Anyone know of a cheap substitute for the TR280 fuel cap until I get a proper replacement? Up here in the GNW ordering parts take a long while to get here. Kinda need one by Saturday. Sheesh thats two days away. Does the Beta EVO fit?

I'm thinking of having a go at trilas riding and as I own a couple of Ossa Road and Road Race bikes its got to be an OSSA for the dirt. After 35 years of riding on the road a recent go at a twin shock trial on an Yam TY 175 was a batism of fire for me, with everything I though I knew about riding a bike being turned on its head. I'm thinking of getting either a TR77 or a TY 80. Reeding different comments on the web there seems to be some issues with the handling of the TY 80 but no one seems to say exactly what or why it has issues. I know Mick Andrews didn't like it but again I don't know why. Can anyone shed some light on the what were the 'issues' wit…

Hello. I am from Russia. Sorry for my bad language. I bought OSSA Explorer, and after 3 hours i get black spark(spark was new NGK BP5ES). Air filter was clean, and i use synthetic oil for 2 stroke 10 ml/1 l gasoline. Its problem because too much gasoline in injection. I dont have diagnostic cable, and i want to check all sensor and wires, fuel Injector, and fuel pump. I remove temp air sensor, throttle position sensor and fuel Injector to check. And my fuel injector have number FBYCG80 800 1808. Its fuel injector from Subaru Impreza I think its not original fuel injector, but look same. It's my its origi…

Hi, I have been having problems with my gearbox on the ossa. It started a few weeks ago where I couldn't change up from 2nd to 3rd. The gearbox came out and the selector drum was worn where the rollers turn it. I replaced this and rode last weekend. I managed to get into all the gears, but it needed repeated attempts to change. Also I noticed that there was a vibration coming from the gearbox. I now have the gearbox out again and notice how much movement the drive shaft (sprocket) has. It will lean left and right and also the shaft itself will move up and down. I wonder if this is normal? What holds it at the bottom (opposite end to the sprocket)? N…

Guys, what main bearings are you using in your OSSA Grippers. The ones i took out are SKF ( OTHER BRANDS ARE AVAILABLE ), 6205 2 RSH . I only ask as i read this in an OSSA manual, bearing in mind its not a manual for the 350 Gripper................. NOTE: The left main bearing (OSSA Part No. 991-141) is slightly different than the right main bearing (OSSA Part No. 991-140). They are essentially the same bearings, but the internal clearance between the balls and races of the left bearing are greater than in the right. This difference is noted by the letters "C3" either stamped or printed on some part of the left bearing (Fig. 76 and 77). It is not recommende…

Desperately seeking help to getting my 2013 Explorer 280i back up and running. BACKGROUND- while riding and slowly accelerating in 3rd gear bike abruptly losses power and stalls. Checked for spark- ok. Changed spark plug. Stlll no start. Disconnected fuel line and checked fuel flow-ok. So I know I had fuel and fuel pump pressure. So I had to get the bike towed out of the trail. CURRENT DIAGNOSIS- IGNITION- Strong spark visible. If I squirt some fuel into cylinder chamber and reinstall the spark plug, it fires up and runs strong until the fuel burns off so Im assuming the entire ignition circuit is working properly. FUEL PUMP- Pressure is 50 PSI static…

Hi Guys I am rebuilding my OSSA. It never had a rear brake cable when I got it. I have the rear brake cable with the nipple one end and adjuster thread the other. I seem to be missing some parts like a 9mm barrel for the thread to pass through and a nut for adjustment. Can anybody advise? See attached pictures for frame and hub cable fitting points. Thanks Gordy

The Gripper I recently purchased has a length of hydraulic flexible hose connecting the cylindrical exhaust chamber by the swingarm to an original back box. What should it be , I can’t find any images anywhere of what original would be. A pic or two would help guys.

  14. I have researched the site before i get told off. I noted forum posts from 2008 from WOODY, ( TRIED TO SEND YOU A MESSAGE BUT IT WOULDN'T ACCEPT IT !! ) The original colour of yellow is RAL 1018, Zinc yellow, although some people say its to pale. I bought a can of 1018, primed it in grey and sprayed it, they were right a far paler shade than the one its wearing now. On speaking to other people i've been told that it needs a white primer. WOODY in 2008 you recommended, RAL 1021 , can you remember was it a white or grey primer. you used. Has anyone sprayed one up recently with a different opinion or RAL code. Thanks.

Trying to decide if I should part out or fix my 12 280i. Broke the seat and can't find a replacement except 13+ which requires new fender and graphics as well. Also broke a pin in the shift shaft which can be fixed reasonably. Would probably have $600+ in fixing. Everything else is in great condition. what do you guys suggest? how much do you think I could recoup in parts?

  18. I’ve just purchased a Gripper and was wondering if they ever did a Workshop Manual for it, or are all the 350 engines the same bar the fact there’s no Cush drive on the mine. Also seem unable to source a piston at the moment, not taken the barrel off yet so not sure what size I need at present. Anybody got any out there? Thanks.
