  1. Cracking trial, cold and frosty start but then the sun came out to warm the observers up a little bit 3 laps of 10 sections in a 4-hour time limit, 1 observer, no stopwatch, no daft sections - plenty of tricky ones that took plenty of dabs though! FIM rules? I really enjoyed watching the top lads hopping and bopping around before launching the bike up a huge step. Clubby riders didn't need any fancy stuff on their sections but the rules still get a big 'thumbs-up' from me. Well done to BDMC for having the balls to try summat different at club level. Thanks to all the organisers and observers for yet another good day out with the lads. Happy New Year
  2. I seem to remember Andy getting a pic of his knobbly knee
  3. Ah yes, I know Steve - he rode round with my mate Darren Mitchell this year. Ishy talked him into storing my bike overnight in his van on the Saturday before weigh-in He doesn't smoke anymore but he always collared me for a quick gasper when ever I met up with him walking a section
  4. Talk to Ishy, lazy bugger didn't even turn the tyre round, never mind fit a new 'un. In fact, I remember he took the lid off the airbox on either the Wednesday or Thursday - peeped at the filter and said "Aye, that'll be reet enuff till Sat'dy" I'm with stuhrc's way of thinking though - 3 tyres over 6 days, if you have a spare wheel then it's easy to have a new tyre edge each day. After Scotland, you will be left with 3 part worn tyres that still have plenty of life left in them for trials and practising...
  5. Is he called 'Original' by any chance?
  6. Hang on, it's 'Bikespace' innit ?
  7. I think you'll find that's an 'original' TC member Really? Legs, Tobee or Jordi? He's got to be one of these 3
  8. Who's this fella? http://www.trialsinfo.com/events04/souther...s/target10.html I saw him at the Alan Jeffries this year and was impressed with how he seemed to make tough sections look very easy...
  9. I believe Al Bechard is yer man to talk to
  10. I've got a pair the same as Jay is wearing in the photo. Your hands still get wet but they just seem to feel warm for some reason. In fact, the only time my hands have been cold wearing these gloves was in Scotland riding down the road in the cold and wet. So, I swapped them for a pair of dry Hebo's - 5 minutes later and I put the neoprene gloves back on. Much better
  11. Glad to hear he isn't going 'part-time'
  12. Mr. Dabster is backing out now
  13. Yep, my bike can be used - but who is going to lend me their pride and joy

    Beta 2004 250

PJ1 Silverfire 75ml in every 5 litres of Super unleaded. I've used NGK BP5ES and BP7ES plugs without any noticeable difference. I'm pretty sure my carb is set at 1.25 turns out although I prefer to set it by response rather than the number of turns. You'll know when the mixture is right - crack the throttle open from zero to fully open and the engine should pick up straight away without any hesitation/blubbing. Do you do a lot of chugging around? If yes, wind the knackers off it up a big hill every now and again to clear all the goop
  15. I saw James today and he said that his score would have been lower but he's still getting used to the bike I watched him ride the first 3 sections and he made it look so easy.
  16. Well, I require/need: - 1) An element of 'indestructibility' in a bike 2) A local, friendly dealer that knows their stuff 3) Something that feels right to ride straight away. This narrows my choice down to the Beta and Montesa as both bikes meet 1) and 2) easily. Both are well built and can take the punishment when bounced off rocks left, right and centre. Trouble is, I can't get comfy on the Mont for some reason. Maybe I need to borrow one for a full day, maybe a new 4 stroker I haven't typed this up just to p*** off the folk that own, Shercos, Gassers, Scorpas etc. I've had a Sherco and know from personal experience that they bend if dropped hard enough. Gassers are very popular but if I owned one, I'd need to learn how to ride over rocks rather than through them
  17. I heard that Sandifords had 30 bikes delivered on Friday...
  18. 04 bike with 05 plastics?
  19. I forgot to mention that he said it with a smile...
  20. Last year, I overheard one of the top riders say "British Champ rounds aren't this ******* hard!" I ride the Clubman route and will be very happy if I manage to keep my score below 100 Done it for the last 2, maybe 3 years and always enjoy it - sometimes I look at the sections and think "****, is that the easy route?" Like someone said earlier, you don't have to ride it - turn up and laugh at the likes of me instead...
  21. I removed the flywheel (Beta 250cc) and left it off. I like the way it picks the revs up now, much zippier. Also got the fast action throttle on and a softer spring on the carb slide. Ishy advised me to put the flywheel back on for the SSDT but I ignored him Did a muddy trial last Sunday and the bike didn't struggle for grip any more than the others. Try it and see what you think, you can always put it back on again
