress the piston rings, so i can drop the barell back over the piston? The Haynes manual says to use a 'ring clamp' is this different to 'normal' ring compressor? Any pointers much appreciated. Thanks, Max

decided to use the top end off another 340 that I've been restoring in order to save a little money putting my stolen bike back in service. I notice that the piston on this bike has no holes drilled in the sides as my other 340 has. Both jugs are identical. Will this make a big difference in performance? What is the purpose of the holes if the motor will run without them?

Need some help figuring out what I have. I know its a 1978 Bultaco 199 but I have some confusion because of the frame. I purchased the bike a few months ago from the original owner in Colorado. It had the original Colorado title issued in July, 1978 with the proper VIN # that matches the frame and the engine. My problem is that the frame looks like a 199A. It has the aluminum skid plate, split rear swing arm, etc... I have a friend that owns a 1979 Bultaco 199A and the frames are identical. Last year I adopted an unloved 199A Sherpa T. Like most children it has absorbed large amounts of money and is still far from perfect. It seems I have the engine, suspension and brakes fairly well sorted now. After a good ride in some intermediate level sections this morning I think the best improvement in rideability I can make now would be to lower the footpegs (I'm fairly tall). Does anyone have photos, templates or advice to offer me? My intent is to compete occasionally on this bike in both modern and vintage events. How might I identify a Bultaco Model 124 & what are the + & - of this model, best sprocket sizes, useful info etc

Is there any specific symptom that can be caused by a partially blocked (or misplaced baffle) in the front muffler please, before i cut it open? I have a running problem only when crawling along at up to 1/4 throttle opening - pinging / jerky / like pre-igniting. Bike is very responsive otherwise. Have new seals , bearings, piston, carb, ignition. Have done a leak down test - ok. Have tried a lectron / bing / oko carbs all with different combos of jetting. Have tried different timing settings. Muffler was repacked not so long ago by cutting a section out of the back near the bracket and maybe i was too aggressive at stuffing material back in and dislodged baffle??? …

I bought a book at the Flea Market held every Sunday all Summer it was a 1st edition Don Smith's "Ride It" ($1 CAN) and mentioned to seller that I had two old Bultaco's. He replied by saying that he had a few Bultacos in the past and might have some more "stuff". I told him I would be very interested in buying it. My 199b runs great when first started but as time goes on performance degrades substantially. By the 3rd loop she is knocking and chattering as if running out of fuel. Let the bike sit for a while and the bike gets better. Carb is original rebuilt and is clean, new points and condenser last year. Any suggestions?

What is the main difference between the Ossa mar 35mm forks compare to the Bultaco Sherpa forks. Is it the size of the holes in the damper. Thanks Hightown
