Anyone polished a 315 frame? If so, how did you get past the dull coating? and how did you protect it? TIA

While inspecting my poor performing front brake, ive noticed its seeping fluid from inbetween the to halfs of the caliper, Both piston are working, Ive tryed winding the bolts up tight but still no joy. Is their a gasket between the to halfs? If so is it worth replaceing the piston seals at the same time? Its a 98 315 with a grimeca caliper, (thought id just ask before i did something daft) clay

2 weeks ago here in Canada it wsas still +10 degrees, today is is -2 degrees and the front brake on my Mont has become crap! So, the question is, is this crappy performance just a side effect of the sudden temp drop? Fluid level is spot on, it does get marginally better after a little use but still bites very close to the handlebar even though 2 weeks ago it was nice and sharp. The caliper is a single pot version, I have heard multiple times that I should upgrade to the 2 pot version but as you can imaging finding a reasonably priced 2 pot caliper for a 1997 mont here in Canada is rare as the proverbial rocking-horse sh*t! I do keep an eye on the English E-bay just in c…

Since I've had my Mont I've been a bit underwhelmed by the Grimeca single piston front brake's performance. It's always been less powerful than I'd like it to be and lacked bite. I've bled it repeatedly, changed the master cylinder seals and put new mounting bobbins on the disc. These have all helped and it's actually not been too bad for a while. However, we had an extremely wet, sandy and muddy trial the other day and towards the end of the day I started losing the front brake almost completely from time to time which really didn't help my score. I've cleaned it all up now and it's not too bad again but the bite point changes from one application to the next whilst you'…

315 transmission can anyone with a 315 have a look at theirs and tell me if the sprocket set-up matches that on the link above. ie circlip, splined washer, sprocket, splined washer, circlip, thrust washer mine only has the two circlips, one splined washer and the sprocket. yet everything is secure and there doesnt seem to be room for the rest. so is the diagram wrong or has a previous owner done something to mine. if yours is the same as mine should the single splined washer be inboard or out of the sprocket. i ran it outside at the last trial and the sprocket has worn on the inside so i'll try it one the inside on the next ride to see if this lines things up better.

Hi, 1999 Mont. My front suspension bottoms out rather easily. The front is a tad soft. The pre-load is screwed fully down. I'm no heavyweight. I asked Sandifords if perhaps my front spring was getting weak.....however, I did mention to them that the pre-load has always needed to be well screwed in....even from brand new. They said perhaps the wrong weight oil was in the forks which can have the effect I am getting. They said to put in 10wt oil. Comments? I had originally intended to replace the spring, or make up a small spacer of my own to fit on top of the spring. Anyways, I finally got around to ordering some much needed parts for my Mont:- New tyre Set of A…

Does anyone know if there is a larger capacity fuel tank available for the 315? I've seen the ones that attach to the forks on the gasgas, and gasgas also has a larger main tank available, anything for the montesa? Thanks Bruce

Hi. Complete noob here - noob to mototrbikes as well as trials I must be mad but I've bought a '98 315 to learn on (starting on a bit of land that I've got) but need to get it back from the previous owner which is about 1.5hrs away. i don't have a rack or trailer yet but i was wondering whether the 315 would fit inside my XC90. I'm pretty sure it will fit in lengthways but I'm not sure about height. Anybody know what the height of the bike is with the bars off?

Hi, I recently got a 315 mont, bike seems really good starts well hot or cold, plenty of power etc but it sounds a bit crappy on idle, like its running out of petrol which it isnt. I have cleaned the card properly using carb cleaner and an air line a couple of times. The air filter is fine, like new and properly oiled, its got the correct plug with the correct gap so all the "usual" suspects are fine when checking for this sort of problem now im a stuck. What else can i do to try and solve this problem? Cheers.
