Montesa

  1. Started by fantic303,

A few weeks ago i bought a PTB, everything works fine. With the software it is very easy to change settings, but what i miss is a tool for a comparison between two curves so you can understand the changes. After some thinking and debugging i have made a tool who can compare two setting-map's and display it in a diagram. Does any one else has thoughts about it ?

Hello everyone, first thank you for all of your knowledge regarding this bike. I'm new to the sport (although I've been riding motorcycles for 28 years) and reading your posts have help greatly. I'm alittle on the large side ( 6'6" 275 lbs) and I'm putting the bigger TSP spring on the rear shock. However, dispite the fact that I hear great things about the Showa front fork, I would think that I would have to beef up the front forks to? (to keep the sag adjustment correct) I know that a plush suspension is what is desired. I also know that a heavier fork oil can help. And what is the best setting in regards to the round lines on the top of the fork ? Thank you for your i…

I'm having some agro getting my laptop to communicate with the PTB and wondered if any of you very kind technically gifted (is that enough flattery) citizens can point this idiot in the right direction. Keep getting the error message "ECU CANN'T BE SHIFTED TO DATA TRANSMITTION MODE" when trying to read or write data. The set up is 2 map throttle body with 2 map software. Laptop with a female RS232C serial port (is this unusual) as the wiring harness also has a female connection, It aint gona fit. So bought a USB to serial adaptor (

Yesterday i answered a question that was really nagging in the back of my mind i flooded my 4rt in a stream. i had taken on water in a stream during a trial then went straight over the bars, the bike coughed and stopped i took the bung of the bottom of the air box lifted the bach wheel to empty it, really gently tried to turn over the motor, felt ok so gave it a kick,it fired straigt away and ran perfectly for the rest of the trial. stripped it out when i got home and could finde no water or muck in intake body put in a clean air filter and ran round the block a few times, maybe this fuel injection aint so bad after all???

  10. Howdy: I've just been out on (at last) on the bike today - generally really impressed....smooth off the bottom...only problem is the tickover... the bike will idle for a few seconds - then gets a bit lumpy and dies... If you turn the tickover up - so it's revving a little high.....it still idles for a few seconds...a little longer....then dies again? I'd had the carb off the night before - cleaned it all out......as the bike runs fine during the rest of the throttle response I'm guessing it can't be a jetting / air-fuel screw issue..... so I'm stumped... Anybody shed any light on this one...? Cheers

Thinking of going the 4RT route. I really fancy the programmable ignition. I read there are also 2 button jobs. Can someone clarify what options are avaliable, cost and from whom? How can I tell if a bike is fitted with a programmable ignition.

I still kept catching my boot on the rear 4rt brake peadal even after 8 months so here is a quick fix take off the folding tip, this bit varies on the facilitys mates you have, either put an m8 by 14mm bolt in a vice and file it down to about 5mm thick and cross hatch the top ,put an m8 nylock nut in the gap between the old mounts on the lever and put the nut in from the top instant small tip that will roll along any rock you hit. or if you have access to a lathe turn up a small alloy bolt with a 18mm top counter bore that with a 12mm by 3mm deep top castlate this with a small file and bolt up the same way works a treat and i have not missed it yet

Hi, Does anyone know where in the UK that might stock or be able to order the 2007 RTL250F plastics. They are similar to the Fujigas Rep ones in white. Just fancy having something a bit different. I appreciate that Andy has understandably clamped down on forum advertising so if you don't feel able to post a reply then please PM me. Cheers

Can anyone advise on starting a 2002 Montesa when cold. Having not started it for a couple of weeks it takes around 20 to 30 kicks if I'm lucky. Once its warm then starting is okay. I have checked the plug which seems okay, and yes it's wet after all that effort. Ideas and comments please, has any one else had this problem?

Anybody know how much gearbox oil goes in a 2004?... Also - what coolant type/levels does you use? Cheers,

  20. Alright guys.... ..well, I picked the bike up today...at last.....seeing as I bought it off ebay it's turned out okay..!! The only thing is that it hasn't come with a manual? What should the standard gearing be on a 2004? Currently - it's on 10:40.... Also - the forks have an obvious rebound adjuster on the top right light......but look like they have some adjustment on the top left and bottom right too.....anyone know what these adjust?...maybe pre-load and compression damping? Finally - it's got a bit of a dent in the header pipe....and some chunks out of the clutch casing.....are these parts going to cost me a fortune if I decided to replace them?...(you know how…
