  1. Sherco, Gas Gas, Beta. They are all good - new or second hand. Don't bother with a 4 stroke until you gain some experience. 250s are the most popular by far, but a newcomer to the sport, or an older rider will find that the late 125s have more than enough power.
  2. And also catering for the Over Sixties riding modern bikes?
  3. I rode in the Hex Hill trial and on my 4th lap I thanked all the observers, as I always do, so it has become a habit and I do it automatically. I can understand how a person could forget, but over 50%? The Over Sixty riders might have a valid excuse, with failing memories due to their advancing years, but they were in the minority. Some south eastern clubs use hole punches and riders self-score themselves - not ideal for several reasons, in my opinion, so we need to keep both the organisers and the observers happy. Remember to say thanks because politeness costs nothing.
  4. Get a Sherco 125. It will do everything you want.
  5. Got to be over 60 years old to ride a modern monoshock in Bath Classics trials. I ride a 125 monoshock and it's capabilities are way above my ability. The future? Electric bikes.
  6. Does anyone manufacture a 200cc conversion for a 2014 ST 125? There is an earlier model on E.bay that has had it done. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/sherco-200-trials-bike-2007-/302170168160?hash=item465abedb60:g:41AAAOSwUsJYVvTi

    Wont Start!

Points: The fuel pipes on the Sherco STs get brittle after a short while and can allow fuel to leak out and/or air to leak in on the suction side of the fuel pump. Mine will not start if there is not ENOUGH fuel in the tank, although there may still be a bit still left in the tank and if I had not deliberately stopped it, the engine would have run on for some time. I have to put a bit more fuel in and it will start again.

  9. Some of the pushbikes that I see on the way to work have incredibly bright lights. Don't know anything about them though.
  10. Snapped the sidestand on my 2014 Sherco ST. Anyone found a stronger replacement? Or a cheaper replacement?
  11. You were in North Korea last week? MI5 will be round to "have a chat" later! : ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MI5
  12. The first Chinese trials bike. Xispa http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/forum/61-xpa/
  13. Look on Youtube. There are loads of demonstrations - take your pick.
  14. Please write in English.
  15. Jim Evans is the expert on the Beamish or RL Suzuki, so best to look for the answer to your RL/Beamish Suzuki questions here: http://beamishownersclub.com/
  16. You can wear a pink dress or have an air bag on your bike if you want to, as long as you don't try to make me do so as well.
  17. Just do it for fun and learn while you are having fun. Different clubs have vastly different ideas about how difficult a "Novice" section should be. This is probably because the sections are often set out by Experts, rather than Novice riders. Another issue can be that former Expert or Clubman competitors will ride the Novice route as they get older (or lazier). They will then get a low/clean score and also feed back to the organisers that the Novice sections were too easy. The result is that they are set harder next time and hence too difficult for the true novice rider. Probably the best way forward is to ask other Novice riders which clubs TEND to have realistic Novice sections and which clubs to avoid. For instance, in my area, Somerton, Blackmore Vale and Zona 1 can be guaranteed to set realistic Novice sections, while other clubs (who shall remain nameless, but happy to PM you) might be best avoided until you have a lot more experience and skill Don't be put off, just try a different club meet next time. Where are you based? If we knew then someone here will be able to advise you.
  18. Real men needing power should try the Honda GL 1800 - could be good in the right hands. Plenty of power. Amazing torque. A few mods and you might have a real man's trials bike. Don't see too many at trials meets in my area.
  19. If your crank seals are going, then you will be loosing oil from the gearbox. It would be very smokey. Measure your gearbox oil in and out. Crank seals don't require an engine rebuild.

    2013 Evo 125

How do you KNOW that this 2013 125 has only done 20 hours? Most 125s are owned by kids who rev the guts out of them.

    Fan Motor

£30 too much? Try a Pound Shop or what about an Oxfam shop?
  22. The plastic fuel line on my 2014 Sherco has gone hard and yesterday I discovered a pin hole in the wall of it - with no apparent reason for it happening. I assume that it is the ethanol in the fuel. Anyone know where I can buy some good fuel hose?
  23. Very few trials rider's vans have any trials or motorcycle stickers on them - for one very good reason. Thieving toerags. If you advertise the fact that you have a van with a trials bike in it, then one dark evening your van or your garage or shed will receive a visit from thieves, who will relieve you of your pride and joy. Be warned. Don't bother with stickers on your van.
  24. Change the oil in the gearbox of my two stroke Sherco ST every fourth trial. No practices in between, so it would be about every 12 hours. I use ATF.
  25. Ossa did make a 125 trials bike. Not many in the UK though.
