Following on from the error in the manual on dip stick screwed in or out when checking the engine oil level. I'm about to check the valve clearance for the first time. The manual states "aline the T mark on the flywheel with the index mark on the left crankcase cover" But I've come across this service bulletin click here Which one is right??

After 15 years of not riding I have taken the plunge and bought a 2005 4RT to get me back into it. First impressions are snappy off idle power (plenty off it compared to my old TL125) and noise! Sure is loud! Has the end cap but will have to pull off the front pipe to see which other restricters it has. It will probably have them as at a trial last week, there were 4RTs that were much louder. Have read all the replies in this forum but seems no one has a solution yet (WES silencer mentioned but it needs to be significantly better for me to buy one). Will probably get a slow action throttle and possibly a PTB in the future. Has a 6 bolt 42 tooth worn rear sprock…

Does the 07 feel different then the 06 with the cam change!and does it start any better?

Hello All, Has anybody got any experience of problems with the electrics on later 315's? I've got an 04 that has done nowt, but whenever it gets warm the plug just fouls and it cuts out..!! I've checked everything you'd consider and still it has this issue....I'm starting to wonder whether it may be a sparking issue? Any suggestions greatly received!! Thanks,

Been out with Dad all day today, hes almost going back to the 2 stroke lately due to stalling problems on the bike. Two big get offs for him today due to the bike stalling just at the point of getting back on the throttle. Not sure if this problem is something a 4 stroke will do or just perculiar to his bike or riding style. First off up onto a big slab slopping down hill, gets up on it, blips the throttle to go down just at the point of throwing the body forward and it stalls, chucks him straight over the bars and down the slab. An average clubman rider is thinking of buy a 4rt. With all the deals and such like available and waiting times for some models. Those in the know, which year and which model would be best to buy? and why? e.g. 2005...cheap to buy and good piece of kit 2006...re-worked engine, easier to start 2007................etc is the extra money better spent on after market stuff, like the Mitani gear any help most appreciated Leigh

Just got one off ebay.. but cant ride bike for 2 weeks (bust finger surgeon said NO ). Apart from fitting it - is there anything else i need to do? What changes will i notice? Jza

I`ve got a 315r and have recently bought and fitted some Hebo footpegs. They make a big diffrence to grip compared to my old worn standard ones and are a bit wider, but, I have noticed that when I kick my bike over, the kickstart catches on the footpeg and sometimes gets stuck. Although it obviously doesnt stop the bike from firing up, it is quite annoying and is causing damage to the kickstart lever, I`m not sure if any internal damage is being done. Anyone else had this problem? if so , what did you do to solve the problem....apart from buying new pegs

I have just purchased a Montesa 315 RZ, it seems to be missing a chain tensioner, where can I purchase these from, and are they expensive? There seems to be a bit of play in the brake discs, can this be resolved? What is the correct mixture for the petrol to oil mixture, I was told it is 80:1 with fully synthetic 2 stroke oil, is this right? can anyone advise me which 2 stroke oil to use? and also the recommended gearbox oil, and how often it should be changed. I have a 04 315R, I am a beginner too! has anybody tried the Jitsie Linkage plates? is it worth my while putting a set on my bike? I do find the back end seems reluctant to move around ( could be the fact I am crap mind). Any info would be gratefully read!

I've been offered a montesa 4rt by a friend, and wondered if theres any faults to look out for???? I've only ever rode 2 stroke trials bikes!!! What are they worth???

does anyone have any info on the alterations that need to be made to the tank pump on a 4rt for it to fit in a flat tank? as i'am aware that these tanks are being made for alot less money by various companys around the world, has anybody tackled the job themselves, or is it a major enginering feat?

Dads off line for now, kids messed up the computer . The clutch on his 4rt was perfect for the first few weeks but is now next to impossible to start the bike in gear because it is pulling? Hes been using the Elf oil and has bled the system through so it not a cable/cylinder problem thats causing it. Has anyone had any problems like this and what can be done mod wise to sort it out. He does have Hyspin AWS32 high performance mineral hydraulic oil which is very thin like the Elf, anyone tried it? or is there a better oil to stop the dragging. I have got a flat carbon kevlar tank, like what Doug had on his. The tank won't sit down flat as it touches the spark plug, I presume they had a shorter plug. Does anyone know the plug type and where I can get hold of one.
