it might sound a silly question but then again ? in the 20 yrs since the last 4 stroke hondas were ridden by steve saunders etc, the ones with the disc brakes & monoshock suspension which seemed brilliant at the time how do they actually compare to the new model, honda would surely have used those bikes as a yardstick when developing the 4rt and I would think that ignition & fuel systems have improved since the earlier models were made

doesn't it look much neater with that flat tank. Mind you I don't suppose it holds much juice. I bet Ben's filling it up after every section. I wonder what other mods it has? Fork legs don't appear to be in carbon fibre/

I know this has been touched on in another post but it didn't really say what the problem was or what it is that the 315 master cylinder improves. I've just bought a 4RT and the only 'problem' with the clutch is that the action is very sudden. It comes in with a bit of a bang - on/off. Not very soft or progressive. Could be because it's new and may wear in, don't know. The lever action, biting point and weight of lever action are all fine. Anyone else think the clutch bite is a bit sudden/sharp and is this what the 315 cylinder mod eases? Anyone any opinions/experience? Or maybe it's because I've got to learn how to use a clutch again...

Although I dont own one (yet) I have always liked the Mont 315r and especially those funky green/purple forks. Anyway I noticed the new 4RT doesnt have them but has black forks instead yet (correct me if I am wrong) dont DL and Fuji still use the greeny purple ones?? Trivial I know but does anyone know why the production bikes stopped using them?

hi, this is my first post here, seems to be a pretty good forum so thought id ask my questions in here. im going to look at a second hand 2002 315r its the first bike i have bought and my only experience with them is my friends 1998 315r which i have spent a lot of time on. is there and thing i should look out for? and whats the easiest way to tell its an 02 bike? i have the frame number and its got 02 in it whereas on ebay a 01 315r has 01 in the same place on the number, i take it thats the year then? or is it just a coincidence? many thanks Mark

The title about sums it up, was having a quick check of the airfilter earlier and on the airbox top (snorkel?) there are 2 vents. One of these had a chunk of regular foam in blocking off one side. Is this a mod/normal or has the foam come from somewhere else in that region?? I am puzzled as on the other off-road bikes I have had I have always strived to get lots of air in quickly and this reduces the intake by 50% I looked in the manual, but there doesn't seem to be anything like it there. Any light to shed you guys?? Ged

My mate has just rebuilt his forks after stripping to fit new seals. After a couple of minutes ridng around, the forks seem to pump up almost solid and there is little or no compression movement. He's strippped and checked and everything appears to be as it should. Any ideas please?.

Sorry if it has been asked before, but does anyone have the owners manual for an 04 (r4) Mont Cota 315r that I can download, or a link? If not I would like to change plug and oil before manual arrives from wherever dealer is getting it from. Though he is not a Montesa dealer and doesn't know specifics about the bike. So ............. plug gap???? and oil capacity/brand/quality? Hope you guys can help. Ged

My 19 year old son wants to learn to ride and I have a chance to get him a 95 Cota 314r. Should I save my money and wait a bit until I can get him a 315r? It looks to me like there was a radical change between the 95 314r and the 96 315r. I don't see much change after 96 just refinements. Are there problems with the inverted forks? Any help in making a decision will be appreciated. Thanks DFW
