Hi All, Basically the bike is a 2001 315 and the rear caliper was butchered by my mate when the bleed nipple snapped off so i had to buy a brand new caliper (that will teach me to give it to somone who knows what there doing rather than mess it up myself) anyway after new caliper was fitted i started to try and bleed the thing and well its been a nightmare ive tried syringe method's gravity methods and a pressure sucker thing you connect to the airline and nadda it just wont seem to bleed ive tried this for weeks on and off when ive had the time and well id like to use the bike at some point so anyone have any idea's The syringe method basically backfilling the system i…

I need to invest in a new sump guard for 4rt having snapped!!!!! mine trying to get it back on. Anybody got any recomendations ? I like the idea of the slightly longer ones which are supposed to protect linkage a little and also will probably go up to a 5mm thick one. Price, fit and function over blingability are my preferences. Any help appreciated

Just acquired a Montesa Cota 123 ( see here ) and need to powder coat the frame. As far as I can tell, 1972 bikes have a silver frame (and my frame is 72 i think); can anyone confirm this and that the frame's went black from 1974. The bike has 21/18" wheels retro fitted, as far as I know the early Cota 123's has 20" / 17" wheels

How do you break the clutch apart? Is there a sercret to compressing the clutch to pull the pins? Or does it come off as a unit? P.S. Is there a workshop manual for the Montesa? I have the Haynes and Clinton for my Bultaco's but I can not find anything more than the parts diagram for the Cota 348 Sunny

Hi, I have a montesa 310 which I used to ride a lot a few years ago, but it has been sitting in my garage since then. I am trying to get it running again but can't remember if it is a 2 or 4-stroke? and what fuel mix? Also I don't suppose anyone knows where i can find a manual for it?

Been looking at improvement threads on here for the 4rt. Lots of people saying that the propgrammable throttle body is the single best mod you can make. When I enquired about it at Sandifords I was quoted

As above whats the thoughts for the 260? Jjust come out of a few years in Enduro and the DiD X Ring is a faultless chain, as good as it gets IMHO. Requires very little maintenance and with the two split links as supplied by Endurotyres it will last at least a year with little noticeable wear or stretch.

Heard that setting up your suspension to your weight makes all the difference! Obviously not going to make me a better rider but can't make me any worse! Can any body tell me how to do this please? 2015 4rt repsol TIA

Just bought an IRIS 520 gold chain for my 4RT, fitted it this morning and have found that the rivets are snagging on the chain guard and the tensioner rubber. I haven't ridden the bike yet, but I would imagine I'll be ending up needing a new guard and tensioner rubber pretty soon with this situation. I'm not particularly happy about this, as obviously it's not a problem with the original chain. Should I be returning the chain and asking for one that doesn't do this, am I entitled to do this, even though i have fitted it to my bike (not used) Do any other makes of chain do the same thing ? What seems strange to me, is that IRIS sponsor the Montesa Team, so you would ha…

Also, what is the model name or type of this absorber and is there softer spring available for light weight rider ? Standard should be K8.0 and 70kg to 80kg ? Thanks

Im restoring my Mont mh123 and I would like to go down the chrome frame route. I know the frame should be painted 'saint germain red' but I fancy chrome. I had considered powder coating but I've had mixed results from this in the past and fancy something different. I Know nothing about metal treatments. I've just had a quote for £800 from Ashford chroming to do my frame and swing arm. This involved sandblasting, chroming and polishing. I'm sure the finished article would have looked amzing but this is way beyond my budget. Are there any metal treatments out there which will give a nice chrome or silver finish without the expense ? Also does anybody know any compani…

Evening all first post, but ill get straight into it, I have come across a Montesa, 348 (1970) i'm told, for sale; and am interested in buying it as the bike (the 348) is of huge sentimental value to me and the family Its code is: 51M2325 Now i have done a bit of research and have worked out that '51M' means its a 348/349 Montesa, just wondered what the rest means as i'm stuck any help would be welcomed Many thanks John

So Toni Bou, not unexpectedly, won the 2007 Outdoor WTC to match his indoor title. Laia Sanz won the Women's 2007 European title and should surely gain another world title. Dani Gilbert won the 2007 European Championship and Montesa sealed its second consecutive manufacturers award. These 4 strokes will never catch on.

I was wondering if this is common or just a one off. My less than year old, 2015 4RT has a problem with the kick start lever. The lug that engages when it's folded out has cracked and deformed. It seems the alloy is really soft. Apart from putting the lever at too much angle, I can see this is going to fail in the middle of a ride somewhere. This bike hasn't had that much use because it's not my only bike. And other bikes I've owned have never had such a problem even after 10 years of hard use. And before you suggest it, I am very gentle on the kick starter. The bike starts better with a slow push than a stab. I'm happy to purchase a new genuine lever but n…
