I am currently rebuilding the front forks to my Montesa 248 and would like some advice regarding the grade of oil required and how much oil goes in each leg. Thanks

In the process of restoring a 1983 Cota 350 (red fenders / silver frame) and I am looking for a source for decals. It appears each fender had a Montesa decal. The tank had a Cota 350 decal on each side, with a small Montesa decal at the top front of the tank. I've checked the following so far with no luck (In Motion, France Trial Classic, Vallmoto, Classic Transfers, Classic Bike Decals, Storm Grafix)

Just giving the front end of my 349 a going over and a piece just fell out where the pinch bolt tightens when I loosened the bolt. Do any other models share the same fork legs ? It may give me more options when searching. I'll put a pic up later when I've stopped swearing.

I have some damage to my engine casing as pictured, that could do with repair. I know the outer covers are magnesium, but not sure about the engine casings themselves?

Mags Did you set the Tiny Tach on 720 = 1 spark per 2 revolutions? .5 spark per revolution I believe is the correct setting, but the unit only allows 720 degrees or 1 spark per 2 revolutions which one could argue is the same thing. We don't know the programming related to the firing or the “wasted spark” characteristics of the Montesa FI. I bought one of the Tiny Tach and set it on the 720 setting. The revs drop down when the fan kicks by about 150 RPM. So far so good. BillyT

Hey there guys im asking this question for a buddie of mine. My friend has a 91 Montesa 311 and the front end is a little on the stiff side. I helped him adjust the dampening (i believe is the right fork) and it helped but the suspension is still a little on the stiffer side than it should be. How do you adjust the rebound or the left for on this bike. Thanks!

Trying to confirm the timing on a 1983 Cota 350 (European MH349). Searching this forum has been inconclusive as timing is given most frequently as 1.8mm BTDC and occasionally as 3.0mm BTDC. I know 1.8mm is correct for the 348's, and I think it also applies to the early 349's up through the 81 white wonder, but I'm not sure it applies to the 82 and 83 models. Can anyone confirm the timing for an 83 Cota 350.

Has anyone, not necessarily moved them, but found a wider more modern alternative that fits without cutting and welding. Im use to Bultacos and they’re easy to move, but this little gem feels like your stood on a couple cocktail sticks. My memory is playing tricks on me as I remember them being a lot better the last time I rode one in the late 70s. Thanks everyone.

Alright guys.... ..well, I picked the bike up today...at last.....seeing as I bought it off ebay it's turned out okay..!! The only thing is that it hasn't come with a manual? What should the standard gearing be on a 2004? Currently - it's on 10:40.... Also - the forks have an obvious rebound adjuster on the top right light......but look like they have some adjustment on the top left and bottom right too.....anyone know what these adjust?...maybe pre-load and compression damping? Finally - it's got a bit of a dent in the header pipe....and some chunks out of the clutch casing.....are these parts going to cost me a fortune if I decided to replace them?...(you know how…

Helloo, It's been almost a year it seems since I last touched the Mont and I can't for the life of me remember the carb settings!! I've got this constant plug fouling issue so want to go back over everything from scratch and double check! Last thing I remember is changing the jets from standard to Comp....then, maybe!! back to standard again!! Does anybody have details of the carb set-up and a pdf of the parts catalogue? It's a 2004 running the Dellorto....could so with jet sizes, needle position, float height, air screw etc etc..... Cheers!

I have taken my 349 fork leg to a welder who says it may or may not work as he won't be able to weld all the way around. To be on the safe side I'm on the lookout for some new legs if possible. Does anyone have any cluttering up their shed or garage? Neil

Ive just had my hub back from the powder coaters and it's ready to be sent to be spoked. But I can't remember which way the concaved spoked flange part of the hub attatches to the conical drum. Does it attatch with the concave going outwards facing the forks i.e. bottom and smallest part of the concave closest the hub or inwards facing the drum i.e. bottom and smallest part of the concave closest the forks ? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I've just bought a Renthal C272 R1 428 chain for my Cota 200 but the links are wider than my old one (1.6 mm for the new chain, 1.4 mm for the old one). I still have the plastic chain tubes. I'm wondering if I should have bought a narrower chain? Thanks
