Has anyone had any experience with these? I put one on mine and it runs lovely but sounds like a crosser to the point that a couple of people commented on how loud it was at the last trial I was at! One even asked if it had any baffle packing in it! I checked and yes it has, it's only a few months old and packed from the factory with rockwool. Any tips on quieting it down? I don't want to give trials a bad name

Hi guys, after kissing lots of frogs i got my 315R princess I have been looking on and off for a couple of months for a cheapie but reasonable 315R and placed a wanted ad on here, and managed to buy one from one of the calls, which all seem to be from the Leeds area , 4 hours+ away for me so took two days off and saw as many as I could in the those 2 days! I wavered at times and saw few gasser Pro's but they all seemed to be just plain worn out, baggy and loose and as tatty as can be. Every dealer I spoke with told me the same thing, if I going for a first cheap trials bike get the Monty so hopefully this advice will work out to be correct. My Monty was only to be use…

Why didn't Honda design a Bash plate with 2 holes in line with the drain plugs so you can drain the oil without taking the sump guard off? Also if they expect you to remove the bash plate to drain the oil why didn't they fit steel inserts in the farme so you are not screwing into alloy? What mare I had had this weekend. First off the rear bolts wouldn't come out so one needed drilling out so I could then rotate the plate to loosen the other one off. I wouldn't mind but new oil came out of the gearbox when i drained it. So this was a waste of time. Then when i tried to put the plate back on the front bolts threads were knackered so needed helicoiling.

I can get this 2001 Montesa Cota 315R for $1150 or 750 GBP. What do you think of the bike from looking at the pictures? Everything on the bike is in working order and the bike does not need any work so it is just to hop on and ride the bike Well, i suuppose i will need to change the oil since the bike have not been used for some years according to the seller I could off course paint the bike if i buy it Do you think i sould buy this Montesa Cota 315R? If i buy it i would like to get the bike looking like a Repsol bike I suppose the 315 R is the same bie in 2004? Note that i already have a Gas Gas TX 320 that i just put on a 3,5 liter fuel tank…

There's 'Cota' printed several place on my '16 260. What does that it stand for, is it an acronym, or someone's name? Yes, I've tried searching, and google translate, but granted I may have overlooked something quite apparent.

Second year at Hawkstone and it was mint. But again this year the team 4RT's are deffinatly running more than just 'super unleaded' in the tank ! Does anyone know what it actually is ? . Smells like the stuff you would use on model petrol engines or something ... or is it a mix of that and normal fuel ??. If it is some sort of high octane fuel then would this shorten the life of the engine components ?, has anyone used it and what is the differance in the power charactristics ? It's a real 'petrol head' subject this one (pardon the pun, couldnt resist) Hard luck to Doug, I thought he put in a good ride on the sections that I was lucky enough to see him on... he did…

What is ACTUALLY known about Bou's & Fujis bikes? What is known versus conjecture, guessing, he said she said etc ? How different are Bou's Fuji, and Busto bikes to each other? Really curious to learn by the knowledge out there. Thanks for the responses.

What is the best way to bleed the clutch on a 4RT? First crash on the bike (going slow, around 5 mph) and I cracked the inside of the clutch cover causing all of the hydraulic fluid to leak out into the engine case. I replaced the clutch cover, slave cylinder piston, and o-rings. I tried bleeding the clutch using a Motion Pro Easy Bleed Hydraulic Brake Bleeder, but cannot get any clutch pressure. I also had my neighbor help with same results. Any recommendations or recommended tools? I a looking at purchasing the Phoenix Max-Pro. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I want to buy a Montesa 315 250. The seller says it is 2003. Also, I saw pictures with models from 1998, 2000, 2001. They all seam to look the same but there must be some particular differences between models. Since the seller doesn't have any document, how can i determine the production year for a bike? I'm interested in years: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003. Usually, I should use frame serial number but I don't know how. I'm sure this works for cars. This is very important because in case I have to buy some spares I have to provide the correct production year, otherwise, it's possible to buy the wrong spare which won't fit the bike. Anyway, you got my point. What's your…

Hey all I may be getting a 4rt with a 2 map PTB soon and was wondering what maps people recommend. Or is the standard maps the best to use. I have heard mentions of Maria Sanz map being very good but unsure how that is different from standard. I will get a shop to redo the maps for me until a get my laptop working so I would like to know what to ask for. I was thinking something along the line of: map 1: A road/ fast map as I ride alot of trails on the bike. But I am unsure the best way to achieve fast acceleration and top speed map 2: something a little mellower with lots of torque. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Scott

Hi all. I have a set of forks and front wheel on my bike from a Montesa Cota, and I need to identify them so I can get hold of a brake cable. They are 35mm and had the word "MONTESA" cast into the bottom of the alloy slider - not the "M" logo seen on some forks, and I think they were from the early 1970's. Is there any way of working out the year and model, or are all the brake cables interchangeable. I got them on ebay a while ago for my pre 65 project bike, so I have very little info. Also, how much and what type of oil goes in each leg. I can add I picture once I've worked out how............ All help, hints, tips and info will be much apreciated, Thank. Jon Summer…

Just about to change the oil and filter on my new bike. What are you using in your 4RT ? My local dealer recommends Castrol semi 10w40 in the engine and Castrol SLX 0w30 in the gear box. He did say Elf was the best oil but can not supply it. What do you use???
