Going to do my first gear oil change on my 315 - any tips to do it cleanly? I presume I have to accept the fact that the drained oil is going to go all over the top of the skid plate

Im restoring my Mont mh123 and I would like to go down the chrome frame route. I know the frame should be painted 'saint germain red' but I fancy chrome. I had considered powder coating but I've had mixed results from this in the past and fancy something different. I Know nothing about metal treatments. I've just had a quote for £800 from Ashford chroming to do my frame and swing arm. This involved sandblasting, chroming and polishing. I'm sure the finished article would have looked amzing but this is way beyond my budget. Are there any metal treatments out there which will give a nice chrome or silver finish without the expense ? Hi, does anybody know the part number for a rebuild kit for the rear master cylinder on a later model 315r? I've been checking online and I'm a bit confused is it the same as the gas gas part? Thanks for any help in advance.

I've been using a drift and hammer to adjust my rear spring, because the adjustable C spanner I have is too small for the job. But I would really like to use the proper tool. Thinking maybe 50 to 75mm adjustable C spanner. Firstly, what size is the nut on the 2015 standard 4RT? Secondly, do you guys and gals use a C spanner? It seems pretty short on space in the area, and I'm wondering whether there is actually room for the C spanner without removing bits.

Where can you find handlebar risers for a montesa? Bar goes from 7/8" to 1 and 1/8".

Bought the tool off In Motion came with no instructions but it seems straight forward enough (I think),I see conflicting info on here regarding setting ,my Spanish manual says 2.7mm BTDC is that when the points are fully open or do you set with points just open @ 1.8mm???. Bike starts ok or do I leave it??? not sure,can't have the timing wrong and kicking back as my leg is finally recovering after the last big incident . Thanks in advance.

Broke one of the front brake caliber bolts while taking off the forks for a fluid change. 2016 model, only 13 hours on it, this was the first time the bolt was turned since coming from the factory. I need to take the caliber apart to get the remaining bolt out. The manual suggests replacing the whole unit if any part is damaged so no disassembly info. Does anyone have some experience taking the caliber apart? Looks straightforward, only a bolt and a screw, but will it go back together?

Greetings - I "trail" ride my 06 and have burned the back side of the knee out of two pairs of pants on the header pipe before the shield. A common wisdom cure is the hope - the new ones have a longer shield I noticed. Likely a new location for the mount as well. Ideas Pics appreciated - and thanks too for reading!

Hi, I'm having a problem with clutch drag on my 1981 Cota 200 and would appreciate some advice. I recently had the motor repaired (a kickstart bush collapsed and fell into the gearbox) and clutch was out of the motor for a few months while the motor was split. Since putting the motor back in the bike and getting it going again the clutch has been dragging (by drag I mean if I put it in gear with the clutch in, it will creep forward). While the clutch was out I replaced the clutch springs with new ones but they made the clutch very hard to pull in so I've put the originals back. I've had them checked for pressure and reassembled it pairing the springs to try to ensure th…

was out on my bike over the weekend up charlton and war riding down near the via-duct, i was crossing the river when suddenly the front wheels slipped and the bike went under. i got the bike ticking over but as soon as u reved it a little it wud just stall eventually i got the revs up a lil and got it up in the carpark. i then finally got the bike reving as normal. i got the bike home and cleaned the carb out and flushed the tank out and i put the carb back together and now when i start the bike and leave it ticking over petrol starts pourin out off the over flow, now my bike (montesa cota 311) has 2 float and 1 is is 1/4 and the other is 5/8 and ive tried them both ways …

Hi all. I have a set of forks and front wheel on my bike from a Montesa Cota, and I need to identify them so I can get hold of a brake cable. They are 35mm and had the word "MONTESA" cast into the bottom of the alloy slider - not the "M" logo seen on some forks, and I think they were from the early 1970's. Is there any way of working out the year and model, or are all the brake cables interchangeable. I got them on ebay a while ago for my pre 65 project bike, so I have very little info. Also, how much and what type of oil goes in each leg. I can add I picture once I've worked out how............ All help, hints, tips and info will be much apreciated, Thank. Jon Summer…

Hello. I was out on my 2000 315r today and the back wheel suddenly locked up, stopped and looked and the rear disc guard was on fire! After some swearing at and stamping on the fire i had a look and the brake had seized, everything was red hot and all plastic parts had melted =( so.. I have taken the brake apart and need to replace seals and pistons but i seem to have 31mm pistons and all i can find is 32mm, anyone with know where i can get them from ? secondly, any idea why it happened in the first place ?
