Hi all, Any recommendations for 1980 MH123 engine parts? The Cota 123 engine is the same as the MH123? Any interoperability parts with other engines of other make? (Honda?) Got some damaged parts to replace... Thanks! Lior. One is missing...

Sadly my "Pride And Joy" 247 C was stolen out of my van a few weeks ago by some To""ers who rode it around then set fire to it. Luckily I have some insurance but have yet to see what the final outcome is. I am trying to get together some of the more difficult parts as hopefully I can get the salvage as part of the deal. one thing I am really struggling for is a "Push in Petrol Cap" and the second one is the rear brake cable. I'll be really greatful for any help and hopefully like a Phoenix - the old beast can rise out of the ashes. Cheers for any help.... The Wobbler

I need to change the points and condensor on my MH200. Any tips/tricks on how to lock the crankshaft to stop the engine turning when removing the flywheel nut? Also can someone confirm that the nut is reverse threaded? I've heard this but I'm not 100% sure. Cheers!

Mind the gap! I've heard there is nothing to worry about and just to put the new piston and rings in and then I've heard its best to check the gaps? I've never done this before and currently on changing the top end on my Montesa 315r Any advice of pointers? Do I need to line up the rings? Do I need to measure the gaps? I'm a dab hand at mechanics but this is one job I've never done before Thanks!

  5. Evening, Can anyone please help? Ive got a honda nissin front brake master cylinder from a crf450 which I fancy fitting to the 4rt just for the hell of it as I've read theyre a good mod. I could use the hose from my RM125 but its way too long. Can anyone please tell me the length of hose needed or which bike's hose I need to buy. Is it one from a small mx'er? Thanks

Hi, This site seems like a good place to find out this info! I've been looking at a 315R (post 2001, showa forks model) Seen some for sale in excess of £2750 Is it worth buying the 315R? Agree it was an awesome bike in its time and still more than capable of competeing at the very highest level (in the right hands), however here comes the big question! Are all the usual parts still available for this bike? We're talking along the lines of Piston, Rings, Bearings, Seals, CDI, Gasket kits, Plastics etc, etc, etc!!!!! Seen a post about discontinued brake pads and that got me thinking! Thanks in advance for your info.

Decided to check the valves on my 4RT today and haven't done it on this before but have on previous bikes. All 4 valves were tight, couldn't get the feeler gauges under any of them so set it to TDC (checked Pistons was at top too, valves on the rock although its hard to tell on them) set the crank on the T mark and slackened the adjusters, wound the tappet out and reset to correct clearance then put all back together. When I tried to start it, it now has massive compression, it will turn over and can't hear anything untoward but doesn't want to start and the compression just "feels" wrong, so gave up for the day and to have a think. The only thing I could come up with la…

Got a mate, with a few problems with his bike and wondering if anyone can help me, to help him My Montesa 4RT will start but won't run. Once started it runs for only a couple of seconds then stops. It will re-start but same thing again. Bike has recently had a brand new stator, new throttle body and condenser. I've tried new plug, all connections etc. Anyone ever had this before or suggest what to check next. Thanks

My clutch is working just dandy at the moment, no dragging, no slipping in top and neutral is a piece of p*ss to find. If I had to find fault it's a little bit on or off. I believe the 'book' says 10/30 motor oil, but also see that some use ATF, as I do in my Speedy. Any recommendations gentlemen? thanks in advance

Hi all, have any of you used fuel filters, (in line ones). The reason i ask is because i have just emptied my tank (duff fuel), and noticed loads of little "bits" at the botttom of the tank. I'm sure this won't do the carb much good, but am worried in case the fuel filter may restrict the flow. Any ideas?

  12. Stupid question - think. I have a 260 so the lower spec Tech forks. The spring preload side (left side), what is the base setting? The Manual talks about "turning" it, what direction? I pulled up the tech docs directly from Formula and it says: "Our advice is to start leaving the adjuster in middle position (you can reach the standard position by screwing it completely and unscrewing it 5 turns). After this, you can try to modify the preload, turning the governor one turn at a time, in way to feel every possible little change." My hunch is CCW is less and CW is more? Based on the paragraph above I would assume turning it CW until it stops and unscrewing…

Hello, new to this forum and have searched this subject but didn't find any info specific to my issue. Bike runs Ok on level and uphill but starves for fuel and quits on descents. It initially runs fine on downhill but after a few seconds runs out of fuel, pulling the choke lever brings it back to life. So, it looks to me like the float level is too low and as it runs downhill its burning off enough fuel to starve. I've pulled the carb and checked the float level. Spec is 23.5 to 24.5 mm. It's currently at 26.1 mm. So the difference between actual and high side of spec is about 1/8" (old school). Thinking this is likely the issue but wondering if there is anything else i…

And so begins a new chapter. Doug moving to Beta is a huge loss to the Montesa HRC Team, who just won't be the same without him. However we all move on and I am throughly pleased that Doug is continuing to ride at the highest level of the sport. A true ambassador for the sport and a true champion. Let hope the change in factories might just result in the 100th round win and a 8th WTC title. As a Montesa rider I thank Doug for his achievements at Montesa and wish him all the best with Beta. Viva Dougie Lampkin! PS. We've still got Dibs and Wiggy so alls not lost.

While inspecting my poor performing front brake, ive noticed its seeping fluid from inbetween the to halfs of the caliper, Both piston are working, Ive tryed winding the bolts up tight but still no joy. Is their a gasket between the to halfs? If so is it worth replaceing the piston seals at the same time? Its a 98 315 with a grimeca caliper, (thought id just ask before i did something daft) clay
